Barcelona College: High quality courses, catering for a full range of ability levels ~ ideal for adults & Gap Year courses all year ~ excellent college with first class facilities ~ Focused, experienced teachers and offers excellent service.

Howard : Languages for Life “The school was ideally situated, very central and near to the metro station. The school building was large, clean and pleasant. The roof terrace café was excellent, a friendly and sociable place. The nightlife is excellent; there were many beautiful, stylish ad elegant bars and clubs. The city is packed with very interesting attractions to suit everyone and I was still rushing around in my last week to try and fit it all in.” Vicky: Standard Course “What an experience. If I was to do it all over again, I'd keep a vocabulary notebook and jot down all the words I learnt, adding to it every day, and review every week what we'd done in class. However in reality, there is so much to see and do in the city and so many great students to get to know – studying in Barcelona Is just phenomenal!"

Benalmadena 2013

CESA Plus Points:

Benalmadena: Set on the Mediterranean coast and is surrounded by the resorts of the Costa del Sol, just 30 mins from Malaga ~ the main draw during the warm/hotter months are the beaches (within easy reach by foot, from the college) ~ excursions to Seville, Cordoba, Granada or Ronda are regular options & students can also visit closer locations: Marbella, Nerja or Malaga (at extra cost) ~ an informal, relaxed environment ~ students enjoy the quieter pace of studying here, though it will become very busy in the summer months. Benalmadena College: Central location ~ small, friendly college ~ suits all abilities and age groups, from 18yrs through to adults looking for good general Spanish tuition or DELE preparation ~ good coastal location ~ quality courses and personal service ~ Spanish films, lectures on art, history and literature, Tapas tours, Paella and Sangria parties at the college (at extra cost) ~ various evening outings (at extra cost) to enjoy concerts and music venues for those who love Flamenco, Salsa or Latin American dances and of course to various local restaurants!

Mrs Stewart: Private Tuition “The location really suited me; a quiet town, everything within walking distance, good tuition and friendly people – hope to come back before the year’s out.” Mr Granger: Over 50’s Course “A sociable course, not too many lessons but enough to keep the grey cells ticking. Many thanks CESA for an excellent course.” Vanessa: Standard Course “I needed to work on my Spanish post Uni – but really wanted to take a holiday too. Benalmadena enabled me to meet both goals, in just 3 short weeks. My conversation skills are much stronger now with plenty of practise both in and out of class – and I made new friends from all around Europe AND worked on my tan. A real result.” Mrs Wade: Standard Course “After 2 weeks at the Spanish language school I can honestly say that all of the students and the teachers were lovely. However even as a mature student, I felt I would have been very welcome. I stayed in a hotel but eating out for lunch was cheap especially in the local Spanish small restaurants. The local people were very friendly. I would recommend the Spanish language courses in Benalmadena to any student, mature or otherwise. In fact, I may very well return again prior to completing my Degree in June!”

A prestigious university city, Granada has a large student population & a buzzing night scene ~ a place of contrasts; Christian & Islamic, narrow dark streets & expansive open vistas. It is famous for the Alhambra, its Arabic heritage, the caves of Sacromonte, and the gypsies who lived there and developed Flamenco. Granada is situated right next to the Sierra Nevada mountains, set inland, one and a half hours north east of Malaga. It is famed for it’s narrow, cobble stoned streets and the white washed houses of the Albaícin, the old Arabic quarter. Students also love the numerous squares with terazas, perfect for sitting and watching the world go by. The language school, est. in 1987, is located just off a cobbled street, in a house with a private garden and wonderful views across the hills to the Alhambra Palace. The college has 7 classrooms, internet access, a library and a cafeteria. It offers a relaxed, informal environment for language learning and specialises in offering small group classes and private tuition. It is within easy reach of the city centre by foot. The busiest study periods of the year occur during the long Spring & Autumn months. Not far from the school, buses depart for the Sierra Nevada mountains and the Mediterranean coast almost every hour. Almost all student accommodation is located just a short walk away. The college suits Gap Year, uni & graduate students and adults looking to improve for career, academic or personal reasons.

CESA Plus Points: Granada: Must sees include the Alhambra (at it’s zenith in the 14th & 15th c. when Granada was a flourishing Moorish capital) the Albaicín (old Moorish quarter of narrow, winding streets and aged mosques-turned-churches), the gorgeous gothic Capilla Real (resting place of King Fernando & Queen Isabel) & the Cathedral dating from 1521 ~ literature fans will love Huerta de San Vicente, the home of Federico García Lorca ~ for night life the Plaza Nueva/Calle de Elvira area, at the foot of the Albaicín is bursting with bars serving tapas & local wine ~ check out Granada's flamenco scene: bars and flamenco clubs host up-close evenings of this passionate music and dance. Granada College: Excellent course options (great value long term courses, ideal for Gappers and adults on a budget) ~ personal atmosphere in superb location ~ ideal for all abilities and age groups ~ DELE preparation ~ Skiing ~ Horse Riding ~ Cultural and Literature based workshops also offered.

