COMPENSATION FOR PROGRAM COORDINATORS, G-GROUP CONVENORS,COORDINATORS OF SUPPORTING STUDIES, CERTAIN SUB-TRACK ANDTOPICAL CONCENTRATION COORDINATORS, DIRECTOR OF WRITING,SUPERVISOR OF MARINE SCIENCE LABORATORY AND COORDINATOR OFINTERNATIONAL EDUCATION.
SUPPLEMENTING ARTICLE XII - FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES - OFTHE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE STATE OF NE~ JERSEY AND NJSFT
AFT/AFL-CIO, DATED: July I, 1986-June 30, 1989.
The college recognizes that Program Coordinators, G-
group convenors, coordinators of supporting study programs,
and certain sub-track and topical concentration coordinators
and the Director of ~-lriting, Supervisor of Marine Science
Laboratory, and the Coordinator of International, Education
(~he "designated faculty members") are performing
administrative and professional duties which qualify them
for additional compensation.
All compensation provided for the designated faculty
members in the 1~tt~E~_!~E~~~~E! shall be in the form of
payments made during the college year in which the services
are primarily performed. For purposes of calculating
payment for fractions of a term, the Program Coordinator's
term of service begins on April 1.
The designated faculty members may apply for released
time as part of specific research and professional

reviewed, and evaluated in accordance with college policies
and procedures applicable to such proposals.

Released time for service as Program Coordinator, G-
group convenor, coordinator of a supporting study, or
certain sub-track and topical concentration coordinators
will not be provided except in the following instance.
Where a program has six or more full-time faculty with
primary program assignments, which for the purpose of this
shall include the Nursing Program, the
coordinator may apply to the Vice President for Academic
Affairs for released time in lieu of additional compensation
provided that the program coordinator will not apply for or
be granted any overload compensation. The Vice President,
--in consultation with the -Division Chairperson,-wil1 review·
the application for released time in light of±'istitutional
needs, priorities, and programmatic considerations. The
vice President for Academic Af fairs will not unreasonably
deny requests for released time.
As identified below of this successor agreement, except
as otherwise specified, designated faculty will be
compensated in accordance with the scale shown for a full
acad em ic ye a r 's se rv ice.

Program Coordinators will be eligible for a maximum of
one course overload during each period of service except for

The ARTS, BSNS and Allied Health Programs are entitled
to recommend for appointment sub-track coordinators who will
be compensated as described below. In each case, the
Program Coordinator will serve as Coordinator on one of the

track coordinator(s) will be compensated according to the

After consultation with the Union and ~rior to the
execution of this ~BE~~~~~!.it is established that
responsibilities of all program coordinators. Director of
Writing. Coordinator of International Education and
Supervisor of Marine Science Laboratory. shall be specified
in their respective scope of responsibilities assignment
letter annually issued by the President. Further. the
College and Union agree to consult on job responsibilities
for designated faculty identified in Section Two of this
~B!~~~~E!early in the Fall. 1987 term. with the results of
such consultation being incorporated into a scope of
responsibilities assignment letter for these faculty.
This ~BE~~~~~! is for the period June 1. 1987 through
June 30. 1989. The College and the Union agree to reopen
discussion on compensation for the designated faculty
members for the 1989-90 academic year on or before February
1. 1989.

"Responsibilities of Program Coordinators",
1. Conduct necessary meetings of the Program faculty, keepa record of its deliberations and communicate as needed
to the supervising divisional Chair.
2. Coordinate Program advising.
3. Coordinate the preparation of the state mandated fiveyearly program self-study, yearly revisions of program
description in the college ~~!!~!i~,and description ofthe Program for Admissions Office. These to be sub
mitted to the supervising Chair of the Division.
4. Coordinate the cooperation between the Program andstudent recruiting (e.g., campus visitations).
5. Provide the supervising divisional Chair with an annualProgram review and evaluation by the end of Springsemester.
6. Certify to the supervising divisional Chair thesuccessful completion of degree Program requirements bygraduating Program students and those students eligibleto receive Program Distinction.
7. Coordinate the scheduling of Program courses.
8. Act as liaison, when appropriate, to other Programswith regard to matters of joint concern, such as
Program requirements, designation of Cognate courses.
9. Assist with the transmittal of information and instructions from the division Chair to members of the
Program.
10. Coordinate the recruitment and hiring of Programfaculty including identification of staffing needs ofthe Program and to make recommendations for appointmentof faculty to the Program, including adjuncts.
COORDINATOR OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
The President, upon the recommendation of the Vice Presidentfor Academic Affairs, appoints a Coordinator of International Education. The Coordinator of International
Education is responsible and accountable to the VicePresident for Academic Affairs for effectively carrying outthe following year round duties.
1. Developing opportunities for study abroad.2. Reviewing and selecting applicants.
3. Negotiating with schools and institutions overseas4. Maintaining the liaisons and continuity with
Stockton.
5. Arranging transportation, visas, medical exams,insurance coverage.
6. Monitoring all financial arrangements.7. Allocating grades and credits.8. Filing annual report with the academic vice
president each April.
SUPERVISOR MARINE SCIENCE LABORATORY
The President, upon the nomination of the Chairper~on forNatural Sciences and Mathematics, and recommendation of the
Vice President for Academic Affairs, as appropriate,appoints a Supervisor of Marine Laboratories. The Supervisor of Marine Laboratories is responsible to the Chairperson of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the VicePresident for Academic Affairs for effectively carryingout the following, year round.
1. Scheduling boats and facilities.2. Supervising a civil service lab technician.3. Supervising student workers.4. Checking the maintenance and repair schedules
of boats and equipment.5. Providing a liaison between faculty, the lab
staff at Stockton and the marine lab.
6. Providing courtesy guide services for visitorsand tours.
7. Determining who may use boats.8. Overseeing 'other functions of the laboratories.

toring the New Jersey Basic Skills Placement Test andplacement of students. designing testing materials forthe following year. evaluating testing materials fromthe previous years. fine-tuning the course adjunctfaculty. designing workshops for the following year,and orienting new faculty members.
