3 TECHNICAL TERMS | 2021

TECHNICAL TERMSAudible frequency range that a speaker can reproduce and is measured in Hertz (Hz).Frequency Response:

Electrical power transferred from an audio amplifier to a loudspeaker, measured in watts. The electrical power that the loudspeaker receives, combined with its efficiency, determines the sound power generated.

Power:

General measure of how loud a speaker can be (in decibels per 1 watt per 1 meter in distance) in relation to how high the volume, or output, needs to be on your amplifier. The higher the sensitivity number, the less power required to play your speakers optimally.

Sensitivity:

A measure of how much the speaker resists current. The lower the impedance in ohms, the more power the speaker will draw from your receiver. This refers to the load that a speaker places on the amplifier and helps determine the compatibility between the amplifier and speakers. Speakers are rated based on the number of ohms that they have (typically between 4 and 8 ohms).
