MYANENERGY – Myanmar’s No. 1 Interna�onal Power & Electrical Engineering Show will be back again, even bigger and be�er at MEP Mindama in Yangon from 29 November - 1 December 2018. MYANENERGY 2018 will build on the success of the last show by delivering key decision makers and purchasers. Myanmar’s civilian Government are keen to improve its energy sector which is targeted to serve as a catalyst for the country’s economic expansion, with efforts to integrate its energy sub-sectors under one stream. New commi�ees have been formed, namely the Na�onal Energy Management Commi�ee, with the responsibility to establish energy policies and coordinate coopera�on among Government figures.The na�on’s present energy grid is mainly focused on urban areas, with only 26% of the popula�on

benefi�ng, while nearly 70% in rural areas are not connected, with average electrifica�on rates standing at just 16%. This shows a great need to upgrade the country’s domes�c energy mix and MYANENERGY 2018 will present opportuni�es to develop the country’s energy infrastructure. Myanmar’s GDP growth rate is projected to rise to 8% in 2018 – ADB.

Electricity demand in Myanmar surged by approximately 13% a year.

Demand is projected to hit 4,500 MW by 2020, and 13,410 MW in 2030.

Myanmar’s Energy Development Commi�ee are tasked to implement several policies including maintaining energy independence, promo�ng alterna�ve fuels for household use, promo�ng wider renewable energy use, and promo�ng energy efficiency and conserva�on.
