SummerSummitWorkshopFacilitatorJobDescriptionSummerSummitJuly11-16,2016 Thisisa6-day/5-nightsummerresidentialprogramfor10-12thgradehighschoolstudentswithintheSanDiegoRegion.Highschoolstudentsarepartneredupwithacurrentundergraduatewhowillserveastheirresidentialadvisorduringthedurationoftheprogramandaresourceadvisor forthefollowingschoolyear.Thisprogramprovideshighschoolstudentswiththeopportunitytoexperienceresidentiallifeonacollegecampuswhilebuildinguptheirinterpersonalandleadershipskills,gaininformationandresourcesabout4-yearuniversityadmission,andanopportunitytodevelopandstrengthentheircriticalthinkingskills.SummerSummitWorkshopFacilitatorOverviewTheprimaryroleofSummerSummitWorkshopFacilitatorsistofosterthedevelopmentandlearningofthehighschoolstudents inavarietyofsubjectareas.Someof thesubjectareas include:pathways topostsecondaryeducation,universityresources,identitydevelopment,studentempowerment,andsocialjustice.WorkshopFacilitatorsareresponsiblefordesigningandleadingworkshops,whichwillbecarriedouteachdayoftheSummerSummitprogram.EachWorkshopFacilitatorwillberesponsibleforleadingdiscussionsandactivitiesfor10-16students.Classification:Student3/4920Compensation:$10.60perhourStartDate:May10,2016EndDate:July18,2016JobDescription:
• Serveasapositiverolemodelinpersonallanguage,appearance,andmanner;• Serve on the planning committee of the program and assist with the development and
coordinationofworkshops;• Leadworkshopsforprogramparticipantsbetweenthehoursof8amand4pmduringJuly11-16,
2016.• Facilitate activities and discussions for 10-16 participants to promote active learning and
engagementwiththeprogram;• ResideinEleanorRooseveltCollegefromJuly11–July16th;• Planandimplementworkshopsrelatedto4yearacademicplanning,financialaid,postsecondary
education institutions, and entrance requirements for the California public/higher educationsystem;
• Organizeandfacilitateactivitiesanddiscussionsinrelationtodiversityandsocialjusticeissuesincluding but not limited to: race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious, and classbackground;
• Collaborate with on-campus departments and off-campus departments, which include theCampusCommunityCenters,OfficeofAdmissionandRelationwithSchools,FinancialAidOffice,

• UndocumentedStudentServicesCenter,CenterforStudentInvolvement,CareerServicesCenter,andCommunityCenters,toprovideresourcestoprogramparticipants;
• Assist the Summer Summit Coordinatorswith set-up, registration, evaluation, and all generalaspectsoftheprogram;
• Organizeandassembleprogrammaterials;• Assist the Summer Summit Coordinators and Professional Staff in maintaining and enforcing
programrulesandUCSDpoliciesandprocedures.Qualifications:
• UnderstandthemissionandaspirationofSPACESandthoseaffiliatedwithit;• Strongpassionandcommitmentforeducationalequity;• Demonstratedunderstandingofthe importanceofoutreachandretention inrelationtoequal
accesstoeducation,diversity,andcultural/socioeconomicstruggleandoppression;• Demonstratedabilitytofacilitatediscussionsandgroupactivitiesinrelationtodiversityandsocial
