SJBIT is one of the 500 Educational institutions under the umbrella of Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust ® Benefitted nearly a Lakh students every year. The sprawling 50acre campus of SJBIT is aesthetically constructed with spacious classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, Central Library, all modern facilities and well developed sports ground coupled with dedicated and experienced faculty has made the campus a much sought-after adobe of learning. The total built up area of the college being 5,00,000 Sq.ft. SJBIT feels elated for having expanded to an intake capacity of 720 students from 180 students during its inception. • The department of CSE has organized “Technical Symposium” on 10th May 2017 along with National Conference on “Recent Trends in CSE”.

• The department has conducted three days workshop for 4th semester students on “Web Development” from 11th to 13th April 2017 by Mr. Selva Kumar, Future Tech Solutions, Bengaluru.

• In view of building a strong foundation towards understanding machine learning concepts the department has conducted Six Days workshop on “Machine Learning with Python and R Tool” from 16th to 21st Jan 2017

• The department has organized a technical talk on “Deep Learning” for 6th Semester students on 18th February 2017. The speaker for the seminar was Dr. Manjunath S, Chief Engineer, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Co. Ltd, Bengaluru.

• The Department has organized a technical talk on “Recent trends in Data mining” on 12th April 2017. This seminar was for 6th, 8th Semester and M.Tech students. The resource person for recent trends in Data mining was Dr. Sharath Kumar Y H, Professor and Head, MIT, Mysuru.

• Adithya Sirish & Yaichen Kongbam Team from the department won Technical Quiz competition held at EC department, SJBIT on 25th April17and also won 2nd

prize in Technical Quiz competition held at BNMIT on 03rd March 17.

• Cisco certification course conducted for 6th sem students from 20th Feb 17 to 25th Feb 17.

• Industrial visit to IISc, Bengaluru, has organized by department for 6th semester BE students accompanied by our faculty members, on 3rd March 2017.

• The Department has organized a 5 days trip from 29th March to 2nd April 2017 to Goa for 6th semester students along with the faculty members. The trip gave students a refreshing, adventurous and nostalgic experience.

• Department has organized one day excursion to “Nandi hills & Ghati Subramanya”on 10th Jan 2017.All our faculties actively took part and had a lot of fun and it was refreshing too.

• The department has organized a six days faculty development program on “Real Time WSN and Network Simulator” from 18th July to 23rd July 2016.

• The department has conducted Three days workshop on “AJAX-Jquery” from 03rd Nov 2016 to 05th Nov 2016 in association with IEEE student chapter and VSR Future Tech Limited.

• The department has conducted guest lecturer on “App Awareness Program” for 5th &7th semester students on 09th Aug 2016 by Mr. Mohit R. Hegde, Director, Creative infotech, Bengaluru.

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITY• Department Technical Fest “ELYSIA-2017” was

conducted and organized by our department which gives platform to showcase their talents in various areas.

• 6th sem students had gone to Industrial Trip, CSIR-NIO, Goa from 12th April 2017 to 16th April 2017, which is a multi-disciplinary oceanographic research institute.

• 2nd International conference on “Applied And Theoretical Computing And Communication Technology” was held from 21st to 23rd July 2016.

• We had organized a guest lecture on Business Intelligence and Analytics by Proedge Consulting &Training, Career Opportunities for Higher Studies by T.I.M.E, Bengaluru

• All faculty members are been to Guhantara Resort on 5th Jan 2017 which is a good place to relax, and have fun. It provides good environment for indoor and outdoor games.

• One of our faculty members Prof. Chetan R was nominated for Wipro Talent Next Programme-2017.He is certified as Wipro Certified Faculty after clearing the exam.

• Farewell party was organized by juniors to to their seniors and wishing them all the very best in their future

• Under Staff club activity, staff of ISE planted various saplings near SJBIT playground on 10th Sep 2016.

• The department of EEE entered Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy and Development (MGIRED) on 15

th October, 2016 for promoting and reinforcing

cooperation, mutual exchange of Information and Technological know- how, joint collaborative work in R&D projects, curriculum development, internships and placements, infrastructure development, improvement of research and academic programmes and exchange of experts and researchers.

