Preface

Before You Begin...

Safety Precautions and Equipments

Thank you for your recent acquisition of the Systema Professional TrainingWeapon System. With decades of experiences in making the finest airsoftupgrade components and countless hours of research and development, we areconfident that you will find years of excellent and trouble-free service from theSystema Professional Training Weapons. I would like to thank you for theopportunity to serve you as well as the community that your agency in turn mayserves, and I hope you will find this to be an exceptional training tool, helpingofficers prepare for the unexpected.

Best regards,

Kumi YoshidaCEO, Systema Engineering

Please take the time and familiar yourself with the Systema Professional TrainingWeapon, and read this user’s manual thoroughly. Remember the ProfessionalTraining Weapon is . Although it is designed and engineered to be asafe and effective force-on-force, non-leathal training tool, as with any otheractivities or training exercises thatif the unit is handled inappropriately, misused, or improperly disassembled.

NOT A TOY

serious injuries to you or others can occur

First and foremost, ALWAYS handle the Professional Training Weapon as if it is areal weapon, first to minimize the possibility of accidents but more so to promoteand exercise safe firearm handling practices.

Secondly, wear appropriate protections during training. We strongly encouragemaking full-sealing, ANZI 87.1-1989 rated tactical goggles a REQUIREDequipment for every participants during force-on-force training using SystemaProfessional Training Weapons. Ballistic shooting glasses that does not providea complete seal around the user’s eyes are generally considered insufficient eyeprotections. If your agency already utilize tactical goggles during any operations, use it during training as well!

Furthermore, other appropriate body protections should also be employed as thesituation calls for. In extreme close-range engagements using the SystemaTraining Weapons, helmets, long-sleve uniforms, tactical vests and gloves arerecommended for obvious reasons.

The bottom line is, officer safety is our utmost concern and must not be takenlightly!

After the battery compartment door isremoved, locate the battery connectorinside the center tube, and extract it outof the stock. Pull the connector lightly toavoid damage to the wiring.

Insert battery as shown, ensuring theconnectors on both the battery-side andthe stock-side lines up, then carefullyconnect them. The connectors arepolarized so they will only fit together inone direction.

With the connectors securely lockedtogether, proceed to slide the batteryinto the stock. Pull the small wire gentlyas shown to assist in retracting thebattery connectors back into the centertube. This will also ensure proper stockextension/retraction without tangling theelectrical connections.

Finally install the battery compartmentcover, making sure it latches securely tothe stock. Your Systema ProfessionalTraining Weapon is now ready for use.

When replacing batteries, waitat least 10 seconds after thedrained battery is removed, before you connect the freshlycharged battery. This will allowthe circuitry to reset.

Loading the Magazines

Locate the top opening of the tube, andfeed BBs into the tube. Although themagazine will hold 80 or 120 rounds(please consult with your Systemadealer for your unit’s exact capacity),for realism in training you may want toload only 30 BBs in each magazine.

Furthermore, avoid contacting the BBs with your bare hand, as body oils or dirtsmay affect the ballistic and trajactory. The use of a loading bottle is preferred.

To load BB bullets into the magazine, first place the provided loading tool overthe magazine’s feeding/loading port, andhold it firmly as shown.

It is important to only use highquality BBs to ensure accuracyand reliability. Inferior qualityBBs may not be perfectly roundnor conform to the 6mmstandard. Poor quality BBs cancause jamming and should beavoided.

While keeping a firm grip on themagazine and loading tool, insert theprovided acrylic rod into the feedingtube with your other hand. Use theacrylic rod to push the BBs through theloading tube into the magazine. Youshould not need to apply excessiveforce. Repeat the loading process if youneed to load more BBs then the loadingtube will hold. When a resistant buildsup while pushing the loading rod down, your magazine is full.

Select the firing mode by using thesafety / fire selector lever. Its operationand position is the same as a real M16.2 firing mode is provided: semi-automatic and fully-automatic. YourProfessional Training Weapon is nowready to fire. Return the selector leverto “safe” after firing.

The Professional Training Weapon hasa sensor that will cut off electricity to themotor once it has sensed that themagazine is emptied. To reload theweapon, depress the magazine releasebutton and remove the magazine.Repeat the previous steps (insert newmagazine and depress the bolt-catchrelease) to resume firing.

Depress the bolt-catch release pad tosimulate releasing the bolt of a realM16. Although you will not feel a boltslamming forward in the ProfessionalTraining Weapon, this action is stillrequired as an electrical sensor locatedbehind the bolt-catch will prevent the

gun from firing after a magazine is emptied. This is designed to simulate a realM16’s operation as closely as possible.

Firing

First insert a loaded magazine into themagazine well as you would with a realM4/M16. You can ensure the magazinecatch is fully engaged by briefly pullingthe magazine down after its inserted.

Firing (Continued)

The Systema Professional TrainingWeapon Model M4-A1 is equipped witha collapsible (retractable) stock. Thebutt stock can be extended or retractedto suit different tactical requirements.

