FLO Components Ltd. Announced its new part-nership with RPM Indus-tries LLC to sell and install their complete product line of centralized fleet fluid maintenance sys-tems, effective as of May 1, 2016. With the RPM Industries product line, FLO Components Ltd. has a complete range of en-gine pre-lubrication and fluid evacuation technolo-gies that automate routine maintenance of heavy equipment to save own-ers and dealers time and money.

“Routine maintenance has become anything but routine”, said Mike Deckert, Vice-President of FLO Components. “Keeping your fleet in peak operating condition can be difficult and time consuming. Machines sit idle for hours dur-ing ‘simple’ oil changes. Technicians risk injury removing hot oil filters and climbing under or around the machines.

There is also the prob-lem of oil spills causing environmental contami-nation. The QuickFit system offers a simple solution for all of that.”

The heart of the new product line is the Quick-Fit system, according to FLO’s Marketing Special-ist, Gabriel Lopez. “In spite of all the technologi-cal advancements over the years, people are still doing oil changes on their equipment the way they did back in the 1950’s. RPM Industries’ patented QuickFit system is a sim-ple and effective way to change oil, transmission and hydraulic fluids from a single, ground-level connection, without tak-ing too much time, risk-ing unnecessary injury or environmental fines. The QuickFit system incorpo-rates the PERTTM pro-cess to: 1) Purge the fil-ters with compressed air so that old filters can be removed and clean filters can be installed cleanly

and safely with no spills or burns; 2) Evacuate the sump directly to the final waste container; 3) Refill the engine via its new fil-ters and 4) Timestamp the service to automatically document the mainte-nance event.”

“At FLO Components, we provide turnkey solu-tions to take away our cus-tomers’ pain. The RPM Industries line of central-ized fleet fluid mainte-nance systems further en-hances FLO Components’ ability to help customers protect their equipment and employees while im-proving productivity”, added Deckert. “With just one fitting per compart-ment, the QuickFit system allows you to service most machines in less than 30 minutes. It makes fluid maintenance cleaner, saf-er and faster for all makes and models. Because the process is repeatable, it’s easier for you to sched-ule and plan routine PM services. Maintenance becomes easier, your pro-ductivity goes up and the risk of spills and contami-nation is virtually elimi-nated.” b

sive and we will be launch-ing our NEW 674 inclined screen at Hillhead. This small to mid-size inclined screen has been specifically developed to appeal to the contract crusher and small scale owner-operator look-ing to produce four speci-fication products from the one platform.

The 674 inclined screen has been developed to en-ter new space in the mobile screening market. We’re excited by the buzz and interest that has been ex-pressed in this new model and expect it to be a real star of the show.

From our 8-Series range of we will be showcasing our biggest volume ma-chine, the 883+ heavy duty screener and our re-cently introduced 873 Spal-eck recycling screener. ‘Crusher Alley’ demonstration

Terex Finlay is ‘unleash-ing the beasts’ in the main working area in the form of the J-1480 jaw crusher and recently launched C-1554 cone crusher. These two heavyweights are sure to be show stoppers during the live working demon-strations with the tonnage of material that they will

put on the ground. These large capacity workhorses have consistently been producing up to 800 tph and will be demonstrated showing the production ca-pacity during the show.

Terex Finlay will also be previewing the new I-140RS impact crusher in the main working area in advance of its launch in Q3, 2016. This exciting new machine features an onboard detachable sizing screen and recirculation conveyor for producing a spec’d product. For appli-cations not requiring utili-zation of the recirculation system the conveyor can be slewed into position and used as a stockpile convey-or. Used in this configura-tion the machine can pro-duce three products from one platform. Recycling areas demonstration

In the recycling work-ing areas Terex Finlay will be exhibiting the J-1170AS jaw crusher and new 873 Spaleck heavy duty recy-cling screener. We pre-viewed the J-1170AS at Hillhead 2014 and put the machine went into serial production in early 2015. This highly adaptable ma-chine has been well re-

ceived by contact crushers and owner operators as it provides the flexibility of a crushing and screening plant on one platform for use in mining and recycling applications. The detach-able on-board sizing screen can be quickly removed al-

lowing the operator to use the machine as a standard unit depending on the ap-plication.