• In order to provide exposure to technical and economical issues related to the integration of distributed generation five days faculty development workshop was conducted on “Research Issues & Challenges in Power System Operation: Distributed

• The 3rd semester students were taken to KPTCL, 220KV Bidadi Station on 23rd September, 2016.The visit helped students to understand practically the structure and various components of power system.

• 7th semester students visited CPRI, Bengaluru on 28th September, 2016 and understood how testing and certification of various power equipment is done.

• The State Load Despatch Center(SLDC) under KPTCL is an Apex body to ensure integrated operation of the power system in Karnataka. 5th semester students were taken to SLDC, 220/66KV on 24th August, 2016.

• The young creative minds of the EEE carried out the technical festival- Dyuthi-16, on 31st August, 2016.

• Mr.Ganeshan Vishwanathan from ViswaJothi Technologies Pvt.Ltd.,delivered an expert talk on “Drives and Controls” on 26th October, 2016 to 7th semester students.

• Mr.Murthy from PACE Engineering, Bengaluru, shared his valuable information on “AC-DC Drive and

• A Six days Faculty development Program On “IOT for Emerging Engineering Applications” and 5th state level technical staff workshop on “IOT and its Applications” was conducted from 23rd to 25th January 2017, in Dept of ECE, SJBIT, Bengaluru

• Conducted staff awareness programme on “LPG safety measures” by the company GAS SAFE on 13th Feb 2017, Monday in order to create alertness on domestic usage of LPG.

• Students celebrated Teachers’ day in the department on 7th September 2016 by organizing events for teachers and expressed their respect and gratitude through celebration.

• The department planned and successfully conducted yoga classes during the month of June and July and was open for all employees of the college. The classes were conducted by expert yoga trainers from Pathanjali Yoga Shikshana Samithi.International Yoga Day was also celebrated on 21st June 2016 during yoga class.

• Two weeks short training program was organized in the department for 2nd, 3rd and final year students from 30th Jan 2017 to 11th Feb 2017. The training program is aimed to bridge the gap between academic syllabus and industrial requirement and to enhance technical skills in students to meet industry requirement.

• NCATEE-17, the 8th National Conference on “Advanced Techniques in Electrical and Electronics Engineering” was held on 10th May 2017.

• An employee undergoing training is presumed to have had some formal education. With this view non-teaching staffs of the department were trained for conduction of labs through 3 days workshop on “Technical Training to Non- Teaching staffs” from 1st

Feb to 3rd Feb 2017.

• Dr. T. C. Manjunath, Professor & HOD, Dept. of ECE, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering gave a technical talk on “Recent Advances In The Development Of Bio/Medical Robotics From The Nano-Technology Concept & Its Applications In The Modern Day World To The Society” on 3rd May 2017

to 6th and 8th semester students.

• Mr. Shiva Shankar, Branch Manager, Prolific Systems & Technologies Pvt. Ltd Bengaluru, briefed about job opportunities in Industrial Automation on 8th May 2017 for 8th semester students.

• Industrial visit for the academic year 2016-17 was organized on 13th to 15th and April 2017.The 8th Semester students visited Anglo French textile industry as a part of industrial visit and the students of 6th Semester visited Supa Dam Hydroelectric Power Station located in Joida taluk of Uttara Kannada district.

• Parent Teacher Meeting was held on 6th May 2017, at seminar hall of the department. All the parents were invited for the meeting to discuss Attendance, internal assessment marks, results of previous semesters and extra-curricular activities of students.

• An exhibition of engineering projects designed and developed by the final year outgoing students of the department was held on 17th May 2017.The exhibition was evaluated by Mr. Madhumali, Assistant Director, PCKL and Ms. Malini K V, HOD, EEE Department SAIRAM Engineering College.

• To relax and refresh from regular work staff trip was organized on 25th January, 2017 to Mango Mist.

