DID YOU KNOW National Sanctity of Human Life Day will be observed Sunday, January 15, 2017?
This observance was first designated in 1984 and has been declared on the 3
rd Sunday in January by several
U.S. Presidents. It was chosen to coincide with the anni-versary of the Roe vs Wade Supreme Court decision on January 22, 1973. For 44 years, abortion has been legal in our country during ALL 9 months of pregnancy!
DID YOU KNOW the entire genetic identity of the new human being is determined immediately at the moment of conception?
DID YOU KNOW that the heart of every pre-born baby is beating at only 21 days old?
DID YOU KNOW that brain waves can be detected on an unborn child at 6 weeks old? All body organs are present and working! All that is needed now is nourish-ment and time to grow!
DID YOU KNOW that each pre-born human can suck his or her thumb and turn somersaults at 4 months old? Two weeks later, he or she can experience pain.

Haiti Mission Trip from All Saints: Please keep the team in your prayers as they leave Monday, January 16th at 5:40 am. They will return Wednesday Jan 25th at 10:45 pm. Team commissioning will be at 10:30 am Mass at All Saints on Sunday the 15th.

January 22, 2017 marks the 44th Anniversary of the Surpeme Court Decision Roe V Wade. Our Social Jus-tice Commission is planning an hour of prayer at St. Isidore on that day from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 Stay a few minutes, stay the entire hour. Information on additional opportunities throughout Linn County and the State are listed on the Social Justice page of our website.

Iowa Right to Life has canceled the Midwest March for Life that was to take place on January 13th, 2017. The bishops of Iowa have rescheduled the annual Mass for Life for Sunday, Jan. 15th, 2017 at 5 p.m. at Saints John and Paul Church in Altoona. The Mass will take place at the conclusion of the first day of the Iowa Insti-tute for Social Action. Bishop Martin Amos of Daven-port will be the homilist. Registration is not required for the Mass. BIRTHRIGHT CELEBRATION EVENT – Mark your
calendars for our Birthright Celebration event (formerly called Dance for Life) to be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 6 to 10pm at the new St. Jude Parish Hall, sponsored by the St. Jude Knights of Columbus Coun-cil. This family-friendly fun evening will include a light meal, variety of dance music by DJ Bill Kauffman, karao-ke, silent auction, door prizes and children’s activities. Knights of Columbus Club 5677 will be serving on Sunday January 15th from 5:00 –6:30 p.m. at the hall located at Mt. Vernon Rd and Highway 13. The meal includes choice of French fries or baked potato, salad, dessert, coffee or fountain pop. Ten-derloin dinner $7.00 Chicken dinner $8.00 and Shrimp dinner $9.00 Kids meal of chicken nug-gets and French fries $5.00 Public is welcome!
Mercy Hospital will be holding a Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Course in Spring, 2017. Faith Community Nursing (Parish Nursing) is a rec-ognized specialty practice that combines profes-sional nursing and health ministry, with emphasis on healing within a faith community. The Course will be held at Mercy and class dates are March 21, 23, and April 4, 6 from 4:30 to 8:30 pm and March 24, and April 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 35.7 contact hours of nursing CE will be awarded for attending all classes.
