Dear all,
We have successfully completed the first half term of this academic year. I know that students and staff alike are looking forward to some relaxation and re-energising over the half term break so I would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday.
The week has been jam packed again with lots of activities taking place across the school. We had our second collaboration with Vauxhall “Vans R Us” where our Year 9 Student Leaders facilitated the activities with Stopsley Primary School students. Fun, hands on engaging activities for all - please see our Twitter feed for some photos of their work.
Thursday evening had two exciting events. Mrs Stewart and Year 7 students were busily crafting and carving pumpkins into exciting designs for the annual Year 7 Pumpkin competition. Our other event was the highly anticipated Post 16 Choices Evening for Year 11 parents, carers and students, which saw a wide range of Colleges, Sixth Forms and Apprenticeship Schemes share details of what they have to offer our students when they transition on to the next phase of their education.
I have also had an exciting week as we have been visiting the Primary schools to announce the winners of our Open Evening competition and donate books to their libraries. We are very grateful to the Headteachers, staff and students at Wigmore Primary School, Warden Hill Primary School, Someries Junior School, Stopsley Primary School, Ramridge Primary School and Putteridge Primary School for the warm welcome we received and congratulations once again to those lucky winners of the Kindle Fire. We look forward to visiting Bushmead Primary School, St Matthew's Primary School and Welock Juniors School after half term.
Thank you to parents, carers, students and staff for your ongoing support,
Ms Hand

Thank you to the following students for helping with the Vauxhall program. You have demonstrated the Top Class standard.
Student VoiceMiss Daubeney would like to say a massive well done to all of those students who were successful in becoming Student Voice Ambassadors. Lots of brilliant applications were received and it is so lovely to see so many students wanting to be involved with their school community. This week Student Voice held their first meeting where we looked at the themes of Inclusion and Equality. Some brilliant suggestions were shared and we look forward to working with all of the them. Watch this space Student Voice!
The students have undertaken all the tasks with enthusiasm and effort.
Well done to the students and staff, have a lovely half term.

Open Afternoon
NHS COVID-19
20th October 2021 Dear Parents and Carers, We recently visited your child’s school to offer COVID-19 Vaccinations, but ran out of time to see all eligible 12-15 year old pupils. We apologise for this inconvenience. If your child wasn’t vaccinated on this day and you would still like them to receive their COVID vaccination, there are additional opportunities for them to have this which is detailed below.
Our Immunisation Team will notify you (via your school communications channel) of a new, rescheduled date when we can return to the school to vaccinate the remaining students whose parent’s consented to receive their vaccine but were missed. Any parents or carers of children who were unable to give their consent before our first visit will be offered another opportunity in advance of the newly rescheduled date.
Alternatively, we have also opened specific time slots at some Vaccination sites. Any parent or carer deciding to choose this option must first book a confirmed appointment for their child, before arriving at the allocated vaccination centre. There is no walk-in option available for 12-15 year olds at Mass Vaccination sites so you must book to ensure that the appropriate dose of COVID-19 vaccination is available when you attend. You can book into these sessions through the National COVID-19 Booking System at: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ or by scanning this QR code:
Additional appointments will be added as they become available. You are also invited to attend a walk in session on Tuesday 26th October at: Icknield High School – Riddy Lane, Luton, LU3 2AH between 10am – 4pm Additional ‘Pop Up’ session will also be added and details will be published on the EPUT Facebook page and website: https://eput.nhs.uk/news-events/coronavirus/coronavirus-vaccine/walk-in-clinics-pfizer/ If you have any queries, please contact the relevant Immunisation Team (below). We ask for your patience if there are delays in getting through, this is due to the high number of enquiries we are currently receiving: 0300 790 0597 – Essex 0300 790 0594 – Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes Once again thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to make sure every eligible child receives their COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. Yours faithfully,
Essex Partnership University Trust Immunisation Service.
