VOLUME LXXVII No.5 www.yubacitymoose.org OCT 2020 SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR While trying to stay positive, it appears that 2020 has thrown everything possible at our Moose Frater- nity. Whatever is thrown at us, we are able to adapt and overcome. It is true that we haven’t been able to have our regular weekly meals, but we feel we are getting closer to moving back inside where we can provide meals on most every night of the week. They can only hold us back for so long. We are currently working to provide an area where our smoking members will be able to stay out of the elements and at the same time, preventing their smoke from reaching our non-smoking members. That is our goal. Our efforts will be a win-win for both groups. We are meeting the California Clean Air requirements. In doing so, we have had to modify our smoking area to meet these standards, but we think that both sides will be happy. Bigger and more efficient exhaust fans, Air curtains over the doors, and a new wall to segregate our smoking members. We are striving to address the concerns of all of our members. If any members wish to donate some money toward this isolation project, we would be most appreciative. We would like to thank all the members that have already donated and/or helped in getting this done. It is no secret the membership within the Moose Fraternity is a big thing. We need everyone to renew your membership dues. Those dues provide the money that is used to support our children at Moose- heart. Their lives and needs don’t stop because of the Covid-19 virus. The senior citizens of Moose- haven continue to need our assistance in providing them a happy life with no worries about medical needs as we promised them years ago. So many times I hear people say they won’t renew their dues until the lodge opens up again. More than ever we need you to pay when your card expires. The expi- ration date doesn’t change by paying your dues later. Our endowment funds have severely been re- duced because of the lodge closures, so we are unable to send our monthly endowment donations that we normally send each month. Supporting the seniors at Moosehaven and our kids at Mooseheart is what the Moose Fraternity is all about. That’s the Moose legacy. October is the month where we have our annual Cradle fund, where you can donate any amount you wish and get your name put on the wall in the Social Quarters. All money collected goes toward the endowment fund for Mooseheart. Febru- ary we will do the Rocker Fund, which allows all proceeds go to our senior members at Moosehaven. Please renew your dues and talk to friends and family about joining our worthwhile fraternity. If you have questions, please contact me for more clarity or information. Thank you in advance as our kids and seniors need our help. LOOM OFFICE (530) 671-1204 ~ WOTM OFFICE (530) 671-1603 FAX (530) 671-5431

SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR

While trying to stay positive, it appears that 2020 has thrown everything possible at our Moose Frater-

nity. Whatever is thrown at us, we are able to adapt and overcome. It is true that we haven’t been able

to have our regular weekly meals, but we feel we are getting closer to moving back inside where we

can provide meals on most every night of the week. They can only hold us back for so long.

We are currently working to provide an area where our smoking members will be able to stay out of

the elements and at the same time, preventing their smoke from reaching our non-smoking members.

That is our goal. Our efforts will be a win-win for both groups. We are meeting the California Clean

Air requirements. In doing so, we have had to modify our smoking area to meet these standards, but

we think that both sides will be happy. Bigger and more efficient exhaust fans, Air curtains over the

doors, and a new wall to segregate our smoking members. We are striving to address the concerns of

all of our members. If any members wish to donate some money toward this isolation project, we

would be most appreciative. We would like to thank all the members that have already donated and/or

helped in getting this done.

It is no secret the membership within the Moose Fraternity is a big thing. We need everyone to renew

your membership dues. Those dues provide the money that is used to support our children at Moose-

heart. Their lives and needs don’t stop because of the Covid-19 virus. The senior citizens of Moose-

haven continue to need our assistance in providing them a happy life with no worries about medical

needs as we promised them years ago. So many times I hear people say they won’t renew their dues

until the lodge opens up again. More than ever we need you to pay when your card expires. The expi-

ration date doesn’t change by paying your dues later. Our endowment funds have severely been re-

duced because of the lodge closures, so we are unable to send our monthly endowment donations that

we normally send each month. Supporting the seniors at Moosehaven and our kids at Mooseheart is

what the Moose Fraternity is all about. That’s the Moose legacy. October is the month where we have

our annual Cradle fund, where you can donate any amount you wish and get your name put on the wall

in the Social Quarters. All money collected goes toward the endowment fund for Mooseheart. Febru-

ary we will do the Rocker Fund, which allows all proceeds go to our senior members at Moosehaven.