Elizabeth: Intensive Course “I expected quite formal lessons in a similar way to school. Lots of grammar and writing! The style of the school was very different; it was very relaxed and fun. It never felt like you were working hard even though you were learning a lot. They used so many different methods to teach that there was always a variety but it was a continuous reinforcement of what you had learnt. All the lessons were excellent! The teachers were quick to learn names and to learn strengths and weaknesses. The teachers were a great team and one lesson flowed into the next seamlessly. The personalities of the teachers were vital to the teaching style and this is why the school worked so well.” Ben: Languages for Life “I needed to work on my Spanish prior to reading French & Spanish at Uni. I’d only studied Spanish to AS level, so was conscious it was weaker than my French. I went for CESA’s 12 week Languages for Life (A) course because it was such good value. The college was chilled, the staff friendly and all the students wanted to socialise. We tended to hit the bars rather than clubs, which suited me and I even got to ski in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I went out to Granada to work and ended up having a blast. Great course, great people – good times!”

CESA Plus Points: Madrid: The Prado, Reina Sofia & Thyssen-Bornemisza museums ~ great shopping on (and near) the Gran Via ~ monumental buildings, grand boulevards & narrow medieval streets ~ tapas bars, restaurants galore, cafes & night clubs to explore, Madrid loves to party ~ colourful fiestas ~ a quiet hour in Retiro Park, people watching~ the friendly nature of the Madrileños who love to “vivir a tope” (live life to the full)! Madrid College: High quality courses, across a wide range of ability levels ~ ideal for adults & Gappers year round and A’level students ~ excellent for DELE preparation students ~ superb school location in a beautiful quarter of Madrid ~ Focused, experienced teachers and a school that offers first class service.

Shezre : Intensive Course “I loved the school, its situation, staff and students. The school is located opposite the Retiro Park, which was great. The staff were lovely, very friendly and approachable. The students were of all different ages and from different places but there were a lot of really wonderful people. The lessons differed greatly from week to week.” Tom: Languages for Life “I’ve fallen in love with Madrid and the Spanish language – thanks CESA! What a great 12 weeks. I meet so many great people and had such a good time. The night life is fantastic, the clubs are really student friendly – and the Madrileños let you practise your Spanish on them!” Sarah : Standard Course “My time in Madrid was the most fun I’ve had ever! I met so many people through the school from all over the world and I am still in touch with many of them now 2 months on. Madrid is an amazing city with so much to do and the people I met there were all very welcoming, friendly and lively. I felt through my 5 weeks my Spanish improved a lot. You can’t speak any English in the Spanish language school and everything is taught completely in Spanish. At first, this frightened me and although it was challenging to begin with, it is in my opinion the best way to learn a language. I feel confident now when speaking Spanish, where I struggled with that before. What’s more is the teachers at the school are AMAZING. They are all so lovely and actually make the classes fun. You chat away in Spanish about absolutely everything, you play games, you listen to music – its great and helps so much.”

Malaga 2013

CESA Plus Points: Malaga: For a great climate and a lot of sunshine throughout the year ~ a fabulous Anadalucian city plus fantastic beaches ~ ease of access to the city centre by bus ~ first class college excursions to Ronda, Granada, Seville & even a weekend trip to Morocco ~ tapas, rioja and amazing barbecued sardines ~ Flamenco & Bull fighting ~ Picasso museum ~ Semana Santa processions each Easter and the August Feria are must sees ~ the friendly nature of the local people! Malaga College: Wide range of excellent language course options at a high quality college with fantastic campus facilities ~ ideal for adults (business or simply Spanish for pleasure) & Gappers year round and teenage students in the summer ~excellent range of on site residential accommodation, to suit all ages ~ Focused on course quality and offering excellent facilities and service.

Sophie: Summer Teenager Course “The staff in the college residence and the school were so helpful, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The Spanish language teachers were eager to help and very friendly. They always introduced themselves using first names and the school was, to its credit, quite informal, whilst still promoting a strong work ethic. It was good to have the lessons in the afternoon, so we could complete homework assignments at the college in the morning (once we’d made it out of bed).” Laura : Languages for Life “I was a near enough beginner and was the quietest in my class but by the end of the course I was holding conversations with the teachers and all of the people in my class in Spanish. My confidence grew. I didn’t expect that I’d learn as much as I did. Actually I impressed and shocked myself at how much progress I made. Everything at the Spanish school in Malaga including the teachers, language course and the food was far better than I expected. Mr Phillips: Standard Group Course (26) “A very efficient, time effective and successful course. A new teacher every hour made sure each lesson was challenging, but they always knew exactly what we’d done to date – so every lesson was productive.”

Mr Matthews: Private Tuition “Quality tuition, good teachers, great room in the residence. Ideal for my needs.” Mr Stephens: Over 50’s Course “Honestly, the two weeks just flew by –the afternoon activities were, without exception, extremely interesting: whether a flamenco seminar, a visit to Nerja’s impressive caves, wine-tasting (by Paco, who turned out to be a real expert in the matter), and a fun cooking class. I loved Nerja, the college, the course and my fortnight studying Spanish. Can’t wait to come back! Thanks.” Christina : Standard Course “I was 16 years old, and going away alone without my twin sister for the first time. My first thought when I reached Nerja was ‘Oh no, it’s so hot, and so Spanish, and all I can say is ‘gracias’…how am I going to survive?!’ However, everything always looks better in the light of day, so “don’t panic”. My mainstay during my 2 weeks was my host family, and especially my Spanish ‘mum’ Isobel. The family were utterly brilliant, and I would say to anyone going on a CESA course, do stay with a host family, and talk to them, do things with them – you’ll get so much more out of your experience, and gain an understanding of the local culture as well.”

