1.0 INTRODUCTIONTacheometry is a system of rapid surveying, by which the positions, both horizontal and vertical, of points on the earth surface relatively to one another are determined without using a chain or tape or a separate levelling instrument. It is an optical solution to the measurement of distance and elevation (vertical distance).

2.0 OBJECTIVE1. To determine the features and its exact location that exists around our site location either natural or unnatural.2. To determine the ground level and the contour around our location.

3.0 EQUIPMENT

1. Total station

2. 2 mini prism

3. 2 poles

4. Tripod

4.0PROCEDURE1. Fly-levelling work was done to establish a new temporary benchmark (TBM) which is closer to site, since we our location is too far from the given datum.

2. We selected the datum 05 as our reference point and levelling was done from this point.

3. From our new TBM which we named TBM-A, we use this as our new reference point to determine the reduce level for each of our point which is point 1,2,3,4, and 5.

4. The surveying work was proceed.

5. Points which can allow us to see many features surrounding the area was chosen.6. Point 1 was chosen first and total station was set up there.

7. The height of instrument (total station) was measured and recorded.

8. Pole with the mini prism was set up at station 2.9. The height of the pole is set and recorded.10. The bearing for point 1 to point 2 was set in the total station.

11. Prism located at point 2 was shoot and reading is recorded.

12. We proceed to shoot any features that is visible from this point. Features such as coconut tree, manhole, electric pole, corner of buildings, was shoot.

13. The bearing, horizontal distance, and vertical distance was recorded.

14. Step 6 until 13 was repeated at a different point. (point 1,3,4,5 were selected) until all features was shoot.5.0 RESULT6.0 DATA ANALYSISRL = RL(inst) + IH(inst. Ht) HT(pole Ht) HD (Ht Diff)Example from point 1 to point 2.

7.0DISCUSSION

The first step we had to do was to establish a new TBM which is closer to our site. We chose datum 05 as our reference. We did levelling twice since the first trial we failed in getting a value below the misclosure value. After establishing a new TBM, reduce level for all our points was produce and this is recorded and used in calculation to get the Reduce Level Point.

From the last surveying work, which is traverse work, we produce bearing for each point our site. Here, we can get the boundary of our location. From this boundary, we need to know the coordinate for each point. When we establish the coordinate, we are able to get the area of our site.

From all these surveying work above, we can proceed in tacheometry surveying work. We produce the exact location of the features around the site. All these features are then transferred into surveying software to produce the topographic and detail plan.

From the plan that we have plotted and produce, we can see what lies at our location and the contour of the earth around that area. The next step can now be taken at the site for setting out work.

8.0 CONCLUSIONFor our conclusion, we noticed that there are many problems that occur while doing this surveying work. This is because, the datas are linked from the first surveying work, which is levelling, proceed to traverse, and finally tacheometry.

The factors that contribute to all the occurred problems is that we cannot the allowable closure. This effect to us in order to get the reduce level for our new TBM.

Although we get more problem in doing this surveying work but we still can produce the topographic and detail plan, by overcome all the problems that have occurs.
