MASS SCHEDULE & INTENTIONS - March 6-14, 2021
3
, March 10 th, from 6:00-9:00 PM at St. Gabriel Church for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Last year, during Lent
was not able to promote this semi-annual opportunity for reconciliation due to the pandemic. This year, continuing to observe all sanitary and social distancing
outside the normally scheduled times is able to be given. Remember, confessions
at Our Lady of Hope are always held every Wednesday at 6:15-6:45 PM (prior to 7:00 PM Mass) at Nativity Church, and on Saturdays from 11:00 AM-Noon at St. Valentine and St. Gabriel Churches.
We have recently received the Diocesan guidelines for the cele-bration of Holy Week. This year we will be able to distribute palms on Palm Sunday! Services during the Easter Triduum will be held with some modifications, i.e., there is no washing of the feet during the liturgy on Holy Thursday, and the cross may be
finalizing our schedule for the Easter Triduum and will have it available for publication in next weekend’s bulletin. Palm Sunday Masses will be held at the current Sunday Mass times.
As we announced last week, Bishop David Zubik will be at St. Germaine Church for Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 26th at 7:00 PM.
Please note a change to office hours at the Administrative Offices at Germaine Church. Beginning this week, the new Friday hours will be 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.
Our two parish take-out Fish Fries are going well - thanks to all of the workers and organizers who have made it possible!
Gratefully in Christ,

LIVE JESUS
Inspiration for the week
With our world in such constant turmoil and conflict, it makes such good sense to return to the simple directives given in the Ten Commandments. God’s unassuming guidelines provide the perfect recipe for ordering our relationships with God, others and even ourselves. Yet, we are so quick to glance beyond them and even remove them from public view because we foolishly believe we can create something better. Arrogance runs far deeper in the members of our society than we can ever imagine.
Lent is a perfect time to call ourselves back to our foundations and the basic relationships that comprise our lives. It is also a time to remember Jesus is the true sign of God’s presence. Everything He says and does, including His suffering and death, is a sign of the God who sent Him. The anger we witness when Jesus exhorts those in the temple to stop making His Father’s house a marketplace can equally be seen in His anger and frustration over humanity’s constant mission to turn God’s creation into a secular world. We have a lot of work to do for sure.

Knowing Jesus Through The Luminous Mysteries
Pope St. John Paul II did just that with his Apostolic Letter, Rosarium Virginis Mariae, on October 16, 2002.
life and teachings, beginning with His Baptism in the Jordan, and culminating with His Institution of the Holy Eucharist on the eve of His Passion, Death and Resurrection. St. John Paul II (with his emphasis), “Each of these mysteries is a revelation of the Kingdom now present in the very person of Jesus.”
Luminous Mysteries (prayed Thursdays)
1. Baptism of Jesus After Jesus was baptized, the heavens were opened (for Him), and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove (and) coming upon Him. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Fruit of this mystery: Openness to the Holy Spirit
2. Wedding at Cana His mother said to the servers, “Do whatever He tells you.” Jesus told them, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim. Fruit of this mystery: To Jesus through Mary
3. Proclaiming the Kingdom “As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” Fruit of this mystery: Repentance and Trust in God
4. Transfiguration While He was praying His face changed in appearance and His clothing became dazzling white. for Holiness
5. Institution of the Eucharist Then He took bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, which will be given for you” And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood.” Fruit of this mystery: Adoration
From the book by Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC - 33 Days to Morning Glory
There are always more wonders to discover. There are always more riches to mine! There are infinite, inexhaustible treasures contained in each one of the mysteries of the life of Christ.

SERVICE TO OTHERS
Over the past two weeks, 111 second graders from our parish received the Sacra-ment of Reconciliation. This sacrament is one of the most beautiful aspects of our Catholic faith. Not only does it wash us clean and renew us in Christ, but it helps us to understand that just as God freely forgives us our transgressions, we too should be willing to give and receive forgiveness.
There are bulletin boards in each of the four churches with the names of the children who will now begin their preparation for First Holy Communion. Please stop and write down a name or two and pray for them during the season of Lent. The children will receive the Eucharist for the first time during Vigil or Sunday
Masses during the Easter season.
If you would like to write a note of encouragement for a child, some children or all of the children, please send it to: Carol Vater
Our Lady of Hope Faith Formation Office 2709 Mesta Street
Bethel Park, PA 15102 or
email to [email protected]
We will make sure the children receive your message of encouragement and love.
With assistance from parishioners, our Confirmation classes donated over 690 snacks bags for the Red Door Ministry. Because this is such a worthwhile project we would like to continue it through all of Lent.
fruit cups ($1.59 at Aldi/$2.00 at Giant Eagle or Shop’n Save) can be left at the administrative office at St. Germaine. There is a table right inside the entrance at St. Germaine where you can drop your donations, or you may deliver donations to the Faith Formation Office located in the lower level of St. Valentine School.
If you don’t want to make the trip to the grocery store or the offices, you can mail a check, payable to Our Lady of Hope Faith Formation and we will do the shopping for you. Please write “Red Door” on the memo line of your check, and mail it to the Faith Formation Office; 2709 Mesta Street; Bethel Park, PA 15102.
