ECC Gather 2018. As you know were three very important ECC leadership
positions to be filled, President of the ECC John Wenrich, Executive Minister
of Develop Leaders and Ordered Ministry Lance Davis and President of North
Park University Mary Surridge. Hope Covenant had three delegates at the
sessions, Barb Scheevel, Beth Krueger and Glenn Scuteri, who are
Leadership Team members and represented our church in voting. A report
will be given on a Sunday morning TBD. These new leaders were excited to
take the Covenant further in ministry and expressed their full support of ECC
heritage and values as expressed by the Covenant’s delegates. Pastor Keith
Meyer was at Gather 2018 and got to know a parking lot very well having
forgotten where he parked his car. Rachel Lassen viewed live streaming and
attended the Saturday night ordination service where Solid Rock’s Tyler
Menssen was ordained. It was moving to thank President Gary Walters and
Executive Minister Dick Luco for their service as they left their positions this
year. God is moving in the ECC!!! Please pray for these new leaders.

KKaatthhyy’’ss LLiibbrraarryy NNootteess The Shiralee dvd Based on D’Arcy Niland’s novel, The Shiralee is set in the gorgeous, grassy Australian bush, this saga centers around rugged individualist, Mac Macauley, and his good-natured nine-year old daughter, Buster. Early in this miniseries, which is set in the 1940s, Macauley is on a walkabout searching for work when he happens upon a family who adopts him as their own. Here, his employer’s daughter, Lily, develops a deep bond with Macauley that lasts throughout the film, even as Macauley leaves town to begin a new life with an unsavory wife during his stint as a carousing, stubborn boxer. Mid-story, Macauley and his new daughter are relative strangers, and the thrust of The Shiralee begins when he is forced to leave his home to start new wanderings with his "burden" ("shiralee" is an Aboriginal term meaning "burden") Buster. Though Macauley does have the occasional friend, he mostly goes it alone, with his daughter by his side, much to the disagreement of some who feel she needs security. When the latter half of the story sets in, Macauley is faced with poverty and a severely ill daughter. Here, his old friend, Marge, a mother figure, steps in, and the father-daughter bond is strengthened to new heights. Each of the dramas in Macauley’s life builds incrementally to describe the hardship he endures and his commitment to his small family. Brennan dvd Based on the life of the author, former Marine, one-time Franciscan priest, and unconventional vagabond evangelist Brennan Manning who tirelessly preached the unfailing love and amazing grace of Jesus Christ for all while struggling mightily with his own human failings. As a storm approaches the gulf coast, an alcoholic ex-priest Brennan Manning must rely on hitching a ride with a troubled ragamuffin to get home to New Orleans to save his marriage before it's too late. It becomes one long and unforgettable road trip for both of them.
