The before and after care option is also a great fit for my family. The teachers and administrators are friendly, professional, and excellent at getting the very best out of the children. Around the Parish

Parish Pastoral Council Nominations For the next few weeks we will looking for nominations for parishioners to serve on the Parish Pastoral Council. It should be helpful for all parishioners to understand what a parish pastoral council is. A parish pastoral council, in collaboration with the parish staff assumes responsibility for the parish’s total well-being. The parish pastoral council safeguards and promotes the unity of the parish community. The council works with the entire parish community to create a vision for the future, to identify a clear mission and to develop long and short term goals. It is re-sponsible to see that the mission of the parish is lived and that the elements on parish life are supported.

As a group of Christian leaders, the council is a witness to the parish that diverse beliefs, val-ues and expectations can be pulled together and when needed, barriers can be removed The council models Christianity-in-action, strives to be faith-filled community and is caring and responsive to itself as well as to the parish at large. It makes decisions and serves the parish community in a spirit of collaboration, the en-tire faith community in mind. The effectiveness of the council gives witness to how the laity can be empowered in a parish.

Stewardship Thought for the Week A common theme on this celebration of All Saints’ Day is the universal call to holiness. The Scripture passage from the Book of Revelation combines two of St. John’s visions of the eternal throne. He sees those in white robes washed “in the blood of the lamb.” They have lived holy, virtuous lives, earning them eternal salvation. In St. John’s First Let-ter, he indicates that the faithful are children of God. This includes all, not just the saints, who have purified them-selves through God’s love with a goal of eternal life. St. Matthew’s Gospel proclaims his version of the Beatitudes. Like the saints, faithful stewards are called to holiness by making these Beatitudes a way of life. We know that by living these directives, peace, joy, and holiness will perme-ate our lives.
