The public is requested to fill out a “Speaker Card” to address the Board on any item of the agenda prior to the Board taking action on an item. Comments from the public on Agenda items will be heard only when the respective item is being considered. Comments from the public on other matters not appearing on the Agenda that is within the Board’s subject matter jurisdiction will be heard during the Public Comment period. The timelines indicated are for the purposes of moving agenda items along only and do not constitute official times to discuss and/or take actions on items presented. Public comment is limited to 2 minutes per speaker, unless waived by the presiding officer of the Board. Describe the event/ request/ project in detail: The Outreach Committee will work with the board to create content for monthly and quarterly newsletters printed before and distributed at the GPNC meetings, Newsletters will be provided at meetings, to board members, and around the Glassell Park community (Schools, Rec Center, GP Pool, Local Restaurants and Business…).

Will work with the Outreach & Communications committee, often in joint committee meetings, to design and implement the web-outreach and social media plan for the NC. WIT will create a best practices to present to governing board for web access, manage website access and posting guidelines, and partner with Outreach & Communications to manage the social media access and posting guidelines for board consideration and approval.

Text of Motion on the Agenda: - MOTION to co-sponsor the Glassell Park Night Out on August 2, 2016 or October 4th as part of the National Night Out national event OR on a different night as a Glassell Park NC community event. - MOTION to form and populate a NIGHT OUT committee.
Describe the event/ request/ project in detail: National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
The committee recommends that in partnership with CD13, LAPD, LAFD, Sanitation, GPIA and GP community groups, business and organizations that we host a Touch-a-Truck event. We will invite LAPD, LAFD and many others to park their cars, trucks and interesting vehicles for the kids and families to interact with and enjoy.
We will provide free food, activities, and invite really cool trucks to participate. The goal is to bring together our community in a safe place.