To change the position of the stock, simply depress the stock release leverlocated on the bottom of the stock. Thisis typically accomplished by a “squeeze”action with the user’s thumb applyingpressure on the top of the stock, whilethe index and middle fingers applypressure on the lever. Once the lever isdepressed, slide the stock to the desiredposition, and release the locking lever.Lightly pull the stock forward or aft tolock it securely onto one of the pre-setlocking position, before shouldering andfiring the weapon.

The Systema Professional TrainingWeapon Model M4-A1 is also equippedwith a flat-top receiver and

. The rail system atopthe receiver can be used to mountvarious accessories, most commonlyrifle scopes. To remove the carryinghandle, simply loosen the two thumb-screws by turning them counter-clockwise, then lift the carrying handleaway.

The Systema Professional TrainingWeapon is manufactured to 100%military specifications, which means anystandard rail-mount accessories can besecurely attached to the flat-topreceiver. This ensure the same gearsand/or optics your officers rely on duringreal life combats can also be attachedand used during training.

Hop-Up Adjustments

To adjust the hop-up, remove themagazine and locate the hop-upadjustment set-screw. Turning thescrew clockwise will reduce the effect ofhop-up, while turning the screw counter-clockwise will increase the effect of hop-up.

Hop-up is a special feature that extendsthe effective range of the ProfessionalTraining Weapon by putting a “back-spin” on the BB bullet. The back-spinwill create additional aerodynamic lift, effectively makes the BB “float” in the airand increases its effective range.

For typical in-door, force-on-force training, the engagement distance will be soshort that the effect of hop-up will not be noticeable. As a result, for premises-entry type of training, the adjustment of hop-up is typically unnecessary. However, in larger area of operations such as urban warfare training/scenarios,proper adjustments of hop-up is a critical component in maximizing theeffectiveness of the Professional Training Weapon.

After the adjustments has been made, install the magazine and test-fire theweapon in a shooting range. Noticethe trajectory and re-adjust ifnecessary. Please also note that every

brand/type/weight of BBs will require a slightly different hop-up adjustments; forexample heavier BB typically requires more back-spin to “stay afloat”,and thesmoothness of the BB’s service also requires slightly different settings. As aresult, it is advisable to standardize on a particular type/model of BB so that youdo not need to re-calibrate the ho-up every time a new round is used.

Take-down and Maintenance

To disassemble the ProfessionalTraining Weapon, first punch-out therear receiver pin until the stopper pin(similar to the real M16) engages. Thestopper pin prevents the rear receiverpin from falling out of the receiver, so donot attempt to completely remove therear receiver pin from the lower receiver.

With your palm rested firmly on top ofthe stock, push the charging handle withyour thumb to pivot the upper receiver. There is a spring-loaded ball bearingthat holds the upper receiver securely inplace, so a considerable force may berequired to open the upper receiver.

After removing the cylinder unit, thecharging handle can also be removedby sliding it all the way back then tiltingit. Replacement and upgrade cylinderunits will be available from yourSystema dealers shortly.

Page 8

To remove the cylinder unit, pull thecharging handle back firmly whileensuring the charging handle latch, located on the left side of the charginghandle, is also released. The cylinderunit will slide out towards the back asyou pull the charging handle.

Note that due to very tight manufacturing tolerance, the cylinder unit may beinitially difficult to extract. In time it will “break-in” and gradually becomes easier

to remove.

Chapter 2 - Advanced Features

Page 10: Sytema PTW Manual - Systema User Group Battery Installations Prior to use, a battery must be installed to power the Systema Professional Training Weapon. To install the battery,

To remove the inner barrel, use a plasticrod (such as the provided acrylic loadingrod) and insert it from the muzzle-end.Run the acrylic rod along the inside wallof the outer-barrel until it make contactwith the tip of the inner barrel, then pushthe inner barrel out.

Page 9

Take-down and Maintenance (Continued)

Remove the inner barrel by sliding itthrough the upper receiver, towards therear of the gun.

Occasionally lubricate the rubber sealand hop-up unit from the loading port ofthe inner barrel. Use only pure (100%)silicon oil, as many other lubricants(such as mineral oil, automotivelubricants, or WD-40) can immediatelydestroy the o-rings and other rubbercomponents found within the innerbarrel. Your Systema dealer will be able to supply the correct lubricant for theProfessional Training Weapon.

Caution: While the receiver is in theopened position, DO NOT touch any ofthe electrical connectors and/or thecircuit board itself, especially when thebattery is connected. Damagedelectrical components are NOT user-servicable and must be returned to thefactory for repair.

To re-assemble the Professional Training Weapon, simply reverse the take-downprocedure:

1. Install the inner barrel2. Install the charging handle3. Install the cylinder unit (note the alignment notch on the unit, and make sure

the cylinder is inserted all the way)4. Ensure the sector gear is aligned correctly5. Close the upper receiver6. Move rear receiver pin back to its original position

Caution: While the receiver is in theopened position, DO NOT pull thetrigger. If a battery is installed and thefire-selector is not set at “Safe”, thegears will “dry-spin” and potentially mis-aligning the sector gear. The upperreceiver will not close when the sectorgear is in the wrong position, and majorhardware damages can occur if theupper receiver is forced to close in thissituation. If you accidentally dry-spin thegears, tap the trigger lightly until all of the sector gear’s teeth rotates inside thelower receiver (as shown), before you attempt to close the upper receiver.