The 873 Spaleck recy-cling screen is the latest model to be developed in partnership with Spalck GmbH. Launched in late

2015 this machine has gained positive traction in the global market, par-ticularly in those markets where machine movement from site to site is compli-cated. The machine still provides impressive mate-rial processing capabilities

in aggregates, sand and gravel, construction de-molition and recycling ap-plications but from a more compact transport enve-lope to the existent 883+ model.

Terex Finlay will also be demonstrating their T-Link telematics remote monitor-ing and fleet management system on in their booth.

Trained personnel will be on hand through the du-

ration of the show to dem-onstrate to visitors how the T-LINK system can help them stay connected with and keep track of their equipment, monitor work progress, manage logistics, access critical machine in-formation, analyze and optimize machine perfor-mance and perform remote operator support.

These demonstrations will take place in the Terex Finlay hospitality booth and will focus on the ma-chines that are actually working at the show.

“We have seen the power of ‘listening to our customers’ and what a culture of positive leader-ship and working together can accomplish. All of us at Terex Finlay are com-mitted to delivering even more of the great products and innovations that will deliver growth and define our company going for-ward.” Commented Paul O’Donnell, Terex Finlay Global Business Line Direc-tor. b

Rototilt introduces a line of hydraulic compac-tors that are ideally suited to work with Rototilt for the ultimate in compact-ing flexibility. Mounted on a Rototilt, the operator can work efficiently on flat, sloped, or uneven surfaces and compact easily around obstacles or in tight areas.

Designed to perform with low flow requirements these compactors can oper-ate on the standard Rototilt “extra function”, eliminat-ing the need for a separate auxiliary hydraulic circuit. They can also handle high back pressure and are therefore suited to operate on almost any standard

auxiliary hydraulic circuit.Other features include

rubber isolation mounts in compression versus shears for longer life and all mod-els are available with a variety of upper mount ar-rangements to suit any Ro-totilt quick coupler or can be attached directly to the excavator or backhoe.

Available in 3 models covering excavators from 3 to 30 tonne, Rototilt now makes compacting safer, quicker, and easier. b

For over 30 years Brook-field Gardens has been providing healthy food to Atlantic Canadians. One of the largest vegetable farms on Prince Edward Island, the family-owned company grows a wide variety of es-tablished and emerging mar-ket crops.

The Honourable Wayne Easter, Member of Parlia-ment for Malpeque, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minis-ter of Innovation, Science and Economic Develop-ment and Minister respon-sible for the Atlantic Can-ada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and the Honour-able Alan McIsaac, PEI Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries today announced government assistance to support increased efficien-cy and safety measures for the prominent Island farm-ing operation. The Govern-ment of Canada, though ACOA’s Business Develop-ment Program, is providing a $95,000 repayable contri-bution. The Government of

Prince Edward Island and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada is contributing $30,000 through its Grow-ing Forward 2 Research and Innovation Program.

The assistance will go toward the purchase of new cooling equipment which significantly short-ens the cooling process for freshly harvested, perish-able crops. This innovative technology will improve the shelf-life of goods, help vegetables to reach con-sumers quicker, open new export market potential, and allow Brookfield Gar-dens to try new crops.Quotes

“Brookfield Gardens is well-respected in the PEI agricultural community, and their diverse range of produce is familiar to peo-ple across the region. The Government of Canada is pleased to help this family farming business increase efficiencies and explore new markets.” — The Honour-able Wayne Easter, Member of Parliament for Malpeque,

on behalf of The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister Responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportuni-ties Agency (ACOA).

“Prince Edward Island’s Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is a proud partner in the Growing For-ward 2 Research and Inno-vation Program. This pro-gram is helping our primary industries be more competi-tive and innovative. On be-half of the province, I want to congratulate Brookfield Gardens on their continued efforts to grow an efficient, client-focused Island busi-ness.” — The Honourable Alan McIsaac, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to bring new technology to our plant for removing field heat from our produce. This will certainly extend shelf life of these vegetables and will help to reduce our waste. We ap-preciate the assistance from both Atlantic Canada Op-portunities Agency and the Government of PEI for part-nering with us on this proj-ect.” — Eddy Dykerman, Brookfield Gardens b

