Thank you so much for your generousity of time, effort and assistance. My mum and I had an absolutely wonderful visit back to South Grafton Public for the Sesquicentenary celebrations. It was a beautiful way to walk back down memory lane, catch up with old friends and teachers and to see the amazing progress happening at the school. Congratulations to all for the fantastic organisation and contributions to make the day the huge success that it was. Congratulations also for the amazing work that’s been and continues to be done to create such a warm and inviting community spirit at South Grafton Public School. Many thanks for your help in locating, arranging and emailing through the photos as requested. With warm regards, Sharyn Gill-Andrews (very proud School Captain 1971) Last Saturday our school participated in the Jacaranda ‘Parade of Youth’ with our wonderful banner. Thankyou to all our students, staff and families who attended and supported our school at this march. Our banner placed third which is an excellent achievement and congratulations to our banner team and our students for all their time and effort preparing this banner. Well done Lucy Rouse who spoke very eloquently about the meaning of our banner. Yesterday many of our very talented students performed at Market Square in the Jacaranda Lunchtime Concert. Our students performed wonderfully in front of a large crowd of our families and community members. Again our school was able to showcase the very high quality Creative Arts Program we provide for our students and our thanks to our staff who very willingly prepare our students for these excellent occasions. Good luck to our Skipping Team, Academy Choir and Stage 3 Dancers who are performing this Friday at 5.45pm at the ‘Telstra Riverlight Festival’ (Venetian Carnival). Tomorrow, Thursday 2nd November is a Jacaranda Thursday Half Day Public Holiday School will be open from 8.30 -1.00pm. Buses will provide morning transport but will NOT be picking students up at 1.00pm. All students attending school must be picked up by parents by 1.00pm.

The past few weeks have been extremely busy and very successful and I would like to thank our whole school community for their wonderful support of all the initiatives our school has been involved in and will be involved in throughout the next few weeks.

Last Saturday our school participated in the Jacaranda ‘Parade of Youth’ with our wonderful banner. Our teamed performed very well and were great representatives for our school. Our school has a long history of success in this equestrian event. Congratulations Logan McGrath, William Tibbett, Chelsea Hughes, Mylie Wall and Toby Tibbett.

Good luck to our Year 6 students and the accompanying staff Mrs Pope, Mrs Rouse, Mr Jones and Mrs Matthes next week with their Year 6 excursion to Sydney. Congratulations to our Aboriginal Dance Troupe on their excellent performance last Sunday at the Grafton Racecourse for The Clarence Valley Ramblers. Our Year 2 to Year 3 transition program is progressing very well and I know both students and teachers are really enjoying this very positive experience.

A reminder to all our prospective Kindergarten parents for 2018 that we require your child’s enrolment form so we are able to plan our classes for next year. We are very hopeful to have four kindergarten classes. Your support would be greatly appreciated and these forms may be returned to either office as soon as possible.

Have a great week Mr Peter Hickey Principal

We are in desperate need of second hand school uniforms of all sizes. If you have any that your children have grown out of please consider dropping them into either office for us to use as emergency clothing. The Infants campus is in desperate need of small underpants and small grey shorts to use for those little accidents. If your child has received some of this emergency clothing, could you please wash the items and return them to the office.

Please be aware this is for the Selective class ONLY at Grafton High School not general main stream classes. Applications for selective high school placement in Year 7 in 2019 open on 10 October 2017 and close on 13 November 2017 at https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7. The Selective High School Placement Test is on 15 March 2018. Selective high schools cater for the specific needs of high achieving gifted students. Parents apply when the student is in Year 5. The students sit the test in March of Year 6. To be considered for placement students must sit the Selective High School Placement Test.
