- Differences in organisational culture, business experiences, assets and capabilities
- Link internal assets and capabilities with the environment- Key assets (resources) give a firm sustainable competitive
advantage: Financial, Physical, Human, Intangible, Structural-Cultural
- Ideally the resources must be unique