Two New Models Bring Extra Capacity to Gehl’s Articulated Loader Line-up• Gehl 650 and 750 Articu-

lated Loaders offer some of the highest breakout forces in their respective classes

• Articulation angles up to 45 degrees bring ideal manoeuvrability to the job

FeaturesAnswering the market

demand for larger wheel loaders, Gehl developed the 650 and 750 Articu-lated Loaders for the North American market. The Gehl 650 and 750 Articu-lated Loaders represent an expansion into the 60-80 horsepower size class, with larger engines and higher horsepower than the com-petition. Both models have Tier IV-certified engine emissions technology, with a Yanmar 64.4 hp (48 kW) engine on the 650 and a Deutz 74.3 hp (55 kW) en-gine powering the 750. The Yanmar engine uses a die-sel particulate filter after-treating system, while the Deutz uses a diesel oxida-tion catalyst after treatment system, which allows users to choose their preferred emissions system.

The 650 and 750 are additions to the Gehl fam-ily of articulated loaders, weighing in at 4-5 metric tons. They are the larg-est wheel loaders in the Gehl product offering and

include standard conve-nience features such as a digital instrumentation display, Power-A-Tach At-tachment Mounting System and a multi-function joy-stick. Digging and scraping performance is maximized through some of the high-est breakout forces in their respective classes and front and rear locking differen-tials.

A heavy-duty, oscillat-ing articulation joint offers 45-degree turning angles to the left and right and 10 degrees of oscillation in both directions for optimal traction and manoeuvrabil-ity. The bucket and tires follow a constant turning radius, so the rear tires of the loader follow the path of the front tires. Narrow machine widths allow ac-cess to tight, confined spaces that most skid steer loaders with comparable operating capacities can-not access. The “Z” bar-type linkage allows for mechanical self-levelling action in both the up and down directions, excellent bucket dump angles at the mid- and top-ranges of the lift path, mechanical return to dig, as well as outstand-ing forward reach.

Proportional auxiliary hydraulics is standard equipment and is utilized with a roller switch on the joystick. Detent and pres-sure relief are included to optimize attachment

hook-up and performance. Two easily accessible aux-iliary hydraulic lines with flat-face couplers power a variety of tools and make attachment changes easy. Additionally, the 650 and 750 are available with an industry leading three aux-iliary circuit option to the front and rear, including high-flow.

An open canopy ROPS is standard and a com-plete cab enclosure option is available, providing en-hanced comfort and safety for all-day-long operations. Excellent 360-degree vis-ibility is achieved by posi-tioning the operator above the load for safe opera-tion and excellent view of the attachment. A multi-function joystick controls the lift arm, bucket, float, travel direction, differential lock and auxiliary hydrau-lic functions. An inching pedal allows operators to vary ground speed while maintaining a fixed engine speed to optimally run at-tachments while enabling precise machine speed control.

Optional features in-clude, but are not limited to; a Bluetooth “hands free” capable radio, air suspension seat, LED work lights, rotating bea-con, high-flow auxiliary hydraulics, rear hydraulic hook-up, rear mount and clevis, HydraglideTM Ride Control, and 3-speed trans-mission with speeds up 19 mph (30 kph).Applications

“As North America’s largest manufacturer of compact wheel loaders, Gehl customers benefit from the convenience of a local manufacturer,” says Nathan Ryan, Prod-uct Manager for Gehl Ar-ticulated Loaders. “Gehl offers more auxiliary hydraulics options, cab configurations and trans-mission options than any competitor in this class. Hydraulically-reversing

cooling fan, disk brakes, steel hydraulic tubing and robust heavy duty fend-ers are just a few of stan-dard features we include to withstand the harsh operating environments that our customers are in every day.”

“Beyond the mere size increase, operators will notice many ergonomic enhancements,” states Ryan. We’ve completely redesigned this cab to allow for improved vis-ibility, low effort pilot controls, a pedal-free flat

floor and additional steer-ing and seat adjustments. Taking advantage of the additional horsepower to add new features like Hi-Flow and High-Speed, while staying true to our customers favourite fea-tures from our smaller

wheel loaders, like lift and tilt float functions, we are truly proud to introduce the Gehl 650 and 750 as the future generation of Gehl Articulating Load-ers.” b

Built in the world-class John Deere Dubuque

Works, Iowa, manufac-turing facility, the 710L joins the popular L-Series lineup of backhoe load-ers. The latest model of-fers a robust 17-foot 3-inch dig depth, the largest in the John Deere portfolio, and it is ideal for load-ing trucks, placing pipe, digging trenches, break-ing up concrete or asphalt and moving materials. The 710L backhoe meets to-day’s emission regulations through an EPA Final Tier 4/EU Stage IV-certified 4.5L Deere PowerTech Plus en-gine, providing 13 percent more net peak horsepower (148 hp/110 kW) than the previous K-Series model.

