Meet theBoardies.P R E S I D E N T Lauren NavarroHello and welcome to CSUF's Pilipino American Student Association Kai-bigan. My name is

Lauren Navarro and I am honored to serve as your Spring 2016 President. I am a third year Economics major in the hopes of becoming a corporate lawyer, but we will see what the future holds. As president, I am responsi-ble for overseeing the day-to-day op-erations of PASA as well as being the chancellor of board meetings. If this is your very first time attending a PASA meeting, I would like to ex-tend a warm welcome to you into our organization. PASA has provided me, as well as my fellow board members, with a plethora of opportunities and experiences that have benefited me substantially as a college student and as a person. You will find the family oriented environment welcoming and hopefully, you stay to garner a wonder-ful support system to help you within and outside of the organization. While PASA may be intimidating so some, if you take the time to acclimate to the lively environment, joining and stay-ing in PASA will be a worthwhile ex-perience. For those of you returning to PASA, thank you for coming back for one more semester! I hope to make this semester enjoyable so that you may retain many positive memories during this PCN season. I hope to get closer to every one of you and I am truly blessed to be in your presence this Spring To make this concise and succinct, here is to the many memories we are yet to create. I am looking forward to a fruitful semester with all of you.

INTERNAL V. PRESIDENT - Hansel Domingo Hello new and re-turning members of PASA! My name is Hansel Domingo

and I am your Internal Vice President. I hope all of you enjoyed your break! PCN Season was my first semester in PASA and I fell in love with it. I hope everyone enjoys the bonding that PCN Season en-courages. I'll see you guys soon! Also, my favorite Pokemon is Charizard. My favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! card is Blue Eyes White Dragon. I love Kore-an BBQ. I wear a size 11 in shoes if you guys want to get me shoes or basketball.

EXTERNAL V. PRESIDENT - Tim GironHello, my name is Tim and I was born at a very young age.

A brief life story about myself: I was separated from my parents when I was born raised by a different family. Even though we was separated, my actual par-ents still watched over me and guided me throughout life. I was different than the other children so I wasn't able to be myself. I had to limit myself all the time so I couldn't play or interact with the other kids. Eventually I got older and I was given an opportunity to meet with my parents. At this moment, this was one of the highlights of my life. They gave me a pet for a gift and also gave me great advice for the future. I learned that I had to meet one of my dad's close friends in order to reunite with my fam-ily. Through extreme training and lec-tures, I was able to change from a zero to a hero! I fought off four titans and saved my father from demise. I also saved the girl of my dreams from hades. With ev-

erything that happened to me, I can go the distance; Are you willing to go the distance through PASA? I promise you, it'll be worth it!

derful winter break and I'm happy to see you all again! It's PCN season now and I encourage you all to get involved in any way you can! If you have any questions or if you just want to chat, don't hesitate to approach me!

IP ARTISTIC CO-DIRECTOR - Marc DelunaHey PASA! There's so much to be involved in

this semester, especially with PCN com-ing up this semester. This really is the semester that PASA can really spend together as a club, so I really suggest get-ting involved through joining in anyway you can whether it be through acting, cultural dances, stage committee, or IP! This season was what really ignited my love for this Club, along with IP!

IP CO-CAPTAIN - Bre LanningI don't know if this is wrong. Because some-one else is telling me

that it's wrong. But I feel this so let me just like, try my best not to let this happen again. We weren't nec-essarily put in the best position to make the best decisions. You can't be hard on yourself. For these were the cards that you were given so you have to understand that these, like… That's not who you are. You're trying to be the best you can be but that's all you can do. If you don't give it all you got, you're only cheating your-self. Give it all you got. But if it ends up happening, it ends up happening. That's what it's....that's what's happening with me. I’m giving it all I got.