CESA Plus Points: Palma: Home to magnificent palaces, avant-garde galleries and museums ~ a thriving cultural scene and an ever-growing number of chic boutiques, hotels and bars & nightclubs ~ there are still plenty of traditional restaurants, locals' bars and pavement cafes in which to while away the hours ~ the fishermen still mend their nets by hand on the harbour's edge ~ the traditional island crafts of glass-blowing, lace-making and olive-wood carving still exist in the small specialist shops of the backstreets ~ it’s still easy to get lost in the maze of beautiful ancient alleyways and hidden sun-baked squares of the old town ~ Palma offers something for everyone.

Palma College: High quality courses, catering for a full range of ability levels ~ ideal for adults & University students year round ~ excellent college with first class facilities ~ Focused, experienced teachers and offers excellent service.

Jenny: Standard Course “Mallorca is paradise. With its rich landscapes and infinite blue skies, learning Spanish here has been a real pleasure!" Emma : Private Tuition “I elected to take 2 hours of lessons a day on the basis that anything more intensive would not have allowed time to consolidate (or have any time left for a holiday!). My expectations were met, but I would have liked to have stayed longer. The lessons did consolidate some areas of knowledge and I began to feel more confident using the language actively (in shops etc.). The one to one lessons were great, I found my teacher charming. The school is in a fantastic location, particularly as I was staying in an apartment in central Palma.”

The style of teaching was more interesting than I had hoped for and the teachers were all brilliant and used many different teaching techniques. I was also pleasantly surprised by the vast range of people of different nationalities, meaning I only communicated in Spanish!” Tom: Languages for Life “What a great 3 months! Great people, excellent school and Salamanca was just amazing. I found that everyone enjoys a very active social life. People go out for dinner, to the cinema, go to bars and clubs or just sit and watch the world go by in a café on the Plaza Mayor… just amazing. I’d feared it would be all work and no play, but actually it was the best experience I’ve had to date.”

Emily: Languages for Life Course “Classes are a lot of fun. A lot of studying to do though. But mainly, I am enjoying myself! In my free time, apart from studying, I’ve been on a hike with friends and simply just experiencing the Spanish-Basque culture. But it’s the beach where I’ve been spending most of my time. After school everyday, we all head straight to the beach. Some surf and others play volleyball. Jo and I are heading to Barcelona this weekend and then after that I have one more week left!! I am very sad. I don’t want to leave. Especially now that summer has hit.” Mr Durand: Spanish Private Tuition “The methodology, service and infrastructure were top level, and in just 2 weeks I noticed a significant improvement in different facets of my Spanish, and am more prepared to conduct business in the language. Outside of class, San Sebastian is a fantastic city, relaxing but never without something exciting going on. It’s proximity to France and to the ocean makes it even better.”

Tom : Standard Course “Having not enjoyed languages at school I had only a vague hope that I would be able to communicate in simple Spanish. By the end of the course (4 wks) my expectations were surpassed, linguistically and generally. I was still a long way off achieving anything close to fluency, however I had gained a great deal of confidence in terms of being able to try out the language at every opportunity. The lessons were superb, challenging but very interesting and enjoyable. The class size was just right (around 8 people) and our professor (Alberto) encouraged everyone to participate.”

Katherine : Languages for Life Course The best parts of my course was meeting so many people and realising you can hold a conversation with someone in another language, and being in Seville. The worst part of my course was sitting in front of the class and doing a presentation, it was a bit daunting! It was fabulous having a mix of younger and older students on the course from all sorts of different countries, it made everyone really enthusiastic about being in Seville! Everyone I mixed with at the college was really friendly and lots of fun.

Valencia College: Great range of language course options ~ ideal for all abilities and age groups, from A’level students & Gappers through to adults looking for intensive tuition ~ DELE preparation ~ Central location in a friendly college with excellent facilities.

Adam: Intensive Course “Valencia was a very good location, food was good and I felt safe there. The locals were friendly too. There is plenty of nightlife in Valencia and lots to do during the day too. I was impressed and very pleased with CESA Languages Abroad. I would go again. I don’t think 1 week is enough so I would go for 2 or more next time.” Joanna : Languages for Life course I found the location of the school to be perfect for what I wanted - a city not too large, located by the sea. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Once I arrived at the school I found the class sizes to be perfect for learning. A maximum of 10 students in any classroom allows for sufficient teacher/student interaction. The teachers were enthusiastic, helpful and knowledgeable. I studied at the school for 3 months, and had the pleasure of interacting with many of the teachers who work there. I would highly recommend the school to anyone considering studying Spanish.
