Spring/Summer 2015 Internships The Commons at Fertile Ground is excited to offer internship opportunities for TESC students in the spring and summer quarters of 2015. We look forward to working with students to prepare our garden for bountiful production, and to offer rich educational opportunities for youth. TESC students will learn and practice organic gardening, and develop and teach seedtotable curriculum to youth, under the supervision of a longtime garden educator. Spring and summer interns will earn internship credit. Summer interns who commit to working our Seed to Table camp and have received prior training will also receive a stipend (amount TBD). Spring Quarter will start with garden soil preparation, garden planning, and irrigation installation. We will then progress to seed starting and planting. We will also host experiential opportunities for preschool and grade school youth throughout the season. Summer Quarter will consist of teaching Seed to Table camp for ages 512, five days a week, from June 22 July 24. Each day will feature both gardening and cooking activities. Each week will have different garden and cooking themes. Intern interest will be considered and incorporated into the curriculum. Join Us! The Commons at Fertile Ground is a Washington State nonprofit dedicated to cultivating urban sustainability and resilience on a neighborhood scale. We are located on 9th Avenue SE in downtown Olympia, directly behind the Olympia Timberland Library.
