It is understood that the first A350 XWB known as Island of Viti Levu will arrive most probably by late

next month. This is the first of its kind oper-

ated by an airline in the Pacific region.

The aircraft currently undergo-ing the final phase of its assembly process in Toulose, along with the installation of engines followed by ground and flight tests.

Combining the latest aerodynam-ics, new Rolls-Royce Trent XWB generation engines and use of lightweight materials, the A350 XWB brings a 25 per cent advan-tage in fuel burn, operating costs and carbon dioxide emissions com-pared to previous generation sim-ilar-sized aircraft, meaning a sig-

nificant reduction to the airline’s carbon footprint and fuel cost.

In an earlier statement, Fiji Air-ways managing director and chief executive officer Andre Viljoen said: “We are extremely pleased with this selection and proud of the confirmed arrangements with Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE)
