As HERMOSA( 2 ) was being boxed, the muzzle became dislodged, delaying the start slightly. HERMOSA( 2 ) was fractious in the boxes, and began awkwardly, conceding ground at the start. LAURIE’S NORRIS( 8 ) checked SWEEPING FANCY( 7 ) soon after the start. SPECIAL EFFECTS( 3 ) and GOGGINS( 6 ) came together in the run to the first turn, where HERMOSA( 2 ) raced wide. SWEEPING FANCY( 7 ) raced wide running through the catching pen, checking HERMOSA( 2 ) and LAURIE’S NORRIS( 8 ), causing all three runners to lose ground, HERMOSA( 2 ) worst affected. SPECIAL EFFECTS( 3 ) raced wide at the turn in to the back straight, hampering GOGGINS( 6 ).

SLEEK DEFIER( 2 ) was slow to begin. SIMPLY SMUDGE( 5 ) in running to the lead approaching the first turn, checked RED TIGER LADY( 3 ), which lost ground. SLEEK DEFIER( 2 ) galloped on the back of SAUCY SMILE( 8 ) at the first turn, losing ground. In two separate incidents running through the catching pen, SEEN AROUND( 7 ) raced wide checking SAUCY SMILE( 8 ), and LIKELY SUSPECT( 6 ) also raced wide, checking SLEEK DEFIER( 2 ). SAUCY SMILE( 8 ) galloped on the back of SLEEK DEFIER( 2 ) at the turn out of the back straight, causing SAUCY SMILE( 8 ) to lose ground sharply and collide with LIKELY SUSPECT( 6 ), with both runners losing considerable ground. SEEN AROUND( 7 ) was checked off the heels of CLASSY EMGRAND( 4 ) approaching the home turn. LIKELY SUSPECT( 6 ) was vetted with no incapacitation period imposed SAUCY SMILE( 8 ) was vetted and was found to have sustained a spike wound to the near side hind foot.
