Joshua Manley-leeWitnessing the death of both Joshua’s parents humbled him in a tremendous way and placed me in a position where my story and accomplishments can influence the entire world. After his acceptance into the prestigious Morehouse College,Joshua concluded my freshmen year with a 3.81 grade point average, “freshman of the year” award, and “overcoming obstacles” award presented by the Shyne Awards. Along with these accomplishments came a memorable season with the Morehouse Track & Field and Cross Country team. They won the SIAC Conference Championship in Track & Field as well as Cross Country. These accomplishments would mean nothing to These accomplishments would mean nothing to Joshua if someone, other than hiself, did not benefit from them. Joshua represents not only the city of Pittsburgh but also every African American youth across the nation who has experienced a life-changing event and strives to become better than their situation. He gives to his community and countless youth across the world hope with every action he takes. As Joshua’s sophomore year approaches the end, he now serves the college as a presidential ambassador and will be interning with J.P. Morgan this summer in New York City. The service does not stop herstop here. With each day that passes the challenge becomes harder and his commitment is tested. If one remains true to preparing the generations behind them, everything else will follow. “Life is a mystery not meant for an individual to figure out but rather for them to make sure the generation behind them is one step closer.” – Joshua Manley-Lee
