SWA January, 2020 Newsletter President’s Article Hi ladies, Hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas season. I always thought the 12 days of Christmas were counted before Christmas, but actually the 12 days of Christmas starts on December 25 th and ends on the Epiphany, January 6 th . Merriam-Webster defines Epiphany as: January 6 observed as a church festival in commemoration of the coming of the Magi as the first manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles or in the Eastern Church in commemoration of the baptism of Christ; an appearance or manifestation especially of a divine being. In my life, and I’m sure in yours, it came and went so fast, let’s enjoy it as long as we can! As we begin 2020, our calendar is still full of activities. Please keep an eye on the church bulletin as well as on our newsletter. The first calendar quarter of 2020 offers several educational, social, and faith-filled opportunities. If you’d like to become more active in our group, start by attending and/or volunteering at just one event. You are likely to make at least one new friend. In my mind, we can’t have enough friends (who also become our prayer warriors in times of need). My challenge to you this new year is to consider a role as an officer or committee chairperson for the upcoming fiscal year 2020-2021. Yes, there is work involved, but there is also a tremendous reward when we give of ourselves for the betterment of the whole community – be it SWA, the Church, or the greater Catholic community. Please let me or any of the officers know of your interest, and we will invite you to our Officer meeting to answer your questions. May God continue to bless all of you and your families. Have a blessed rest of the Christmas season, and a very Happy and healthy New Year 2020. Love & Peace, Susann

Brilliant Basket Assembly for the SWA Raffle and Silent Auction

A clever and creative group of SWA ladies gathered together in December to assemble donated items into attractive baskets for the SWA Silent Auction and Raffle held at the Parish Christmas Dinner Dance on Friday, Dec. 13. More appealing baskets were never seen before and all went quickly at the Dinner Dance, garnering a healthy profit for the SWA to support its many

charitable efforts during the coming year. A big THANK YOU to Sandy McClure and her merry team of industrious

Christmas elves for all their hard work in preparing and assembling the many baskets.

Fabulous

Pleasure and Profit at the Parish Christmas Party

An enjoyable time was had by all at the 3rd Annual Parish Christmas Dinner Dance held on Friday, December 13 at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino. The Tuscany Ballroom was turned into a Christmas Wonderland with glittering décor accompanied by elegant table settings, jubilant music by Route 66 featuring our own Joseph DeRosa, and a fantastic dinner. The SWA Silent Auction and Raffle tables attracted eager attention and all of the beautifully presented items went to new homes while increasing SWA coffers for future charitable donations and programs.
