How does your media product represent

different social groups?

Gender!

Females have been presented more than males in my magazine

The overall look of

my model is very

serious and

professional , and

presents this female

character as being

strong and in control.

The black and white

colour adds a sense

of maturity.

Despite the main image being

female, I believe I have

created a magazine that

doesn’t target just one gender.

I have used neutral colours

that still stand out and make

the magazine look bold and

impressive, but don’t

stereotypically apply to just

one gender which is

something I didn’t want to do!

Age!

I believe that age has been represented in my magazine in 3 ways:

photographs, text and themes.

Each of my

photographs involve

younger people,

teenagers mostly. It

represents the

reader; they can

relate to the people

featured in the

magazine.

The clothes they are

wearing are stylish

and modern, what

you would expect

people of that age

group to be wearing.

A relaxed, personal approach to the

reader. Less formal language. Its

also presenting events linked to

younger people.

The text on the front cover is bold

and bright with eye-catching colours

used, creating a youthful impression.

• Themes:

The themes I have presented throughout my

media piece are all very youth driven, for

example music festivals, gossip about

celebrities etc.
