Scene 2) In this next scene it shows a completely different area. From

having a light and golden area to a extremely dark. We see a wide shot of a load of people in dark clothes in a huddle to the left hand side of the shot. There is still no music apart from siren in the distance.

Scene 3) We then keep alternating between these two different scenes and we now see from what we can tell by their costumes are ballet dancers. The lighting makes us think of a nice peaceful place.

Scene 4) We now begin to hear music, it is a low base with a strong beat. The actors begin to bounce along with the music too. We also start to see the title appearing in-between the person in red and the person in black. The area makes us thing of a dark back alley which is very limited for light.

Scene 5) The title is now shown in this scene with a pitch black background and just white writing with ‘STEP UP’ written.

Scene 1) In this opening scene it is quite light and we only see silhouettes of some people. There is no music at this stage of the film and we cannot tell where it is set apart from in a big hall.

STEP UP

Scene 6) Once again we alternate back to the ballet dancers and we see them posing in a dance position. The music is still all bass so it doesn’t work with the ballet. We still do not know where the film is set.

Scene 7) In this scene we now see dark trainers that are dancing to the music. This shows that they involve two different people from ballet dancers to people in trainers. The music hasn’t changed and we still hear the bass.

Scene 8) We see a close up of the ballet dancers feet in this scene. From alternating from both ballet dancers to street dancers, they both are doing the same kind of dancing and using the same moves. However the music does not fit in with the ballet only the street dance.

Scene 9) We now see a long shot a man jumping over another man. This helps us see that they’re athletics and have a lot of stamina. The music hasn’t changed throughout this scene and the bass

is still there. We can see that it might be based in a industrial state or somewhere like that.
