CONFIANZA EN DIOS En este último domingo de Adviento las lecturas se enfocan en el nacimiento histórico de Jesús: el hijo de David e Hijo de Dios, niño y rey, Jesús y Emmanuel. El profeta Isaías le suplica a Ajaz que pida una señal, para permitir a Dios que le asegure la sobrevivencia de la dinastía de David. El rey hipócrita rehúsa “tentar al SEÑOR” de esa manera (Isaías 7:12), pero el profeta predice el naci-miento de un hijo, un heredero al trono, quien probará la duradera protección divina del linaje elegido del trono de David. El niño será llamado Emmanuel. Mateo se refiere a esta historia en su descripción de los puntos principales del nacimiento de Jesús que con-trasta a Ajaz quien rehúsa confiar por falta de fe, y la completa confianza en Dios que María y José demostra-ron al cooperar con el nacimiento de Jesucristo. TRUST IN GOD On this final Sunday of Advent our scriptures focus on the historical birth of Jesus, who is son of David and Son of God, child and king, Jesus and Emmanuel. Isaiah the prophet begs Ahaz to ask for a sign, to al-low God to offer him reassurance of the survival of the Davidic dynasty. The king hypocritically refuses to “tempt the LORD” in that way (Isaiah 7:12), but the prophet foretells the birth of a son, an heir to the throne, who will prove the Lord’s enduring protection of God’s chosen lineage on the throne of David. The child will be called Emmanuel. Matthew’s reference to this history in his description of the birth of Jesus highlights the contrast between the faithless refusal of trust shown by Ahaz, and the complete trust in God shown by Mary and Joseph in bringing about the birth of Jesus Christ. Homeless Ministry The Homeless Ministry is asking for the following items from the congregation: any winter clothing, jackets, sweaters, heavy socks,

gloves, new blankets, used blankets in good condition. The Ministry will be distributing these items to our homeless around our area.

Donations can be dropped off at the parish office.

If you have not reserved your meeting room and breakfasts for next year 2020, please pass by the office to fill out the forms. We have extended the deadline to Monday December 23rd. We will not be reserving any breakfast after that date. The Bible Diaries 2020 are now available for sale at our parish gift shop and in the parish office. They are on sale for $12 dollars. It contains the first read-ing and gospel for each day of the year and a brief reflection as well as other helpful material. We have them available in both English and Spanish.

Suggested Guidelines for Mass during the Flu/Cold season

Do Not come to Mass if you have Flu like symptoms.

Do Not bring children to mass that have flu like symptoms or are ill. Do Not receive from the Chalice or shake hands with others if you have a scratchy throat, sniffles, coughing or sneezing. Do Not touch your face or mouth without first washing your hands. Wash your hands good with hot water and soap before and after Mass. When you can’t wash your hands use a hand sanitizer with at least 62% alcohol. Get your flu shot, get plenty or rest, eat a balanced diet, drink water and exercise. Use these guidelines for all events of your daily living and be well.

-God’s people should remember that they are excused from attending Mass if: (a) they are ill with the flu or have reason to believe that they have flu like symptoms; (b) must stay home to care for a family member who is ill; or (c) they reasonably fear they will spread a flu virus.

Lineamientos Sugeridos para la Misa durante la temporada de gripe/resfríos

No venga a misa si tiene síntomas de gripe. No traiga a misa niños que tengan síntomas de gripe o estén enfermos. No tome del cáliz o salude con la mano a otros si tiene garganta irritada, nariz congestionada, tose o estornuda. No toque su rostro o boca sin lavarse las manos primero. Lávese las manos bien con agua caliente y jabón antes y después de misa. Cuando no pueda lavarse las manos, use un desinfectante de manos con por lo menos 62% de alcohol. Pónganse la vacuna contra la gripe, descanse bien, coma una dieta balanceada, tome mucha agua, y haga ejercicio. Use estas guías para todos los eventos de su vida diaria, y este bien. -El Pueblo de Dios debe recordar que están excusados de aten-der a misa si: (a) tienen la enfermedad de la gripe o tienen razón para creer que tienen síntomas relacionados con la gripe; (b) deben quedarse en casa para cuidar de un miembro de la fa-milia que esté enfermo; o (c) tienen miedo razonable de que propagaran el virus de la gripe.
