Happy New Year! I would like to thank all who helped to make our Christmas celebration so wonderful here at St. Patrick’s. I am grateful to all who served in the various ministries at our masses—the Ministers of Communion, the Lectors, the Servers, the Ushers, our staff and all our musicians and singers.

I thank all of you for your presence and your generosity. Today we celebrate the beautiful Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord. The word “epiphany” comes from the Greek meaning a revelation or manifestation. Today we celebrate that what was revealed to a few on Christmas night, that is Mary, Joseph and the Shepherds, is now revealed to all of God’s children. The three wisemen or kings from the East represent the truth that Jesus Christ has come into the world for the salvation all people. They are guided by the light of a star to discover Christ. Today we are guided by the light of faith to discover Christ and to bring His light into the lives of others. Though we and the world often experience moments of darkness, St. John assures us in his Christmas Gospel that the darkness will never overcome the Light of Christ. The signs of Christmas will soon disappear if they have not already. What we celebrated at Christmas should never be something that we pack away or set aside. Let us together pray that we can carry that Christmas sense of God’s love and the Lord’s presence into each day of 2020!!

In Christ’s light,

Msgr. John T. Ferry, Pastor
