We spoke with Lokesh Verma, the man behind Devilz Tattooz . He told us that while he was studying for his MBA, he was also doing things that interested him, like DJ’ing at night clubs. As a DJ he saw a number of people with tattoos and was quite fascinated by the art.

Initially, he started tattooing just for fun. He learnt everything about tattooing by himself and tried out the first few tattoos on himself, which turned out quite nice. When his friends saw the tattoos, they wanted them as well. Soon, he started drawing tattoos for his friends.

Over time, his popularity grew to the point that he started charging for each tattoo. In 2005, he established his first studio in Vasant Vihar.

At present, he has two studios, one in Greater Kailash and one in Gurgaon. He heads a team of ten artists who he has trained personally. He is very particular about training them as he wants the quality of work to be just perfect.

Founded by Swikruti Pradhan a NIFT alumna in 2016, this research based studio works with weaver families (some even national award winners) from across Western Orissa.

Having worked across various departments of the fashion industry such as, design, manufacturing and retail, she had the experience and the knowhow, and therefore, decided to launch her own label ‘Rustic Hue.’

There are essentially two key points that set Rustic Hue apart from other labels. One, they undertake research into old textiles and use them to create contemporary women’s clothing. Second, when a garment is made, the scraps of the fabrics are collected, up-cycled and used to create something new and interesting.

They have recently launched a line called ‘Jugad’ , which showcases accessories made out of scrap/ waste fabric. They believe in sustainability, handmade and zero waste.
