Tonight’s informance:  This evening we celebrate the amazing passion, attitude, spirit, grit, and character of our FHS Choir students! Tonight we invite you to join us live (online) for our performance. Actually, we are calling it an “informance”, because our goal tonight is to share and celebrate what we have been able to accomplish, despite the adversity, and share what we are working on. Tonight it’s about the process. When it could have been so easy to look at all the limitations and barriers that could hold us back from using our voices to learn and make music, our students have joined us on a journey of possibility. What can we do!? We can do something! Our discovery is that doing something feels better than doing nothing.   What do we do? We rehearse on our spacious recital hall stage where we can spread out and sing at a safe distance. We sing with masks on and we thank the many volunteers who made “singing” masks available to our students at no cost. Our time is limited and we meet in person just once a week. This means that our students have the responsibility and opportunity to grow in their autonomy as singing musicians, learning to master notes and rhythms at home and using precious ensemble time to put it all together. We have classmates learning at home who log in and join our rehearsals via live video conference. We take breaks during rehearsal to allow for a full air exchange in our singing space. During that break we head to another location where we connect as a choir or accomplish other types of musical learning and when the weather cooperates we sing outside! We focus on building skills as musicians and technique as singers. We explore music that is engaging, fun, and meaningful to sing. We focus

on what we can do despite many limitations and tonight we invite you to join us in appreciating the process.   This will be our first time combining both cohorts within each choir. You will join us in hearing each of our full ensembles singing together for the very first time. You will witness our usual warm up routine where we focus on engaging the singers’ vocal tone, technique, ensemble awareness, and creating a safe space to explore our voices and the potential to use them expressively. We will demonstrate how we use solfege and a program called Sightreading Factory to foster music literacy. Finally, you will hear us explore a couple of songs that we’ve been working on. We sing them together as a whole choir for the very first time tonight! Thank you for joining us tonight and for supporting us in the process.

Annual Poinsettia Fundraiser Reminder: Turn in Date for forms is Oct. 30th

We're proud to offer you locally grown poinsettias from one of the top growers of poinsettias in the country. The Bachman family has been growing and selling these beautiful plants for the holidays since the 1940's. All of Bachman's grown poinsettias are distributed and sold within 100 miles of the Twin Cities, which is important to us as a local organization.

Livia’s Seasoning Salt  Usually available for purchase at all FHS Choir events, Livia’s Seasoning Salt has been a huge hit among choir families and friends. If your supply has run low or you need to stock up, you can always purchase more by sending payment with your student. One half of each shaker sold goes directly to our choir program. A quality product at a reasonable price, this makes for the perfect gift to share with others during the Holidays. They are $10 each. Checks should be made payable to TFC, FHS Choir.

Mamma Mia!

Four outdoor performances of our show will be presented at Boeckman Middle School in the East Parking Lot. Due to crowd limitations, seating for the general public will be first come, first served which might mean we would “sell out”. There is no cost, but a free will donation will be taken. Bring your own chairs, blankets, dress warmly, and join us for a truly unique and amazing performance by the students of our theatre program. Shows begin at 6:30 p.m. On October 23, 24, 25, & 29.

We thank our booster organization for the tremendous support they offer the students and directors of our program! If you would like to know more about FFC and would like to be more involved as a choir parent, please reach out to Ms. Dimich or Mr. Ohnsorg for more information.