IP CO-CAPTAIN - Dustin SampangHello PASA! My name is Dustin Sampang, your IP Co-Captain, and I just wanna start

off by saying welcome to PASA! This se-mester we have so much in store for you all especially with PCN coming up very soon. IP PR DIRECTOR -Louie JotaHello Kaibigans, I am your IP public relations director and my first

piece of advice for all you Spring babies joining AND to all you re-turners is to COME TO IP AUDITION WORKSHOPS TOMORROW NIGHT @7:30 PM UNDER THE BRIDGE (Sorry for shouting). My second piece of advice to you is to BE ACTIVE IN PASA! You won't regret it. Being a for-mer spring baby myself, I know it can be a little overwhelming, but I promise, if you just put yourself out there and GET INVOLVED, you won't regret it! PCN (Pilipino-Culture Night) is a great ex-perience and you really do meet a ton of new people who could end up being some of your closest friends! So come out to events, get involved in PCN, and have a great time! But most important-ly... COME AUDITION FOR INFINITE PASABILITIES' SPRING 2016 TEAM! Thank you!

IP is a great way to get involved with PASA, so you should audition PLS. This might be overwhelming for you new people join-ing PASA/IP this semester, but don't let your emotions restrict you. Building up the courage to tryout for IP or getting in-volved with PCN might open new doors for you. Good luck to all of you putos this semester!!!

to get this upcoming semester going! Whether you're an upcoming or return-ing member, please get yourself involved in PASA's many events and showcases. Although it may be a bit risky at first, trust me when I say that it is for sure worth your time and effort. The people you meet are second to none, the lessons you learn are very reflecting, and the experiences you gain are irreplaceable. Join whatever your heart desires, wheth-er it be IP, Sportsfest, a dance for PCN, or whatever else that pops up during Spring! IP Spring Workshops

IP Winter Team"Winter team is hip hoppin' and a great experience!" - Hannah pipes

"It honestly feels surreal even up to this day. At first I was hel-la nervous and so hesitant of the opportunity to teach my own choreo but once the workshop came, it was a breeze. It makes me so happy to see people dance my choreo and to watch them enjoy it as well is a bonus! Just wanted to give a shoutout to all who came to learn my piece and for the people that cast and blocked for it. And just special thanks to Firelord Phong for giving me the opportunity to give back to the team. Love ya'll and see ya'll soon!"- KEVIN DELA FLOR

CACC CornerMost of the Filipino families in the Philippines had a hard time providing for themselves. Since they live in these type of situations, they immigrated from Philippines to the Unit-ed states because they need to access more resources. The McCarran- Walter Act of 1952 provided the entry of relatives of the US citizens which in-cludes the Philippines. In 1966 to 1975, 114,107 Filipinos im-migrated to the United States. Philippines largest number of asians coming into the United States.

anALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Nathan BarriosWingapo, friends! My name is T.J. Yarcia and I’m your Alumni Liason this semester. Every Kronicle I will be interviewing an alumni about their life in and after PASA, with additional random and interesting commentary. Without further ado, our first alumni this semester is Nathan Barrios!

What was your first impression of PASA?After I went to a meeting, my first impres-sion was that it was still a group of people of who already knew each other, but were also welcoming.

What positions did you take up when you were active in PASA?Kronicle Editor, Community Advocacy Cultural Chair, PCN Coordinator, Fireside Sleeper

What family are you in?Tubig. Fuck the drought.

How is life after PASA?I don't want to depress anyone reading this so the short answer is: fine. Just kidding, all things considered it's not bad. I'll just end with: Fuck Donald Trump.

What advice can you give to members who want be a part of board?1. Know that there are multiple ways to contribute to and support PASA, and con-sider that before committing to being a part of it. 2. You don't have to hold 5 different po-sitions over your college career to make a difference, some people make waves in

this organization in one semester just be-cause of their ambition.3. Leave on a good note.

Any advice in general?Do well in class. Let yourself be chal-lenged in thought - you coming out of col-lege seeing the world same way as before you started is a waste of tuition.Hug your friends before you part ways.

Thank you to Nathan Barrios! For the full interview, please look at the PASA Group Page on Facebook.
