Villages h Little Village (Blue) K - 2nd Grade

Junior Village (Green) 3rd & 4th Grade

Senior Village (Orange) 5th - 7th Grade

At the Riegel Ridge Community Center we pride ourselves on instilling community values.

Campers will be broken down into villages based on their age. Each village will be

represented by a specific color and title. Campers will learn how to interact with their fellow

villagers as well as how to be a part of a larger community.

E x t e n d e d H o u r s h

We have added mornings to our extended

camp hours. Our doors will open early for

those that need to be dropped off prior to

8:30am. Before camp care will take place from

8:00am to 8:30am. We will continue to provide

after camp care from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

Extra fees will apply for both options.

CAMP COMMUNITY

All campers will have three activity periods each morning. These consist of a visit to arts and crafts,

playing a variety of outdoor sports and games, and recreational swimming. The morning session will

conclude with picnic style lunch; half-day campers will be dismissed at 1pm. The afternoon continues

in a similar fashion for full day campers who will be allowed free choice between outdoor sports and

games, arts and crafts, as well as more recreational swimming. Pick up is scheduled for 4pm.

S p e c i a l E v e n t s

During each of our three sessions, special

events will take place during Fun Fridays.

Guest performances will include a stunt-man,

magician, and a bubble show. A DJ will come

spin some tunes, and the zoo will come to us

when we meet four-legged visitors from Eyes

of the Wild. During the hot summer there will

be two special water events: a blow up water

slide to turn our camp into a mini water park,

as well as a visit from the Holland Twp. Fire

Department for a fire hose cool down!

Specialty Lessons These lessons are held during the regular camp, but offer your child the

opportunity to have an in-depth exploration of Swimming or Cheernastics. These lessons will

be offered during each session for every age group. Cheernastics is only open to Full Day

campers. Class spaces are limited and extra fees will apply.

S w i m m i n g L e s s o n s

Lessons will be taught at the Riegel Ridge Community Pool. Your children will learn from the same lifeguards who watch over them during recreational swim! These lessons will be fun and non-pressure while students are surrounded by fellow campers. Classes will be divided by age as well as ability. All swim teachers are certified in the Red Cross Water Safety Instructor program. The WSI program teaches lessons for all swim levels. Students will learn appropriate safety and stroke skills that pertain to their specific level. We feel that level numbers are not an indication of a child’s success in swimming. These numbers cater to a child’s needs by placing focus on the appropriate skill set for their age and ability. The benefits of swim lessons for children are endless; but most importantly they provide your child the knowledge of how to handle a water emergency. Each session includes nine classes which are 30 minutes in length. Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week.

Price: $75

per child

RRCC’s very own cheerleading gymnastics program will now be offered during summer recreation! These classes will teach children how to safely and correctly perform beginner to advanced cheerleading gymnastics while simultaneously building strength and flexibility. Our program strives to provide those who are interested or already involved in cheerleading the confidence to perform these gymnastics. Potential skills children will learn (contingent upon specific grade level): forward and backward rolls, bridges, cartwheels, round -offs, handstands, bridge kick-overs, back-walk overs, multiple handstands, and back handsprings. Class will also include cheerleading motions and stunts. At the end of each session children will have the opportunity to perform a routine for their peers to showcase their hard work! Lessons will take place twice a week for an hour. Children must have a set of clean sneakers (separate from the ones worn to camp). Attire for this class is comfortable clothing: t -shirts, secured tanks-tops, gym shorts, etc. We require students to have their hair pulled back and all glasses secured by a holding strap. Children are not permitted to wear jewelry during this class. Classes will take place inside the air conditioned gymnasium.

Price: $75

per child

Zumbatomic® classes are fun, high-energy fitness parties that offer real results. These classes are packed with specially choreographed dance fitness routines and Zumbatomic® music is 100% kid-friendly with songs, dances, and actions that promote the overall theme of a healthy lifestyle. In the Zumbatomic® program, kids will learn dances to the following Latin rhythms: Cumbia, Reggaeton, Salsa, Hip Hop, and Merengue, with the goal of incorporating fitness as a natural part of children’s lives. These classes will increase student’s focus and self -confidence while boosting their metabolism and improving coordination. Children will learn these moves in a non-judgmental environment! These lessons promote fun as well as appropriate fitness options for children. The movements are basic and designed so all class participants will be able to follow them! We will be holding four information sessions at RRCC for summer rec. parents, guardians or

families. It is mandatory to attend at least one of the four offered meetings. They will be held

on Friday April 9th at 7pm, Wednesday May 22nd at 7pm, and Saturday June 8th at 10am or

3pm. These meetings will provide an in-depth explanation regarding camp activities, specialty

camps, medical forms, field trips, rules, and policies. At these meetings you will receive your

parent information handbook and be given time to complete your child's mandatory medical/

emergency forms. Field trip registration will take place at these meetings; trips have limited

spots and are available on a first come first served basis. Time will be allotted for the Camp

Supervisor and Director of Parks & Recreation to answer any of your questions.

however, camp fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. We will not hold spots

without payment. Refunds may only be offered for serious medical reasons at the discretion of

our Director. Registrations received within 5 days of a Session’s starting date will be charged a

$35 late fee. All electives and specialty lesson sign ups are on a first come first served basis. We

do not offer payment plans; for those who may have special circumstances please contact

Jessica Neglia at [email protected]

P r e sc ho o l C a m p Our pre-school program offers a nurturing environment where children have the opportunity to grow

independently, socialize through play, and interact with their peers in a group setting. During the half day

program, children will be exposed to story-time, crafts, large motor games both outdoors, and in, as well as time

to cool off in the baby pool. Time will also be given for them to enjoy their snack and lunch. This group has the

unique opportunity to participate in community center programs such as Toddler Gym Time,

weekly camp activities, and special field trips. All children must be completely toilet trained.