“Customers need an advantage to meet proj-ect deadlines and deliver results, and the backhoe is one of the most well-regarded and resourceful pieces of equipment on the job site,” said Brian Hen-nings, product marketing manager, backhoes and tractor loaders, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “The 710L provides a huge leg up with added lift capa-bility and an improved rear control valve for enhanced controllability as well as

productivity-boosting fea-tures and unmatched reli-ability and uptime.”

Other hallmarks of the 710L include a standard John Deere PowerShift transmission that enables operators to travel up to 23 mph (37 km/h) be-tween job sites. Utilizing the sealed-switch module (SSM), operators can get an additional 10 percent craning boost through the Lift Mode feature; when se-lected, engine rpm is auto-matically set at 1,400, and the machine maximizes hydraulic pressure for in-creased craning capabil-ity. Pressure-compensated load-sensing (PCLS) hy-draulics ensures superb multifunction operation. Standard ride control en-ables front loader hydrau-lic cylinders to act as shock absorbers, smoothing trav-el over rough terrain, help-ing full loads reach their destination and reducing operator fatigue.

Inside the cab, operators will enjoy features preva-lent on L-Series models, including extra legroom and a more comfortable seat, redesigned pilot tow-ers with fingertip electro-hydraulic (EH) controls, a multifunction lever on the

steering column to control turn signals, wipers and lights, and a state-of-the-art multi-language moni-tor. Operators can program time-specific functions, such as auto shutdown and auto idle.

Other enhanced 710L backhoe creature comforts include an efficient heat-ing, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) sys-tem, adjustable mechanical or air-suspension seat, a new lighting scheme with an optional light-emitting diode (LED) lighting kit to enhance visibility to extend the workday and an elevat-ed canopy to provide better visibility for both the front and rear of the backhoe. The 710L also has the op-tion to add premium radio with Bluetooth auxiliary in-put and SiriusXM satellite radio capability.

The standard Economy mode feature saves fuel in many applications. When activated, maximum en-gine rpm is limited in both loader and backhoe op-erations. A variable-speed electronically controlled fan automatically speeds up or slows down, operat-ing only as needed to keep things cool, helping con-serve power and fuel while

reducing noise. The 710L also boasts

the benefits of unsurpassed reliability and uptime. Same-side ground-level service points help speed daily checks. Other com-mon-sense features, such as extended service inter-vals, simple-to-read sight gauges and easy-access grease points help increase uptime and lower daily op-erating costs.

Owners looking to get the most out of their 710L can rely on Ultimate Up-time featuring John Deere WorkSight. With Ultimate Uptime, operators receive pre-delivery and follow-up inspections; three years of JDLink™ telematics, ma-chine heath prognostics and remote diagnostics and programming capability; and the ability to add addi-tional dealer-provided up-time solutions to customize the package to individual needs. b

Demolition is more powerful and efficient than ever with the new John Deere Hydraulic Hammer attachments (HH20C, HH40C, HH60C and HH80C) for skid steers, compact track load-ers (CTLs) and compact excavators. The new line of hammers is the fastest in its class, and they are more efficient and easier to maintain than previous models. The Hydraulic Hammers are the new-est product added to the consistently growing line of Worksite Pro attach-ments and are optimized to work with select John Deere G- and E-Series skid steers and compact track loaders, G-Series Compact Excavators and most com-petitive models.

Redesigned with a simplified hydraulic-breaker solution to boost productivity, the Hydrau-lic Hammers provide two to three times more blows per minute (BPM) than previous models. With

30 percent fewer parts, rebuild times are reduced to one hour versus eight hours, and an exclusive tool retention system en-ables quick installation and removal using only one small screwdriver. Additionally, the Hydrau-lic Hammers only require grease every two hours of operation and have a 1,000-hour service inter-val, contributing to lower daily operating and main-tenance costs.

