Dear Friends,Admittedly, I don’t fit the bill of a typical CEO, especially one in a male- dominated technology sector. But, it is being different and out-of-the-box that has set SolTec Electronics apart from its competition and has fueled its success. I’ve had the honor and privilege of leading the company to a multi-million dollar, highly acclaimed enterprise in just a few short years, and during a recession. SolTec Electronics has been creating an average of five new jobs in the community each year, and that number continues to grow. We are living proof that having clear vision and values, implementing great processes, investing in intelligent infrastructure and hiring an outstanding team makes anything possible.

SolTec Electronics comes from extremely humble beginnings. I started this company as a solo-entrepreneur in my living room with no start-up bank loans or outside capital. My husband and I believed so strongly in my vision and experience that we cashed out our retirement funds, emptied our savings accounts, maxed out our credit cards and basically put everything on the line to grow this company. On top of all that, the company was born just six months after the birth of our first child. Sound crazy? We call it passion! It was a risk, but a calculated one fueled by a strong confidence in our capabilities, and one that has paid off fantastically.

When I first founded SolTec Electronics in 2008, I wanted to put my near-decade of prior industry knowledge to good use. In doing so, I also wanted to create a different kind of company – a company that cares and delivers

on its promises. Sure, there are a lot of competitors out there that offer similar services, but in this complex and volatile industry, not all are created equal.

SolTec Electronics has filled a void in the electronic manufacturing and aerospace supply chains by creating cutting-edge processes to avoid and detect counterfeit components. This is done while offering unrivaled personal service to clients. The company is further set apart by serving and giving back to the community and helping its employees become leaders. It’s all been done with integrity each step of the way.

It is with great pride that I am able to share some of our successes with you now. I want to express extreme and sincere gratitude to all of those who have supported SolTec Electronics on its amazing journey. Clients, future clients, vendors, affiliates, partners, friends, family and community -- thank you! On behalf of the team at SolTec Electronics, we look forward to our continued partnerships. And, for those we have not yet had the opportunity to cross paths with, we are here any time you need us and excited to hear from you soon.

All the best,

Dawn

A first time entrepreneur who has received many awards and accolades for rapid business growth, especially in a down economy, she is a true visionary and creative soul with endless motivation and enthusiasm.

Dawn sits on SAE’s G19D Committee, setting AS6081 standard for detecting/avoiding counter-feit components. She is the winner of the 2010 “Make Mine a Million” business award sponsored by AMEX Open, as well as a finalist in Ernst and Young’s “Entrepreneurial Winning Women.”

Dawn continues to grow SolTec at a rapid pace, and has a lot of exciting things lined up for the future. The company recently expanded into a new facility where it will continue to build out testing capabilities in SolTec Labs™ and also increase inven-tory as it expands its OEM excess materials purchasing and consignment programs. Dawn continues to develop SolTec’s sales force and broaden its testing capabilities. She continually looks for customer-focused, energetic, high-integrity reps to join the team. Dawn also is leading SolTec to additional certifications including AS9120 for aerospace, ITAr Compliance, and QSLD for defense supply chain. Less than 3 percent of all WoMan-oWneD businesses reach the $1 Million-Plus yearly revenue milestone. Dawn led SolTec to this achievement in less than two years, with solid cash flow and profitability during a recession.

SolTec is one of a very small percentage of independent distributors to have both iso 9001 and ansi esD s20.20 certifications in place. Both were achieved in less than three years.

a DiFFeRent KinD oF coMPanyToo many of our competitors turn their backs on the indus-try’s problems. In fact, several are now serving jail time for knowingly selling counterfeit components to the U.S. government. With this type of stigma attached to the industry, the team at SolTec works even harder to prove to our clients that we are, in fact, different. While some of our competitors might care about these industry problems, they are not knowledgeable enough or properly equipped with the right infrastructure to deal with these complex issues. Since SolTec was conceived, the company has upheld high moral and ethical standards with the technology and capabilities to deal with the industry’s problems head on.

Why Anti-Counterfeit Measures are Important in Today’s Marketplace

Full visual insPection usinG iDea stD-1010SolTec Electronics has a 50- point receiving and inspection process, which includes the use of low- to high-powered microscopes, digital cameras and chemical part-marking permanency tests. Based on pass/fail of a full visual inspec-tion, parts may be released for more advanced testing.

in-house anti-counteRFeit anD testinG caPabilities SolTec Electronics is a small company with the flexibility to give superior personal service while conforming to any of our customers’ specific needs, yet it has the same testing capabili-ties that only a small percent of our larger competitors are able to offer. SolTec offers the best of both worlds, but does it with a lower overhead, passing the savings onto our clients.

The mentioned services are performed on all parts procured through SolTec Electronics at no charge as part of our zero counterfeit initiatives. Services also are performed on a cost basis on parts that have been procured through other channels.

ic DecaPsulationSolTec Electronics’ technician with over 10 years of experience can get inside an integrated circuit to view the internal die and bond pads with a metallur-gical microscope. Based on his observations, it is decided what, if any, additional testing might be necessary.

counteRFeit Detection anD avoiDanceWith our counterfeit-detection test equipment and highly trained technicians, SolTec Electronics has the ability to validate each component’s internal structure and identify signs of counterfeiting or electrical stress.

Functionality testinG SolTec Electronics has the ability to perform full electrical functionality testing on many devices. The company partners with a full-scale test house for full functionality testing on more complex devices.

In a volatile marketplace where electronic parts rapidly become obsolete due to

ever-changing technology, and where component manufacturers

constantly push out lead-times to unbearable waits, clients are often left with no other choice but to turn to

the independent distribution market to procure the materials needed for their electronic build. Time is money!

Redesigns take a lot of time. And, waiting 52-plus weeks for one component is simply not feasible when orders

have already been taken on an end-product that has an immediate need to get to market.

It all comes down to simple supply and demand. When parts are in short demand,

they become increasingly valuable. When parts become increasingly valuable, the

potential of counterfeits becomes greater. Add to this problem that a large percent-

age of components come out of the Asian region and the fact that China is the world

hub for counterfeit products, and there lies a huge concern for the industry. In fact,

the No. 1 grief of SolTec’s clients is that one of our competitors shipped them bad

parts or never filled an order. At SolTec, these problems never occur.LABS
