1 Pt 2:20b-25; Jn 10:1-10
But whoever enters through the gate is the shepherd
of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the
sheep hear his voice, as the shepherd calls his own
sheep by name and leads them out. John 10:2-3
In the heat of summer, we headed to a large swimming
hole. One of the ways you could reach the water was
jumping off a steep, cliff like a bank.
For a time, we watched as one young woman stood on the
edge, contemplating a jump. Her friends floated in the
water below, encouraging her to follow. She vacillated,
moving to the edge, then backing away. Again and again,
they called her name.
We had to leave, so we don’t know if Chloe ever did jump.
I wondered: did she lack courage, or was she heeding her
better instincts? What a challenge it is at times to discern
which voice to follow. Is it the voice of one that really
doesn’t care about us at all, or is what I’m hearing the voice
of the Shepherd who will protect me, no matter how
daunting the distance from here to there might seem?
Jesus, in the quiet, I listen for your loving voice.

Spiritually Nourishing Our Widows & Widowers St. Joseph is forming a new ministry to widows & widowers, Spiritually Nourishing Our Widows & Widowers—SNOWW. Our
purpose is to meet the spiritual needs of those of the Catholic faith who have lost a spouse to death. Our hope is that this ministry
will help men and women to find new meaning in life as widow/widower, to grow in their relationship with God, to develop a
strong system of support, and to provide opportunities for spiritual service if desired.
Please join us on May 20th 1:00 pm—3:00 pm in the Parish Hall. For more information contact Kim Hovious 348-3126 or
Lee Heaton 460-0154.

MARRIAGE MOMENT
Three steps to apologizing well:
1. I’m sorry.
2. Please forgive me.
3. Try to make amends.
To check yourself, avoid the word “But” when apologiz-
ing. For example, “I’m sorry, but if you had only…”
