The «New-Burlesque» in London (UK)
The New Burlesque which is a nostalgic art of pin ups and big american cars, with references to rockabilly and fifties’glamour, has a regenerated scene in London.This art sees its renewal operating thanks to international stars such as Dita Von Teese or Dirty Martini who participated in getting it back on the scene as a trendy art.
Former strip tease is no longer at stake with its multiform universe because of the stories told on stage by performers and because of their shapes. Once striped off, these ladies decide and control the audience’s attention- by using their feminity, they are empowered to frustate any eyes if they want.This wind coming from the United States borrows some codes to the dusty past and met a Londoner scene surprisingly dynamic and overcrowded. These artists are renewing old Chat Noir’s acts, the famous Parisian cabaret.Yet, does this art has already come to the end of its transformation or can we ex-pect new burlesque to be a changing art? If so, to which extent ? We deep into this universe, in London, where imaginary is constantly stimulated and where classical strip-tease is not even the main course and, ultimately, where humour and sexy are wonderful partners on stage.
We offer a turnkey report- text and photographies- on this contemporary and theatrical art which invites itself in the places of its representation like festivals and which also goes along with these artists who opened for us the doors of their universe.
Among contributors we take account of several London’s scene performers, inclu-ded a few stars, and also the opinion and ideas of the redactor in chief of Bizarre magazine as well as other people linked to the New Burlesque.