Five bit options are available on the Hydraulic Hammers to further pow-er operator productivity, including: •Standard moil point

suitable for breaking concrete or medium-hard, nonstratified rock

•Optional chisel point for concrete flatwork, walls around rebar or break-ing into a precut line

•Optional spade for most concrete, asphalt cut-ting and all earthworks in soft, nonstratified rock

•Optional compacting plate for single-machine prep of dirt for concrete pads and fencing

•Optional pyramid point used to break hard, re-inforced concrete as well as sediment (only available on the HH20C and HH40C)“The Hydraulic Ham-

mers are an exceptional addition to our line of Worksite Pro attach-ments that increase the versatility of any compact machine,” said Gregg Zu-pancic, product market-ing manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “We developed this line of hammers to be a faster and easier-to-maintain so-lution, so operators can focus on getting the most productivity from their equipment as possible.”

With the universal, self-cleaning Quik-Tatch easy attachment system found on all John Deere skid steers, CTLs and compact excavators, the machine can easily add and remove the Hydraulic Hammer in no time. The new attach-ment is also backed by John Deere parts, service and warranty coverage. b

With almost 150 coun-tries, including Canada, poised to sign the Paris climate agreement in New York, some of the world’s biggest oil companies aren’t convinced there’s any end in sight for fossil fuel use.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was among sig-natories from some 147 countries who convened at the United Nations head-quarters on Earth Day, the first opportunity to formal-ly sign the global climate agreement completed in December.

The Paris accord envi-sions measures to hold the average global temperature increase to “well below two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels” and closer to 1.5 degrees. As of 2015, the world had al-ready warmed one degree, according to the U.S. Na-tional Oceanic and Atmo-spheric Administration.

Many advocates her-alded the Paris agreement as signalling the end of fos-sil fuels — the beginning of a swift transition to a de-carbonized world by mid-century.

Environment Minister Catherine McKenna, speak-ing at a World Bank event last week in Washington, said the clean energy tran-sition is a “$3 trillion op-portunity.”

thinking about this,’” said McKenna. “If you’re in oil and gas you should be thinking about renewables. That’s a huge opportunity for you, for your share-holders.”

But amid the hoopla and enthusiasm that will surround this week’s UN signing ceremonies for the Paris agreement, some global energy giants are suggesting to investors that the most aggressive carbon-cutting scenarios simply won’t come to pass.

Calgary-based Impe-rial Oil’s 2016 shareholder circular, sent in advance of the company’s April 29 annual general meeting, states that “the company’s assessment is that its op-erations will exhibit strong performance over the long-term.”

It cautions that inter-national accords and the accompanying govern-ment regulations “are evolving with uncertain timing and outcome” but states that “Imperial’s es-timates of potential costs related to possible public policies covering energy-related greenhouse gas emissions are consistent with those outlined in Exxon Mobil Corpora-tion’s long-term ‘Outlook for Energy’....”

And Exxon, which owns 70 per cent of Imperi-al Oil, isn’t buying the talk of “stranded assets” that

flared before and since the Paris agreement.

“We expect that oil, natural gas and coal — the three fuels that together built the modern econ-omy — will continue to meet almost 80 per cent of the world’s energy needs through 2040,” says Exx-on’s 2016 energy outlook, which predicts oil demand will rise 30 per cent over the next 24 years.

“We expect oil to con-tinue to be the world’s lead-ing fuel, driven by demand for transportation fuels and by the chemical industry, where oil provides the feedstock to make plastics and other advanced materi-

als,” says the outlook. Both Exxon and Chev-

ron had been seeking to block shareholder propos-als at next month’s annu-al general meetings that dealt with transparency over the business impact of global carbon emis-sions policies. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ruled this month that the companies must include the share-holder proposals at their AGMs.Not all former oil executives are as bullish.

Jeroen van der Veer, the former CEO of Royal Dutch Shell who retired in 2009, wrote last week that “un-

certainty about whether oil demand will continue to grow is already impacting the strategies of oil and gas firms.”

