Free drawing class offered this summer to high school students and adults

A free beginners drawing class is being offered this summer for high school students and adults of all ages at Standish-Sterling Central High School.

Classes will be held once a week on Tuesdays, July 9, 16, 23 and 30, from 7-8 pm in the High School Art Room 405.

Anyone can make a compelling drawing by using the ingredients of good design: Line, Balance, Composition, Value, Repetition and Concept, according to Christina Proulx, who will teach the class.

“Drawing is the foundation of the visual arts,” says Proulx, “one that is not a skill for the talented few -- it can be for everyone.”

Anyone interested in this class should contact Proulx at (989) 359-1266 to register and get more information.

‘Drawing is the foundation of the visual arts, one that is not a skill for the talented few -- it can be for everyone.’

Jump Rope for HeartStandish and Sterling Elementary both participated in Jump Rope for Heart this year. Together we raised $1,750.00 to help with the cost of children who need treatment and cannot afford it. During class for the week we tried new ways to jump rope, did jump rope challenges, and had a lot of fun. We also learned about the heart, how it works and how exercise makes a heart strong. Awesome job students! We look forward to help-

ing the American Heart Association again next year!
