Welcome to the 39th Hydrology and Water Resources Symposium (HWRS 2020)!

Engineers Australia’s National Committee on Water Engineering takes great pleasure in inviting you to the Hydrology and Water Resources Symposium 2020 (HWRS 2020) at the University of Adelaide between 21 – 24 September 2020.

The conference’s theme is “Vision”. During the conference, respected speakers both international and national will reflect on advances to date and highlight the opportunities and challenges to come in the areas of water engineering, hydrology, hydrogeology, research into and management of water resources. Areas of focus for the conference will include:

• Flood, low flow and drought –risk assessment and forecasting

• Hydro-informatics – smart data andphysical modelling

• Healthy environments• Informing water policy and operational

decisions• Integrated water resources management

(including bushfire response)• Groundwater.

The conference will provide an opportunity to network with fellow water professionals.

A highlight will be the Gala Dinner and Hydrologic Games, to decide the coveted Cumec Trophy.

HWRS 2020 is expected to attract around 150 participants, including academic researchers, government water resources experts and managers, consultants and students. Symposium attendees have a shared purpose devoted to hydrology, water engineering, related areas in water resources management and bringing together the academic and industrial communities for the exchange of ideas, concepts, and innovations.

This Symposium provides a forum for discussion and networking with some of the most highly regarded experts in their field. HWRS 2020 is the 39th conference in a series with a history of more than 50 years, and it has a very high level of trust and engagement in the hydrology and water resources profession.

HWRS 2020 GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• Settlement of all outstanding monies isrequired by no later than 30 days afterreceipt of the tax invoice or 30 days priorto the conference, whichever is earlier. If fullpayment is not received within this time, theOrganising Committee reserves the right toreassign your sponsorship or trade boothwithout notice.

• Please indicate any sensitivity of location toother companies. To ensure your sponsorshipselection or the number of trade booths yourequire, please book early. Late bookings arepossible but choices may be limited.

• Exhibitor booths are allocated on receipt ofpayment however, the organisers reservethe right to change the layout and allocationshould the need arise in the lead up to theconference. Exhibitors will be notified if thisbecomes necessary.

• In the event of cancellation sponsors and exhibitors are requested to inform the HWRS 2020 Secretariat in writing. Unless the sponsored item or exhibition space can be resold, the organisers reserve the right to retain any monies paid. Cancellations receiving a refund will incur an administration fee of $250 including GST.

• Sponsors and exhibitors are liable for anydamage they cause to the venue and/or theexhibition booths. The organiser is not liablefor damages or loss to sponsor or exhibitors’property.

• Exhibitors must be adequately covered forPublic and Product Liability Insurance. It isthe responsibility of the exhibitor to arrangeappropriate insurance for items within theirexhibition.

• Promotional activity must not impinge on ordirectly interfere with any other sponsor orexhibitor.

• Details of the exhibition build companycontracted for this event will be outlinedin the Exhibitor Manual provided to eachconfirmed exhibitor approximately 4 weeksprior to the event. They can assist with standdesign and have a wide range of accessoriesfor hire. There is limited three-phase poweravailable at the venue. Please contact theConference Manager as soon as possible ifthis required.

• Freight and Storage – Early delivery andstorage is available. It is recommended thatyour freight forwarding company is used toassist with arrangements for delivery andpickup of your goods.

• Security – The exhibition area will be lockedeach evening. It is suggested that no easilyremoved valuable items be left overnight orunattended. No responsibility can be takenfor any loss or damage to equipment anddisplay materials.

• Insurance – Only Public Liability Insuranceis included. Insurance for loss or damage toequipment or products within the exhibitionor during transport is the responsibility of theexhibitor.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The application form (above) and these terms and conditions, comprise the agreement between the Institution of Engineers Australia, trading as Engineers Australia (ABN 63 020 415 510 (“Engineers Australia”) and the Organisation referred to in the Application Form (“the Sponsor”).

2. This agreement commences on the date on which Engineers Australia notifies the Sponsor in writing that its application has been accepted and continues until a date which is 3 months after the completion of the event referred to in the application form (“the Event”).

3. Engineers Australia will provide the benefits set out in the application form to the Sponsor (“the Sponsorship Benefits”) for the Event.

4. The Sponsor will pay the amount set out in the application form (“the Sponsorship Fee”) within 30 days after receipt of a tax invoice from Engineers Australia.

5. The Sponsor grants to Engineers Australia, a non-exclusive, royalty free, revocable and non-transferable licence to use the Sponsor’s name and applicable logos and trademarks solely for the purpose of this agreement, including providing the Sponsorship Benefits.

6. Each party warrants that, in entering into this agreement, it does not breach any existing agreement with any other person or infringe the rights, including the intellectual property rights, of any third party.

7. Either party may terminate this agreement immediately by giving notice to the other party (“the Defaulting Party”), if the Defaulting Party breaches any term of this agreement and fails to remedy the breach within 7 days of receipt of a notice.

8. Engineers Australia may terminate this agreement without cause, by giving the Sponsor 30 days’ prior notice. If that occurs, Engineers Australia will refund any amount of uncommitted Sponsorship Fee paid by the Sponsor, within 30 days of termination.

9. On termination or expiry of this agreement, the Sponsor must immediately cease any promotion of itself as a sponsor of the Event and remove all links to Engineers Australia’s website(s).

10. The parties agree to treat each other’s confidential information, and the terms of this agreement (but not the agreement’s existence), as confidential information and must not reveal them to a third party without the other party’s prior consent (except as required by law, the rules of a stock exchange or to obtain legal advice).

11. Each party must comply with all applicable privacy laws, whether or not it is an organisation bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

12. This agreement contains the entire agreement between the parties about its subject matter and supersedes any previous understanding, agreement, representation or warranty relating to that subject matter. Any variation to this agreement must be agreed in writing by both parties.

13. Engineers Australia will not be liable to the Sponsor for any loss, except to the extent that such loss is suffered as a direct result of any negligent or unlawful act by Engineers Australia, up to a maximum amount equal to the total Sponsorship Fee.

14. This agreement is governed by the laws of the State or Territory in which the Event will take place.