In an article for the World Economic Forum, van der Veer asserted that “producers are coming to realize that oil under the ground might soon be less valuable than oil produced and sold in the coming years. This dramatic shift in expectations is changing the operating environment for the future of oil and gas.”

Mark Carney, the Cana-dian-born governor of the Bank of England, has been warning about the finan-

cial dangers of “stranded assets” since 2014.

Keith Stewart, Green-peace Canada energy re-searcher, said in an inter-view that bankruptcies among major coal produc-ing companies should be a cautionary example for the oil giants as the world meets to sign on to the Par-is accord.

“They can adapt to this new reality and become en-ergy companies rather than oil companies, or they can join the dinosaurs,” said Stewart, adding “this is no longer just the Greenpeace crazies” saying so. b

The Fornebu Lumber Company needed a reliable material handler to keep up with the seasonal peaks of their business. When Fornebu bought a second Sennebogen this year, they gained 50% more material handling capacity without increasing the number of machines in their fleet.

On a busy day, 100 trucks can pull into the Fornebu Lumber yard with thousands of 9’ (2.7 m) logs to be unloaded. Truckers will pace around, checking their watches

Bar device to help cut or dislodge a winch line, rope, vines or oth-er lines that find their way into a chipper’s drum during chipper operations, potentially preventing a serious injury, death, or reduc-

hoping to be unloaded as quickly as possible in order to get another load, while at the same time, the saw line was spitting out fram-ing lumber at 700 to 800 ft (213.4 to 243.8 m) per min-ute, hungry for more logs.

On the other side of these unrelenting de-mands, Fornebu originally had 4 wheel loaders and 3 material handlers. They were good machines, but even a small problem with them cost Fornebu a lot in terms of downtime and lost productivity. Everything

ing the extent of a seri-ous injury if an operator becomes entangled in a line that is pulled into a chipper. The Shear Bar device is standard on every new Bandit drum-style hand-fed chipper since 2012, and it is

required a service call, and replacement parts weren’t easy to come by.

The question of how to keep up the pace caused Michael Godin, General Manager of Fornebu Lum-ber, many sleepless nights.Sennebogen wins on quality, safety

Soon after joining For-nebu three years ago, Go-din put a plan in place to replace the aging equip-ment in the fleet. When he began the RFP process, Sennebogen was an after-thought because he wasn’t

available as a retrofit option for all prior Ban-dit chippers.

Bandit industries have also developed a patent pending disc-style shear device that performs the same func-tion as the shear bar

familiar with the brand. But during the demo-

phase, the Sennebogen 830 material handler went from last to first on Godin’s list. The more he learned from Strongco about the machine’s easy-mainte-nance design, its robust reliability and safety, the higher it rose in his estima-tion. Godin says his strong mechanical background helped him assess the structural integrity of the machines as well as the rel-ative ease of maintenance. “The way they designed the machine, it’s very, very tough. The unique shape of the frame is stronger than what any other machine has,” he says.

Godin purchased the Sennebogen 830 M-HD S in 2013, and couldn’t be hap-pier with its performance

device on disc-style chippers. This device is standard on all Ban-dit disc-style hand fed chippers, and available as a retrofit option for all prior Bandit chip-pers.

Accidents involving winch cables and climb-ing ropes has become an important concern within the tree care industry. An accident involving a climbing rope and a competitive chipper resulted in the death of a climber. This and other incidents lead to a safety video/notice prepared by CALOSHA warning tree companies of the potential dan-gers of winch lines and climbing ropes entering the chippers.

Both ISA and TCIA are warning of the po-tential dangers of ropes and cables entering the chippers.

“We believe it is im-portant that people with-in the industry are aware of the danger of ropes or other lines entering the chipper and the avail-able technology to help prevent an injury should a line accidentally enter the chipper,” said Bandit President Jerry Morey. “We have a long history of developing and releas-ing safety innovations. We hope this latest in-novation will contribute to individual operator safety and industry-wide safety awareness.” b

so far.“I recommend Senne-

bogen material handlers to everyone,” says Go-din. “When we brought the Sennebogen on line, our costs went down. Our downtime was reduced. We save time. We save money, plus we are more efficient in the yard.”Two SennebogenS are better than one

Godin was so impressed with the quality and re-liability of the 830 that he bought a second Sen-nebogen. It is a purpose-built Sennebogen 830 M-T wheeled material handler equipped with a logging grapple.

