Technology Development –Cell Phone Tracker
• Requirement derived from experience at NOVEX and Ardent Sentry 07
– Need for a small, “cell-phone-sized” tracking unit for CST and first responder personnel
– Both IGRS and EDI considered too large
– Much of the EDI and IGRS functionality not needed for this application
• Internally developed specifications:
– Small, <3-4 x size of a cell phone
– Use existing smart phone technology (includes GPS) to reduce costs
– Variable update rate, based on on participant dynamics
– MANET capable
– Multiple frequencies—US and Euro GSM, 802.11
– Battery life ~ several hours
– Interface to other sensors
