Indian Pellet Manufacturers lift offers Despite Weak Demand

May 13, 2014 19:39 Indian Pellet manufacturers who had been holding offers amid pending Supreme Court's order on Iron ore mining ban in Odisha, have opened their sales with high prices. Trade sources say, "Although Pellet manufacturers have raised offers albeit weak demand, not many Sponge iron producers are keen to procure the material at these price levels". "There is no clarity on Supreme Court's pending order and we have enough inventories of Iron Ore that will last about a month We do not want to stock more as Sponge prices are

on a correction mode and would prefer to wait-and-see," said a Sponge Iron manufacturer based in Eastern India. He also mentioned, "Till now, there has been no restriction on supply of Iron ore from Odisha". On the other hand, Pellet manufacturers remark, "Supreme court order may put an adverse impact on Iron ore mining in Odisha, but is unclear when will the order come out. India: Silico Manganese Prices rise by another INR 1,000/MT May 13, 2014 18:39 Silico Manganese prices continued the upward trend seen over the

last week, as market sources said there was no change to tight supply in the market, supported by resilient demand. The domestic market for Silico Manganese witnessed high demand from end-users. Silico Manganese 60-14 is being offered at INR 58,000 MT (Ex-Raipur). According to sources, Prakash Industries is offering Silico Manganese at INR 57,000/MT Ex-Champa, Chhattisgarh. In Durgapur, Silico Manganese 60-14 is at around INR 57,500/MT. Market sources

reported of strong demand along with shortage of material, for which prices have increased. Tatas branded Silicomag is also not being offered as they are facing governmental issues with regards to mining operation.