The new Sennebogen has all the advantages of the first one, including an attachment capacity that’s

50% larger than the ma-terial handler it replaced. The Sennebogen 830 M-T can handle 1.5 cords of wood in one scoop, requir-ing more power and more stability. The 830 M-T has no trouble stacking 3,000 lb (1,361 kg) loads higher than the other machines he compared it to. By stacking the piles even a few feet higher, Fornebu can get the most use out of its 15 acre (6 hectare) lumber yard.

“The other manufactur-er’s machines are good ma-chines, but from a safety, stability and reach stand-point, the Sennebogen is far superior,” says Godin.

With the Sennebogen 830 M-T, Fornebu has 50% more unloading capacity. That means 50% faster un-loading and 100% happier truckers, says Godin.

Godin also noted that the 830 M-T material han-dler has “a lot more pow-er,” partially due to its dual transmissions. Operators use the 830 M-T to haul a trailer filled with 22 cords of wood over muddy, un-even ground.

“It’s easier to haul wood with the new Sennebogen. When we go up the hill, we

can feel the difference. You can even speed up if you want as you go up hill!” he says. Simple design saves hassles over minor issues

The Sennebogen phi-losophy to empower end-users is a huge advantage for Fornebu. The company provides free training pro-grams for mechanics and

familiarization programs for operators in its world-class Training Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The material handlers are also purpose-built to work with off-the-shelf parts.

“With Sennebogen, our technicians get the same training as our dealer, Strongco,” says Godin. “It means we can handle rou-

tine maintenance and ser-vice on our own, and that’s a very, very big plus for our company.”

With two Sennebogen material handlers in the yard, Godin has found keeping the pace (and sleeping) to be much eas-ier. b

Brokk, the world’s leading manufacturer of remote-controlled demoli-tion machines, introduces the smallest diesel-pow-ered demolition robot, the Brokk 120 D. The new machine weighs less than one-fourth of the Brokk 400 Diesel. Its 6-gallon fuel tank and efficient operation allow run times longer than 8 hours before refueling.

“We developed the Brokk 120 D based on the needs communicated to us by our customers facing especially challenging situ-ations, where they need a very compact machine that is completely independent from a fixed power source. We are convinced that this new model will bring great value to a variety of dif-ficult applications,” said Martin Krupicka, CEO of Brokk AB.

The Brokk 120 D’s com-pact size — 31 inches wide, 80 inches long and 49 inches high — enables it to pass through any standard door opening as well as

maneuver in tight spaces. Meanwhile, its light weight — about 2,700 pounds — allows it to drive over weight-restricted floors and helps make it easy to trans-port to and from sites.

Powered by a com-pact and efficient diesel engine, the Brokk 120 D can run a full shift inde-pendent from any power source. This flexibility comes without sacrific-ing any of the power and performance of its sim-ilar-sized electric-pow-ered sibling, the Brokk 100. Plus, the Brokk 120 D uses the same attach-ments and generates the same hydraulic power as the Brokk 100, increasing its versatility.

Brokk designed the Brokk 120 D for a variety of applications. It fulfills emergency response needs for search-and-rescue ef-forts, explosive ordinance disposal and firefighting. It’s suited for use in the nuclear industry due to its compact size and power.

The construction indus-try can benefit from its easy transport, diversity of attachments, and light weight that make it ideal for a variety of jobs, includ-ing demolition and cutting. The B120 D also fits well in the process and under-ground industries, where use of a power cable can be inconvenient or inadvis-able.

The Brokk 120 D is the third and smallest, die-sel-powered machine in Brokk’s lineup. The Brokk 400 Diesel and Brokk 800 Diesel have been available for several years, but are significantly larger than the Brokk 120 D. b

The Canadian forest products industry is pledg-ing to help Canada move to a low-carbon economy by removing 30 megatonnes (MT) of CO2 per year by 2030 — more than 13% of the Canadian government’s emissions target.

The “30 by 30” Climate Change Challenge was is-sued today by the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC), making the forest sector the first to voluntarily contribute to the federal government’s climate goals. Canada has signed the Paris agreement on climate change and is now promising to reduce emissions by 30%, the

equivalent of cutting 225 MT of CO2 a year by 2030.

