From the Pastor “My heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.” Romans 10:1Mes chers amis, As you’ve probably heard from the Bishop’s most recent Priestly assignments, Fr. Harrington has received a new assignment as the Parochial Vicar of St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Abbeville, effective July 1. We at Sacred Heart and St. Joseph Parishes will receive as our new Parochial Vicar, Fr. Matthew Barzare, a native of Eunice. Please pray for Fr. Harrington and Fr. Barzare and all Priests and Parishes who will be affected by these changes of assignments. On this feast of Pentecost, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit that Our Lord Jesus promised to send upon His Church. Ascended into Heaven and seated at the right hand of His Father, Jesus fulfilled His promise. The Holy Spirit came with great power upon the Apostles gathered around Our Lady in the Upper Room. From that day on, the Church continues the saving mission of her Lord Jesus, filled with the power of the Hoy Spirit. We ourselves need the gifts of the Holy Spirit to follow Christ in holiness of life. How do we know that that Holy Spirit is active in our lives? St. Paul tells us that we can see these fruits present if He is: The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) Today, we pray: Come, Holy Spirit, come by means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, your well beloved spouse! Dans le Sacré Cœur du Christ, Fr. Vidrine
