DC Fast Charging State-Funded Corridors
+ California Energy Commission has nearly $20 million awarded or soon
to be awarded for DCFC along highway corridors
+ Maryland, Massachusetts, and Oregon have also set up fast charging
corridors
+ Washington is finalizing $1 million grant program
+ Important to keep in mind:
• Leverage private funding with match
• Must support ALL vehicles (different connector types, charging needs)
• Sites should be able to leverage indirect revenue
• Consider impact of demand charges

Nominate an interstate highway for
EV charging corridor designation
+ Under the FAST Act, State or local governments have the ability to
nominate interstate highway corridors as strategic locations for EV
charging needs (or other alternative fueling) and identify aspirational
goals for strategic deployment of fueling infrastructure.
+ No funding but designation comes with signage and could be used to
determine location for future funding opportunities.
+ Nominations are due by August 22

Enabling a Role for Utilities
+ Washington (HB 1853), Oregon (SB 1547), California (SB 350), and
Utah (SB 115) have recently passed legislation allowing utilities the
ability to invest in EV charging infrastructure
+ Principles reflected in these laws:
• Minimize cost and maximize benefits to all ratepayers
• Promote customer choice in EV charging equipment and services
• Support competition
• Increase EV adoption for medium and low income drivers
• Enable grid benefits
