Monsignor John StrynkowskiMonsignor John Strynkowski was ordained in Rome for the Diocese of Brooklyn on December 18, 1963.

After serving as a parochial vicar in Brooklyn, he returned to Rome in 1969 to complete doctoral studies. He began service to the Holy See first in the Secretariat of State (1971-1973) and then in the Congregation for Bishops (1973-1979). He also served as Assistant Spiritual Director at the North American College from 1976-1979.

He was professor of Theology at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, New York, from 1979-1995, and also

Rector from 1985-1995. He served as a pastor from 1995-2000 and then went to serve at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, first as Assistant Secretary for Catholic Higher Education (2000-2001) and then as Executive Director of the Secretariat for Doctrine and Pastoral Practice (2001-2005).

He was Rector of St. James Cathedral, Brooklyn, and Vicar for Higher Education from 2005 until his retirement in 2015.

He has preached many priests’ retreats and spoken at numerous conferences on ecclesiology, ministry and spirituality. He has also published a number of articles on these topics.