• Ramanavami a religious and traditional festival, was celebrated in the department with great enthusiasm by the teaching and non-teaching staffs and students on 5th

April 2017.

• The department organized Farewell Party “Au Revoir” on 20th May 2017. where the 3rd and 2nd year students bid farewell to the final year students with great zeal.

• Students of BGSPS, had visited mechanical department on 21st JAN 2017. Around 300+ students ranging from 5th std to 10th std had come for the visit. The department had made arrangements for the students to visit various Laboratories of mechanical department and had assigned faculty members to guide the students and explain them about the working of each laboratory.

• 5 Days Staff Development Program on “In House Technical Staff Training” for Technical staff members was conducted from 23rd Jan 2017 to 28th Jan 2017.

• Students of 8th semester with Dr. M K Krishna and Mrs. Lakshmi C visited the KMF and Sugar mill on 13th March 2017 to enhance Management knowledge in practical perspective.

• On 4th May 2017, Dr. M K Krishna and Mr. H Narendra Kumar along with students of 6th semester visited the water treatment plant located in the Thorekadanahalli to enhance technical knowledge in practical perspective

DEPARTMENT OF BASIC SCIENCE

• Department of Mechanical Engineering, SJBIT had organized a One day Inter Collegiate Technical Fest, Mpower-17 on 28th of March 2017. The event was powered by Royal Enfield, who were the main sponsors. Various events were conducted and different colleges had participated in the event.

• KSCST project titled “Design and fabrication of Solar Assisted Food grain disinfestations system” was successfully completed by student project group of 8th semester under the guidance of Dr. Kirankumar P

• National Conference on “TTMT-2017” was held on 10th May 2017. The event provides the appropriate platform to interact and share ideas and expand their knowledge.

• Guest lecture session was held for 8th Sem students on “Aerospace Design and Structural Analysis” by Mr. Sudhakar Shukla from P3 Academy on 26th April 2017.

• Anjan Kumar, 2nd sem M.Tech student won Best paper award in the 8th National conference held in MBA Dept. SJBIT.

• The department staff club had organized a visit to ISCKON temple & nearby places on 20th Jan 2017. All the staff members visited goshala and relished the prasadam offered at the temple.

• Meditation is being carried out in the department every Wednesday afternoon in the department seminar hall. Interested staff members participated in the program

• Farewell for the outgoing students of 8th semester UG and 4th semester PG was organised by students of 6thsemester and 2nd semester UG and PG respectively.

• Mr. Shubham V phoolari, alumni student 2012-2015 batch interacted with students of 6th semester B

section on 11th May 2017. He shared his experience and highlighted about preparation for higher studies.

• Bharath HR, Bharath R, Pramod N and Vijay kumar UC [Alumni students] have won the First consolation prize in “Science and Technological Solutions for Specially Abled Persons” State level Science/Technical/Medical Exhibition cum competition was held at VTU on 10th

March 2017.

• Ramanavami was organized by staff members of the department on 20th May 2017. In this occasion, prasadam like moong dal and cucumber salad, buttermilk, panaka, was prepared by staff themselves and distributed to students and staffs of the college.

• Ethnic day was celebrated in the department on 20th

May 2017. Students had come in a traditional attire. 2nd semester M-Tech students had an attire of North Karnataka style as a theme. The staff members had an attire of traditional dhoti and shirt. Lady faculties had come with traditional saree.

• YAANTRIK-17 is an inter-Collegiate. Project exhibition Competition held at City Engineering College by Mechanical Engineering Department. 8th semester students, Mr. Rishabh Tripathi, Raushan Kumar, Rakesh D, Rahul yadav, Suraj Upadhyaya, Vikranth kumar, Poojith, Vijaya Vittala of SJBIT Mechanical Department participated in project exhibition in CITI Engg College on 24th May 2017.

• As a part of encouragement and showcasing the work carried out by final year students of 8th semester project, UG Project Exhibition was held in the department premises on 18th May 2017 & 19th May 2017. Various innovative projects in the field of Agriculture, automotive, manufacturing, solar, product design etc were developed by the students.

DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES (MBA)

The Department is successfully headed by Prof. Pushpalatha V. The Department of Management

Studies was established at SJBIT in the year 2008, a recognized center for MBA education in the country offers a 2 year full time MBA programmme approved by AICTE & affiliated to VTU with an intake of 120 students.

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITY

• The SJBIT MBA has taken unique initiative and pioneer to implement Apple Digital Classrooms which empowers teachers and students to collaborate, creating Multi-touch learning environment. Faculty has been trained professionally on iPAD as well as iMAC and has become competent APPLE Certified Trainers to prepare the students for 21st Century learning.

• IPAD training for students of MBA was given during November for 4 full days to equip them for Digital Classes by Creative InfoTech team. After the training the students got an awareness on the usage of IPAD for academic purpose.

• On 23rd of November it was marked as a memorable day in the life of all the freshers of MBA Department, as MANTHANA 2016 was celebrated at Television Artist’s Cultural and Sports Club in Uttarahalli, Bengaluru.

• Department of management studies (MBA) is committed to serve the society by lending its helping hands to poor, destitute, needy, orphans and old age in alignment with the Poojya Maha Swamiji’s vision “Service to Mankind is Service to God”, this unique initiative has been carried out every semester under the theme “AASARE-Namminda Nimagagi” on 5th April 2017.

SJBIT Library & Information Centre has adequate facilities for students to pursue their studies and to acquire Knowledge. Library has an independent block with a total floor

area of 3157 Sqm., with good natural lighting & ventilation. It has separate Stack area, Reference section with adequate number of reference materials, a separate digital Library section with 50 Computer terminals, the Periodical section & a Seminar Hall.

Library is equipped with collection of nearly 40,000 Books, 1300 Project reports, 2350 CD/DVD’s, and 15,000 E-Books which can be accessed online. The Library at present is subscribing to 80+ National and International Technical Print Journals & Magazines. Library is also an institutional member of DELNET, and British Council Library, Bengaluru. During the academic year 2016-17 Library has added 261 titles and 2162 volumes to its collection with an investment of 8,84,514.00

The SJBIT Library is a member of VTU Consortium. Through this consortium IP based access is provided to, Online databases viz., IEEE Xplore, Elsevier Science Direct, Springer Journals, ASCE, Pro Quest Engineering & Management, Taylor & Francis Journals, CRC e-books,

Springer E-books and Videeya E-books. During the academic year 2016-17, among the top 10 institutions in VTU utilizing the E-resources, SJBIT stood 6th Place in downloading resources from ASCE, Springer and Knimbus.

An User awareness program was organized for the fresh batch of students of academic year 2016-17, during the 2nd week of August 2016 to acquaint the new students about utilizing the library resources and services.

An institutional repository of information resources has been created using an open source repository software DSpace, which is accessible over the LAN through the link http://192.168.60.81:8080/jspui/. In this repository, users can access previous year question papers, E-Books, faculty publications, newspaper clippings etc.

VTU Inter Collegiate Tournament / Coaching camp/ Team selections trials organization at SJBIT 2016-17

Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi had given the responsibility of hosting the Cricket

(Bangalore South Zone), Football (Bangalore South Zone - for Men), Badminton (Bangalore South Zone - for Men & Women) Tournament at SJBIT.

The Cricket tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Puttaraju, Principal, SJBIT on 28th February to 12th March

2016 at SJBIT Cricket ground. 23 teams are participated in Bangalore South Zone Tournament.

SJBIT hosted VTU Inter Collegiate Bangalore South Zone Football (Men) Tournament -2016-17 on 11th & 12th

• conducted Rally programme for environment protection and Awareness programme on environment and Health for the villagers of Banandur on account of “World Aids Day” We were very happy to watch our plants grow and see that they were well taken care of by the villagers.

• conducted a sapling planting programme in SJBIT college campus. On account of “Martyr Day” The student volunteers enjoyed twiddling their green thumbs and the fresh air during this programme. This was one beautiful step in making our campus greener and healthier.
