SYNOPSIS (THIS OUTLINES THE FLOW OF THE PARTY EVENTS).

‘HO HO…HEY! WHO KIDNAPPED RUDY THE ROSY-NOSED REINDEER?

It was time for the annual pre-Christmas meeting at Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus’s home in the North Pole. This was the bustling time of the year when the Christmas workers needed to stop working for a moment and come together to discuss how Christmas was unraveling. The meeting attendees arrived as planned at Santa’s home. They enjoyed appetizers and engaged in fun Christmas trivia questions while waiting for the meeting to begin. They had fun with an exciting game of ‘What Christmas Thing am I’ followed by a challenging game of Christmas Taboo. Mrs. Claus served a delicious dinner along with an entertaining Christmas Scramble challenge. Everyone noticed that Rudy the Rosy-nosed reindeer hadn’t arrived at the meeting and to everyone’s dismay…a kidnapper’s note was found in his stable! The Christmas characters all rallied together to figure out whodunit before Christmas was ruined! After everyone accused who they believed the kidnapper was…everyone came clean with their involvement in the crime and…the kidnapper confessed! After a fun scavenger hunt to find Rudy the Rosy-nosed Reindeer, the group played a fun game of Christmas Charades. Overall, Christmas had its issues behind the scenes…but the nice boys and girls got their presents on Christmas morning according to plan.

HOST DIRECTIVES

Get ready for a fun Christmas with the ‘Ho Ho…Hey! Who Kidnapped Rudy the Rosy-Nosed Reindeer?’ game from mymysteryparty.com! This light-hearted game is a light sleuthing mystery where the players will act out a fun Christmas character while they solve the entertaining and family-friendly mystery! The party can be a huge success as long as you and your guests relax and let the mystery unravel during each round. The party pack (this document) needs to be printed in advance of the party. Cut out the clues and slip them into envelopes labeled with the appropriate round and character for each round of the party. It is optimal to choose different colored envelopes for each round. During the party, your job as the host is to ensure that the envelopes are given to the guests at the appropriate times and most of all – that you and your guest are having a blast!! There are a few props you will need to collect in advance and

Page 4: TABLE OF CONTENTS SYNOPSIS (THIS OUTLINES THE FLOW …...Who Kidnapped Rudy the Rosy-Nosed Reindeer?’ game from mymysteryparty.com! This light-hearted game is a light sleuthing mystery

Fingerprint Challenge and Fingerprint Reference sheets (page 53-54). Cut out and hide prior to the party in the “Stable” (or room designated as the Stable) for the round two Fingerprint Challenge.

• OPTIONAL: slips of paper with the topics for the charades game (page 55) written on them, folded and put into a container.

• OPTIONAL: host supplied prizes for the winners of the challenges and for the winners - who guess the criminal and motive correctly. My Mystery Party has Award Certificates for sale on the www.MyMysteryParty.com site.

• Make sure that there are post-it notes and a pen for Prisser available and out in the open for him/her to find. • Page 64 - Rudy Rudolph Sign - use for the finale of the game as a fun and exciting scavenger hunt.

If you do not want to know the solution, do not view the final round of clues. For a complete surprise, you can elect the pre-printed ‘party ready’ party pack option from the mymysteryparty.com site and we will send you the clues in sealed envelopes and the rest of prepared game documents –‘ready to go’ (this is an additional charge but a great relief for you).

THE GAME IS ORGANIZED INTO FOUR ROUNDS AND IS STRUCTURED AS FOLLOWS:

OPTIONAL PRE-GAME STARTER: these pre-game starters are to be delivered to each guest before the party or give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game starters are optional and do not alter the mystery and are intended to enhance the pre-game build up for the event. These clues are not vital to solving the mystery. APPETIZER HOUR / ROUND ONE: Deliver these clues as your guests arrive. Serve appetizers and yummy drinks (eggnog cocktails for adults). DINNER HOUR / ROUND TWO: Deliver these clues during dinner to your guests ☺ THE BIG REVEAL/ SOLUTION ROUND THREE: Deliver these clues with hot chocolate (coffee) and dessert! HELPFUL HINTS ON HOW TO PLAY A MYSTERY PARTY