The forest sector has a solid record of reducing greenhouse gases from its manufacturing processes. Since 1990 for example, Canada’s pulp and paper industry has reduced GHG emissions by about 66%.

“Our industry is unique-ly positioned to be a cru-cial part of the solution to climate change because our renewable forests and forest products all store carbon,” says Derek Nigh-bor, the CEO of FPAC. “We want to step up to the plate and do our part to help Canada reach its ambitious targets”.

The sector has calcu-lated the 30MT can be reached by such measures as forest management prac-tices that can maximize carbon storage in the for-est and spur the growth of trees, by increasing the use of innovative forest prod-ucts and clean tech to dis-place materials made from fossil fuels, and by further efficiencies at mill sites.

“According to a survey of international custom-ers by Leger Marketing, Canada’s forest products industry has the best en-vironmental practices and reputation in the world,” says the President and CEO of Resolute Forest Products, Richard Garneau. “The for-est sector is already ahead of the curve, for example in significantly cutting green-house gas emissions. Now our industry is taking the next step by raising the bar yet again, helping Cana-da reach its new climate goals.”

Ted Seraphim, Presi-dent and CEO of West Fraser, adds “30 by 30 is an important challenge, and one we have the de-termination to achieve. Our sector, in partnership with governments at all levels, has been able to accelerate our progress to reach our ambitious targets. We are ready to step up again and make a significant contribution to Canada’s climate goals.”

FPAC is now working hard on a detailed road map to further flesh out the details on how it intends to meet the Climate Change Challenge. For more details on the challenge go to fpac.ca/30by30.

The Minister of Environ-ment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna wel-comes the plan: “I truly appreciate how the for-est products industry has become the first sector

to unveil how it can help Canada reach its emissions reduction target. This is the kind of contribution that we need from industry and I would encourage other sectors to show similar ini-tiative”

Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, Jim Carr, also welcomed the announcement: “There can be no global solu-tion to climate change without the forest sector, and the 30×30 challenge demonstrates the sec-tor’s leadership. Through innovation in sustain-able forest management, tall wood buildings, and the development of for-est-based bio-products, including biofuels, the forest sector continues to adapt to meet the de-mands of changing glob-al markets and the goal of a low- carbon econo-my.”

The executive director of the Canadian Climate Forum, Deirdre Lafram-boise: “Canada needs lead-ership from all sectors if we are truly to become a climate change responsible nation. FPAC has shown such leadership with ’30 by 30’, and the Canadian Cli-

mate Forum applauds and supports this important initiative. The wise man-agement of our forests and their products as proposed by FPAC can have a signifi-cant contribution to Can-ada meeting its domestic

greenhouse gas emission targets, as well as those committed to under our international commitments made at COP21, December 2015.” b

Peter Price, Managing Director of Ammann Can-ada, recently announced that Top Lift Enterprises, Inc. has joined Ammann Canada’s growing network of dealers. Top Lift will provide sales, rentals, parts and service to custom-ers throughout South and Southwestern Ontario from Ottawa to Windsor.

“Top Lift has the expe-rience and staff to support this busy region,” says Price. “With their resourc-es, Top Lift can provide fast, efficient service to our customers. We’re thrilled that they’ve chosen to be-come part of the Ammann Canada family.”

Eric Durnford, General Sales Manager for Top Lift, says the decision to be-come an Ammann dealer was customer-driven. “Our customers were demand-ing Ammann products,” he says. “We considered the Ammann reputation for quality compaction equip-ment, and we knew that the Ammann products would

complement our other lines of heavy equipment 100%.”

Durnford says that Top Lift will stock the full line-up of Ammann ride-on compaction equipment

featuring the ACE compac-tion control system, double drum asphalt machines and 24-ton rubber-tired roll-ers. All Top Lift sales staff will receive training on the Ammann equipment. Both Ontario locations – Stoney Creek and Bolton – will stock Ammann products.

Top Lift Enterprises is one of Canada’s fastest growing construction equip-

ment and heavy industrial dealers with locations in Surrey, BC, Stoney Creek, ON, Bolton, ON, St. Lau-rent, QC and Sherbrooke, QC. Top Lift specializes in sales and service of new and used premium construction equipment, material han-dling equipment and com-pact equipment. b
