About Wanderlust: 

•  It’s a travel magazine… •  Idea for the magazine was thought up on the back of a sick bag on a flight to Ecuador by Lyn Hughes & Paul Morrison…

•  Professional or re?red, male: female 43:57, no dependent children, aged 25‐65, spends a higher than average propor?on of income on travel. Pass‐on readership is over 75,000, mostly in Britain but with readers in 80 countries world‐wide.

Travel Overseas Sector (BRAD Jan’2009) 

•  Only 9 magazines directly in compe??on with Wanderlust, despite there being 75 entries in the Travel (Overseas) sector of BRAD 

•  Consumer Press Travel and Tourism sector consists of 194 entries:

The reader survey Wanderlust conducted in 2008 showed that:  

•  Over 90% of Wanderlust readers take two or more trips a year‐ one third take four or more every year. In total, Wanderlust  readers take more than 285,000 overseas trips per year.

Circula?on Percentages: 

•  Circula?on total of all 9 travel magazines compe?ng for the same audience (inc.Wanderlust) is 355,575. 

•  Wanderlust Circula?on is 37,500 therefore it holds just over 10% of targeted readership at 10.54% 

•  Conde Nast Traveller (Wanderlust’s biggest compe??on) holds nearly 24% of target audience with 23.97%.

According to Wanderlust’s marke?ng manager Rob Hawthorne:

When I asked him about the bold statements made in the Wanderlust media pack he replied: 

•  “Our bold statements about our target audience are the result of mee?ng and researching our readers for the last 16 years. We regularly meet readers at events and exhibi?ons and hold reader surveys every few years to establish specific details about them.”