Please renew your dues and talk to friends and family about joining our worthwhile fraternity. If you

have questions, please contact me for more clarity or information. Thank you in advance as our kids

and seniors need our help.

GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE SENIOR REGENT’S

MESSAGE

It is now the hour of 9, so begins the prayer we say at our meetings and most functions. This month of October is the month we ask for donations to the Cradle Fund for the children of the Mooseheart. It is your donations that support and educate these children. We are hoping that the covid numbers continue to go down so that we may once again begin to serve meals each week in the lodge and the social quarters will be fully open. Till next time, Gary

Administrators Report

Hi Brothers & Co-Workers,

I hope everyone was able to watch the virtual annual convention that was held in Reno at the Atlantis Casino. It appears that we will be going back to Knott’s Berry Farm for our midyear conference in February 2021. Congrats to Bill Thompson for moving up to the Vice President position for the CA-NV Moose Association. We have a special Covid-19 liquor license that allows us to serve al-cohol outside. We have put up some EZ Ups to keep the sun and pine needles out of our drinks, so come on down and enjoy some beverages with your friends. My Super Moose for Octo-ber is Lenny Snyder who has helped out the lodge on several mechanical issues recently. Thanks Lenny, for helping us! Fraternally, Bob Criss

Hi Ladies, and Co Workers, The Fall is here and Fire has begun. Our thoughts and prayers for all vic-tims and everyone effected by these horrific fires. Hats off to the Moose Rider for having a fundraiser for the fire victims. Thank you to all who con-tributed. Please, have prayers for all the 1st responders. Thank you Toni Sherman for teaching the “Women of the Moose training class on September 13th, at our lodge. Everyone who attended learned more rules and regulations for our chapter. Thank you Arlis, Tara, and Cindy for preparing and serving the food and beverage for the day’ (continued on page 3)

A message To our members SENIOR REGENT MESSAGE

(continued)

We received #1 Chapter Award, at the 87th CA/NV State convention. It was virtual convention on Septem-ber 11th and 12th in Reno, Nevada. CONGRADULATIONS to Sue Criss for earning her Green Cap at the women’s convention. Great Job! Deneen was our July Chairman and did an excellent job. Pie sales, breakfast and the best Friday night dinner. She arranged with the help of coworkers, to make the best tamales ever. It was a record earn-ing Friday night. Excellent Job! The women’s meetings are the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. As of now , we are allowed to have meetings. I would LOVE to see some new smiling faces, please attend. Arlis Hedge’s Home (1611 W. Joseph St. Yuba City)

5:30pm

We will be having our next Higher Degree Meeting Monday, October 19th at Arlis Hedge’s home. It will be a potluck dinner. Please bring a dish to share. We will have a raffle and games. All AOF Members wel-comed to attend. We had a very successful cake walk, patri-otic raffle and plant sale. Thank you to all of the members who made donations. All the money earned will help pay for our next set of AOF members to get their degree in March. I called many of our AOF members recently to ask for a donation and I found a lot of our members had a disconnected number. Please make sure your address and cell phone is updated. It is important that we can get a hold of you if we need to. To up-date your information call the WOTM office at 530-671-1603. -Tara Croghan Higher Degree Chairman

Adopt-A-Highway

We will meet on the first Sunday of each month. We will depart from the Moose Lodge at 7:30am for our section of the highway clean-up. Remember ankle high boots, long pants and ap-propriate upper body wear is required. The hard hats, orange vests, pickers, gloves, eye wear and trash bags are furnished by Cal Trans. We are in need of more members to help us clean-up the highway. Please consider helping once a month. Both men and women are welcomed to join us. The Lodge will treat us to a buffet breakfast when we return. So come on out and help in the community service. Hope to see you there.
