Number of Blocks & Finished Size5 Dresden Plate Blocks 14˝ x 14˝

Note: Templates are at the end of the pattern. Applique templates are printed without seam allowance.

PlanningCreate your own enchanted garden combining Dresden Plate Blocks with lovely floral applique. Quilt top is assembled using extra-large setting triangles to make room for applique which is positioned along seams. Erin used the Easy Dresden™ Quilt tool (available at QuiltandSewShop.com) to rotary cut plate wedges. Our photos show you how.

Alternately, you can use Template A at the end of the pattern for wedges. To do so, trace template on template plastic and cut out on outer marked lines. Place plastic template on wrong sides of assorted fabrics, mark along edges, and cut out marked shapes.

Trace Template B onto heat-resistant template plastic and cut out on marked lines. When using Template B to cut yellow dot center circles, add G˝ seam allowance. If you wish to use some of your applique fabrics in the Dresden Plates, as Erin did, include some of these in your assorted prints.

Miss KyraNamed for its lovely recipient, Miss Kyra is an applique-lover’s dream. Step by step photos make Dresden Plates easy.

diagonal rows using light blue dot 25˝ quarter-square triangles and blocks. Sew rows together. Stitch light blue dot 15˝ half-square tri-angles to corners, centering.

7 Referring to Diagram III, fold green 1˝ x 136˝ bias-cut strip in half, wrong sides together. Sew G˝ from fold. Trim seam allowance to J˝. Press tube flat, centering seam allowance on back so raw edges aren’t visible from front. Using G˝ bias bar makes pressing faster and easier. Cut into 32 stems, 4˝ long.
