Was their marriage just an arrangement, a deal? Did his wife, after all these years, ever love him? Does she still? We need to know if our loving commitments stick. We need to be reminded and reafϐirmed. In the ϐirst reading, Joshua, Moses’ successor, needed to know if the people would remain faithful to their covenant with the Lord. Joshua was going to lead them to a new life—a settled life. Would they be faithful? Jesus, who identiϐied himself as the very life of his disciples’ life, needed to know: Will you also go away or will you stay? We do not often see Jesus this vulnerable. Peter and the apostles chose to stay. What will we do?

A True Act of Christian Kindness Needed

The school is accepting a new family, for the 2015-16 academic year, with a very unique and confidential situation. The children NEED to be in our caring, safe, nurturing, loving, comforting, Christian environment, and I am asking for your help. To quote the school’s Mission Statement: “Saint Bridget School partners with families and our church to develop the whole person within a community of faith.” If you are able to help in any way, please send your tax-deductible donation for the family via the St. Bridget Help-A-Student Fund to the attention of Mrs. Sebastian in the tuition office at the rectory. Tuition is approximately $5,000.00 per student and they have more than one child. With God’s Choicest Blessings for this family, Msgr. Strahan

When does it stop being partly cloudy and start being partly sunny?

If God sneezes, what should you say?

Why does quicksand work slowly?

Why do people say head’s up when you are supposed to duck? Doesn’t a lightning rod on top of church show a lack of faith?

Msgr.Strahan

First Reading — Moses directs the people to observe the commandments of the Lord (Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-8). Psalm — The one who does justice will live in the presence of the Lord (Psalm 15). Second Reading — Welcome the word that you have received and become doers of the word, not hearers only (James 1:17-18, 21b-22, 27). Gospel — You disregard God’s commandment but cling to human tradition (Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23).

Confessions are heard this Saturday from 2-3 PM. This week confessions will be heard by Msgr. Strahan.

If there is a change due to bad weather parents will be notified. Participants should park in the Rectory parking lot and enter the door on that level. *Dates for baptism are set once the class has been attended and all paperwork is received and complete. Baptisms take place once a month on a Sunday at 2pm. To register for class or to ask a question call 508-875-6009.

Sacrament of Marriage Arrangements should be made with one of the priests at least one year prior to the intended date of marriage so that all requirements can be completed. Please Note: Saturday weddings can be celebrated from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the latest. Sunday weddings can be celebrated from 1:30pm to 4:00pm at the latest.

Pastoral Ministry

Visitations to the sick and the homebound are made by Pastoral Visitors who bring the Blessed Sacrament and offer spiritual befriending on a weekly basis. If a member of your family, or friend, or neighbor is in the hospital or is home-bound, we would appreciate hearing from you. Kindly call the Pastoral Ministry Office at 508-875-6009 to request assistance.
