2011 is going to be an exciting year for Jr. and Sr. High students with new events like the Winter Retreat, ski day trip, and “Revolve” young women's conference.
On January 23rd, we will resume our Sunday night meetings, continuing with what has been our greatest evening program as of late. We'll gather for a mix of contemplative prayer exercises, small group open discussions, game nights and off campus events as we grow as a group and, most importantly, in our understanding of and relationship with God. We're looking forward to new social events and service opportunities and hope you'll join the family and fellowship of young disciples at Chaparral.
Converge Winter retreat, January 14th-16th
Sunday Evening Meetings resume, January 23rd
Ski Day Trip to AZ SnowBowl, January 29th, weather permitting
Keepers of the Faith Club is a group for boys and girls of all ages to join! Our goal is to train children in the ways of Christ while learning practical skills and building character. Our Keepers Club is currently working on badges for Biblical Honesty, Love and Storytelling. For more information, please contact Bobby Maguire at [email protected].
MOM (Morning Out for Mom) has a NEW day!1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, 9:15-11:45 a.m. We meet at different places but always have fun! Childcare provided in the Toddler Room free of charge. RSVP to [email protected] for childcare.
Give of your time to our kids!Providing stellar classes for our kids begins with great volunteers! If you have a heart for children, we can use you! Work with great teachers to learn how the Children’s Ministry works and to see where you might fit in. Start as a helper and greet kids and parents and assist with class activities. Contact Stacy today. Make it your New Year’s Resolution to serve those Jesus tells us to be like!

New Members Class
A two-week new member class will be held on January 16th & 23rd from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room These classes will be taught by our senior minister, Frank Shirvinski. This is a great way for newer people to learn more about our Church and its ministries, not to mention how to get involved, what we believe, and the history of our Church. It will also be an opportunity to meet the ministry team!
The class will conclude with a casual dinner on January 28th in the Commons from 6:00 to 7:30. We would love to spend some time with you to get to know you better! Sign up online today!
Women's Retreat 2011 February 18-20Calm...Peacefulness...Quiet Retreat with us for a reflective time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life that will be centered around friendship and relaxation. Join us at The Living Water Retreat Center situated along beautiful Oak Creek. Contact Sharon Alger for more information. Cost will be around $130. Payment plans are encouraged. Plan now to attend.
Opportunity to ServeJoin us for Season of Service, Saturday, January 15,as we come together as a Christian community to
help the City of Scottsdale and assist our neighbors in need. We will join with other churches
to trim, weed, clear out and repair properties. Those with skills and those just wanting to help
out are very welcome. Sign up online or contact Sara Perrine.
Volunteer OpportunitiesChaparral is looking for volunteers who would be willing to assist those in our congregation who are in need of a helping hand (running an errand/providing rides to an appointment). If you are able and interested in assisting, please contact Sara Perrine.
Plato's ManCave...Our idea is simple: Provide a place for guys to unwind (or pump up) that strengthens them in ways that we can see - body and attitude - and ways that we cannot see - faith, spirit, and soul. Our events include sport shooting, College Bowl gatherings, last-minute movie outings, camping, and more.
If you're interested in being on the Plato's ManCave email list, email [email protected] to sign up. You'll get all the info on our planned events, as well as our last-minute, spur-of-the-moment stuff, too. This is the place where secular and spiritual are combined.
*WARNING: Highly addictive and contagiously fun.

• We would like to get to know you! Each pew has a Welcome Book in which you can let us know prayer requests, sign up for events and update your information. Please pass the Welcome Book down the row so we can hear from everyone!
• Communion/Lord’s Supper All followers of Christ are welcome to participate in our Service of Communion. If you have prepared yourself for this very special moment with our Savior, you are invited to his table. (1 Corinthians 11:23-30)
• Offering In our first two services, a special time for giving is set aside. Participation is an act of worship and voluntary. During our third service there will not be a time specific for offering but rather boxes are placed at the entry to allow for giving as you are led.
• Nursery We have a friendly, well-staffed and impeccably clean nursery located on the north side of the narthex. Please see an usher for directions.
Several of our “regularly scheduled” weekly programs will have a special holiday schedule. Please check with the leader of the class for any changes.
We hope your worship experience with us will be meaningful. To help you feel a bit more comfortable with our campus and morning programs, we have included a few recommendations. We are glad you are here today!
