When we here the word “Smartphone” what comes to mind to the average Joe are things like “time consuming” “expensive” “apps and games”.

But do business owners and employees view the same thoughts as us? A recent survey study shows that a majority of small business owners and employs view smart phones as helping their productivity at work and home.

According to a new report by (Ring Central), 34% of small business users in America surveyed said that they use their Smartphone.

It is as powerful as a desktop or laptop from 5 years ago, plus offers instant access from the internet from almost anywhere.

But why would you still need one when your desktop already works?

Phyllis Dunn, chief executive of (send u direct) says “the one-two combination of a server and phone makes everything go faster, and will lead to better productivity.”

Why? Because this technology was made in order to interface with its Microsoft exchange component, in other words you can process your information much faster when your not actually in your office.

Smart phones are great for social engagement, but could cause the problem of anti social behavior especially in young adults.

The constant growth of apps and games can be a distraction.

With the easy access to information that comes with smart phones, people are more eligible to become “lazy thinkers”, and become less interactive.

However for serious users “Smartphone's can become secure gateways to your companies network”, says (Jon Minor)

The ability to connect to your office server via a Smartphone allows for a mobile worker to function as if they are at their desk from the road.

With (small business sever) allows it to create a high level of security.

You don’t have to sacrifice tools like SharePoint when you`re out of the office or away from your laptop.

“SharePoint, which is server based, can be made available through a mobile device,” says Patrick Gilbert, which offers mobility solutions to small businesses. With SharePoint employs can now contribute, even when they`re on a business trip.

But that’s not the only advantage. The ability to access company records from afar can also release stress of office life , and repetitive strain injuries from sitting in front of a computer.

Patrick Gilbert further adds that “connecting to company information while on the road is much more reliable and secure than having to access it from a common network server.

“Your business can benefit from that information in real time. A server is a powerful tool that keeps your calendar, address , book and task list organized in you wireless device. When combined with your work e-mail, it becomes a powerful business tool and a way to stay connected in a fast paced world.” Jen O`Connell, a wireless technology expert.

“It makes it easier for the user”, says Sean-Michael Daley, having virtually problem free mobile technology minimizes your frustrations out of the office and maximizes your productivity.

Since the technology was made to work in tandem with computers the result is a superior user experience with fewer frustrations.

And the less time you spend fixing something the more time you can spend working.

However as powerful as smart phones and PDA`s are they are not ready to replace laptops.

Smart phones benefit everyone, even students in terms of productivity and organization.

As well they were built to improve our communication they have also enhanced our learning skills.

There are more benefits to smart phones than there are negative, for as technology improves so does our productivity.
