MESSAGE FROM TIJOACHAN

Dear Saint Jude Family,

Praise Jesus and His most holy Mother! Prayers for all of you for a blessed new year!!!

2013 began with the Adoration and commending of the whole year to the Most Holy Eucharist. What a wonderful

year our Lord gave us in 2013.

Different ministries, coordinators, leaders continued their commitment; everyone as a family started working again hard for the good

of our little mission church. Our dear Lord gave us Four days Mass a week. Many of our little angels received their First Holy Com-

munion, sacrament of penance and Holy Confirmation. The number of children enrolled of CCD increased steadily. Our VBS, Sha-

lom, 4Life contributed so much to our spiritual growth. With the hard work and constant prayers and the intercession of Saint Jude,

God blessed our Raffle program. Many other blessings and graces we have received. Was our Lord reminding us of His love and

support to Saint Jude’s!

Somehow, from somewhere, Saint Jude decided to stay with his beloved children! We received the relic of Saint Jude! We grew as

a family. There were moments of joy, sorrow, planning, success, failures, love, competition etc. All those taught us, no matter what,

first we are Saint Jude’s, a family owned by our dear Lord Jesus Christ, a family of God. Humility and forgiveness are our values!

We never know what waits in the future for us. Will we secure a land or a space for ourselves this year? We don’t know. But we are

sure of one thing; we have our Lord as our King and Savior with us. We continue to trust in Him. We may see more people joining

Saint Jude’s this year, some might leave us; but, the face of our little ones brings hope to us. We are never afraid. We care about

them and pray that May Good Lord give them a peaceful future.

All of us are aging, time flies so quickly. It is the only life and the only chance to live it the way our dear Lord wants us to! Each mo-

ment is an invitation to live a life as God’s family, a life in its fullest. Let us remain one heart, one soul in Christ our Lord.

May Good Lord bless you.

Raffle Fundraising a success...

Let us all thank HIM, our dear Lord, for keeping us together, leading us to this successful event. It is only after consecrating all our

fundraising efforts to Our Lord through the intercession of Saint Jude; it’s only after we started praying for the success of the raffle, we

saw a tremendous growth in sales. We clearly experienced the presence of Him within us. Praise God! He blessed us so much.

Saint Jude family stood together in times of struggle, when we were losing our hope. No, it is Our Lord who kept us together. This suc-

cess is an evidence of the Grace of God working through each one of us. It is the victory of each and every Saint Jude family. Congratu-

lations! So many people worked hard on and behind the scenes to bring the raffle. Let us remember their names with gratitude.

Dilip Vadakoot, Sony Kuruvila and Sony Cheruvathur were the pillars of the raffle team on which our Lord helped us to build our raffle

program. Saint Jude’s cannot imagine the tremendous amount of work they had undertaken. Our trustees led by Rony, supported by

Rajesh effectively coordinated and led the whole raffle program from the beginning till the end. Anotney Kallikka supported us as a trus-

tee by motivating the team. Our parish council deserves special congratulations for their thoughtful guidance and decisions. Charles

Thomas and Jimmy Thomas were there from the beginning to effectively plan and coordinate the raffle program.

Baiju Thomas and Rajesh Joy best designed the website and all the beautiful brochures, tickets and everything of that sort. Jophy called

so many people each day to arrange and coordinate all our outside trips; Regi Alexander and Jilson helped so much in the efforts to

plan and go to other places. Under the leadership of Regi Jose, we had the best follow up ever. Online sales were taken care of by the

effective coordination and hard work of Smitha Regi, Smitha Saju and Reetha Shaju. Mary and Ciji were always there to travel to any

place with their little one.

All our intercessory prayers were coordinated by Blessy Rony, without which we wouldn’t have the strength to move forward. Preena

Sony made a chart and updated it which helped us to know where we are which also motivated us. All the names mentioned above did

more, but what we have mentioned was one area without which the raffle would have suffered so much.

Sales Team: This team was the power behind the sales. With gratitude we remember each of their trips and hard work to approach

people and beg them to take tickets. Jophy Jose, Ciji Joseph, Merry Ciji, Dilip Vadakkoot, Tony Augustine, Rajesh Alex, Sony

Pavu, Jimmy Thomas, Olga Jilson, Smitha Tom, Elsamma Manalel, Sherly Pulickan, Deepa Sergin, Smitha Saju and Roshan Alex.

Follow up Team: Without this team we wouldn’t have raised enough. Their constant follow up without losing hope even when they did

not see any response from some, contributed so much for our success. We remember you with so much love and gratitude. Regi Jose,

Smitha Tom, Jeena Jinu, Neena Sujith, Cema Gritto, Charles Thomas, Bibson, Shajan Paul, Merry Ciji, Jereesh Jose, Sabu Pulickan,

Top individual sales: All of us worked hard to sell the tickets given to us. It was not at all easy for any one of us. But we tried our best.

Some of us really worked hard head over heels to the extent of selling so many tickets beyond our expectation. Let us thank these peo-

ple specially.

Do You Know that...

Saint's corner for Kids - St. Thomas Aquinas Feast Day : January 28

1. The sacrament of Penance is not a sacrament of initiation in the Catholic church. It is one of the Sacraments of Healing.

2. The first print version of the Liturgy of the Hours (Divine Praises) in Syriac was done by Father Paul Bedjan and was

published in 3 volumes under the title 'Breviarium juxta Ritum Syrorum Orientalium id est Chaldaeorum' in 1886-87

St. Thomas Aquinas is the patron saint of all universities and all students. He is also known as the “angelic doctor”. He was an Italian Dominican friar and priest and an immensely influential philosopher and theologian. Thomas is also distinguished for his Eucharistic hymns which form a part of Church’s liturgy. Thomas is honored as a saint by the Catholic Church and is held to be the model teacher for those studying for the priesthood. In modern times, under papal directives, the study of his works was long used as a core of the required program of study for those seeking ordination as priests or deacons. Also honored as a Doctor of the Church, Thomas is considered the Church’s greatest theologian and philosopher. Pope Benedict XV declared: “This (Dominican) order … acquired new luster when the Church declared the teaching of Thomas to be her own and that Doctor, honored with the special praises of the Pontiffs, the master and patron of Catholic schools.”

St. Thomas Aquinas was born in late in the year 1226 and died in March 1274.