GUEST INSTRUCTIONS

So you’ve been assigned a character and you’ve come to the party dressed in the most fabulous Christmas costume for your assigned character and have been told to play your role. So now what? The mystery is separated into 3 main rounds of party play. During the party, you will be handed an envelope that contains the clues necessary for your character for the round. The clues for all of the required characters provide everything that you need to solve the mystery. However, during the investigation segment of the game, you will need to ask the right questions and pay close attention to everyone’s clues to be able to get the whole picture of what has happened. From this point forward, you are to remain in character until the mystery is solved. If you are playing a ‘green alien from Mars’, then that is who you are until the end! Undoubtedly, your host has cast you into a character that you are comfortable playing. There are some characters that are designed to be played more reserved than other characters that should be played more boisterous. Feel free to play your role however you feel comfortable. Embellish your character’s personality if you would like. However, if you are feeling more reserved tonight, you can opt to allow the other characters to approach you or you can simply listen in on others’ conversations to get your information.

After the challenge, pass out the envelopes for round two to the guests and encourage them over the next thirty minutes to mingle while implementing their 'pre-crime' reveal clues for round two. Do not forget to implement your own 'pre-crime' clues and mingle with your guests before you advance the round. Prisser will be instructed to announce the crime once everyone has completed their pre-crime tasks. You can help Prisser judge when everyone is done with their pre-crime tasks. Make sure to give everyone time to them in a room designated as the ‘stables’ and allow your guests to hunt for them and then compare with the reference sheet. 2. Simply lay them out on a table next to the reference sheet and allow your guests to view them. Tell everyone to take a minute and come up with their own conclusions on the fingerprints and to include that information in their investigations and guesses of whodunit. At the conclusion of this round, give the guests a time period in which to fill in their final guesses as to whodunit on the 'Mystery Investigation Sheets' (pages 39+). Any time during this round, the ‘Christmas Taboo’ game can be played. PROP LIST: These are props needed for this round. Collect these items in advance and have them ready!

• The Mystery Investigation Sheets (page 39+). • The ‘Christmas Scramble Challenge sheets – one for each team of 2-3 guests’ (below). • Answer key for the ‘Christmas Scramble Challenge’ (below). • The fingerprint challenge (page 55-56). • If the optional ‘Christmas Taboo’ is played, the Taboo cards and a timer are needed. ROUND TWO CLUES: Cut out and slip these clues into sealed and labeled (i.e. round two, character name) envelopes and hand to your guests after the ‘Christmas

Scramble Challenge’ to officially begin round two.

MRS. SANTA CLAUS – ROUND TWO. DINNER IS SERVED!! PRE-CRIME:

Tell Santa that you think it is best if he takes Christmas off this year. Say that you two should go to the Bahamas. Tell Dap that you think that the toy making elves need to get massages just like the reindeer get to do. Say that anyone

that has such a long and strenuous job needs to have a massage every now and then. Tell Dap it would only take ten minutes per elf per week.

See if Ebbie will sing a Christmas song with you. Try to get him in the holiday spirit! If anyone asks, you would never go on a sleigh run on Christmas Eve. You would never have the stamina to keep up with

Santa. POST-CRIME:

About one hour and thirty minutes before the meeting started, you fed all of the reindeer in the stable and groomed them. You didn’t see any mud puddles in the stables when you were there.

PERSONAL INFORMATION: (This information can be concealed from the other guests.)

You are not sad that Rudy is missing as it makes it easier to leave for a vacation and skip Christmas!

Each character has a round two clue card in

the purchased game

Say the following to the group: “I admit that I wanted Santa to skip this Christmas this year. He has just been so stressed this year and I could tell he was losing his edge a little and I started to worry. So yes, I wanted to take off and go the Bahamas…but the truth is…he wouldn’t allow it. He is called Father Christmas for a reason and I respect that. But the day after Christmas…we’re going to the Bahamas and that’s final! I’ll be on a beach in my red velvet bikini in no time!” SANTA CLAUS IS NEXT TO READ HIS CLUE
