12th Annual South Carolina Pecan Festival Event Overview

The Florence Downtown Development Corporation and the City of Florence are proud to, once again, co-host this signature event which brings thousands of people from across the Southeast, to the streets of Downtown Florence. We invite you to be a partner to this ever-popular major attraction. What began as a vision to bring people from all over the region to Downtown Florence to enjoy the beauty and history of our community, has turned into an event larger and faster growing than its founding members ever expected; rapidly growing from 4,000 attendees in its 2003 in-augural year to over 50,000 residents and visitors in attendance. Imagine strolling along streets brimming with a sea of smiling faces, classic cars and antique tractors glistening in the bright sun-shine, stages of pulsing music from every corner, and children dancing, jumping, and squealing in delight as balloons and grills season the cool fall air. This is an event you won't want to miss! We invite you to review our sponsorship package for the 2015 South Carolina Pecan Festival. Sponsors will have exclusive on-site presence supported by event promotional materials, event day exposure, media coverage, and publicity to targeted audiences as listed in the following pag-es. 2015 will be the twelfth year for this Saturday street festival, featuring the annual Classic Car Show, Run Like A Nut, Bike Like A Nut, Act Like A Nut Talent Show, Toss Like A Nut Cornhole Tournament and Pecan Cook-off competitions. In response to overwhelming popularity, the event has expanded over the past few years, allowing larger vendor spaces and adding more stages and attractions than ever before. This year will feature eight total stages of free live en-tertainment with over 50 bands and entertainers, as well as a Farmers Market selling fresh, local-ly grown products. As always a wide array of arts and crafts will also be a vibrant part of the fes-tival. In addition, we will offer free Park and Ride Shuttle Service to and from the event. With the support of sponsors like you the South Carolina Pecan Festival continues to bring inno-vative new programs as it generates capital into the local economy. Visitors invigorate Historic Downtown Florence, attracting the interest of people and families from various demographics, generations and ethnic backgrounds. Become a partner in making the 12th Annual South Caroli-na Pecan Festival the most fun-filled weekend event yet!

Pecan Festival returns with a new musical lineup and even more to see BY SHAMIRA McCRAY Morning News [email protected] | Posted: Wednesday, October 22, 2014 8:41 pm FLORENCE, S.C. – The 11th-annual South Carolina Pecan Festival is right around the corner, and this year festival attendees can expect to find a few more attractions. On Halloween night, before all of the festivities begin, a Hope Harvest fundraiser will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. at Victors. The event will include a live auction, heavy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and music by A New Creation Band. Tickets are $35 in advance and $50 at the door. “We’ll auction off (empty) bowls,” said Nicole Echols with the Harvest Hope Food Bank. “We hope that people will take those home, look at them and remem-ber all of the people who go hungry throughout the year.” This is the third year for the Hope Harvest event, and Echols said this year may be the most successful yet. “This event is the night before (the SC Pecan Festival), and we hope that people will come out and start celebrating with our event,” Ech-ols said. “We’ve had some generous sponsors in the past, and it allows Harvest Hope to keep doing what we do.” The Pecan Festival presented a a check for $7,500 to the harvest Hope Food Bank on Tuesday. The festival will begin on Nov. 1 and will feature eight stages of live entertainment, vendors, a free kid’s fun zone, a vocal competition and an Art Trail on Evans Street exhibit, among other activities. The competition will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature chefs from Carolina Hospital Culinary Division, Percy and Willy’s Restaurant, Sweet Cupcake Company and Victor’s Bistro. “All of the recipes have to be pecan-themed,” Downtown Development Coordinator Allene Glapion-Tellis said. Celebrity judges for the competition include City Manager Drew Griffin, Florence City Council member Octavia Williams-Blake and WMBF report-er Ken Baker. Glapion-Tellis said the celebrity chefs will compete for a trophy. Winners also will receive free aprons. The American Cornhole Organization will host the inaugural Pecan Classic at this year’s festival. “People will be competing for an entry in the national cornhole tournament,” Glapion-Tellis said. “This is a qualifier, and you can register by going to americancornhole.org.” There is a 100-team maximum, and the entry fee is $40 per team. Check-in for open play, and pay-as-you-play game challenges will be from 10 a.m. to noon.
