WE BUILD PARTNERSHIPS

UPDATE

This edition of Mjølner UPDATE is devoted to a value that

is fundamental to our way of doing business: partnerships.

Strong partnerships enable us to help you stay ahead. We

build on existing partnerships by striving to understand all

vital aspects of your business.

It’s really very simple: Your business is our business.

Our main goal is to be a valued partner to your company.

To earn this right, we work hard to build trust by keeping

the channels of communication open and by asking the

right questions, even if they are sometimes difficult.

We aim to integrate our services in your process and have

recently redesigned our organization to better achieve

this goal. You can learn more about our new services by

visiting our new and highly improved website.

In this issue of Mjølner UPDATE, you can read about our

strong partnership with Terma where our on-site consul-

tants help bring new knowledge and perspectives to the

table. We also present the unique possibilities in low-power

interfaces made possible by combining NXP’s MCUs and our

own TouchGFX technology.

Finally, we tell the story of how we helped Bankdata make

money transfers even easier for their customers by imple-

menting the new mobile money transfer technology,

Swipp.

Best Regards,

Jørgen Lindskov Knudsen, CEO

New Projects with Experienced Consultants

Through our seven-year partnership, Mjølner’s consultants

have obtained extensive knowledge about Terma’s organi-

zation which is continually shared with other project partici-

pants from Mjølner.

In this way, our consultants can quickly get up to speed and

immerse themselves in the task at hand when Terma starts

a new project.

The possibility of using Mjølner consultants that have work-

ed on previous Terma projcts strengthens our ability to con-

sider new perspectives of the task at hand, while saving

training time when starting up new projects.

– Mads Budde, VP of Research & Development, Terma

Mjølner’s partnership with Terma is a textbook example of

our value adding, on-site consultancy service. Our compe-

tent consultants help you find the right solutions to fit your

customers’ needs.

TERMA AND MJØLNER’SPARTNERSHIP HAS BEENGOING STRONG FOR SEVENYEARS. CURRENTLY, EIGHTMJØLNER CONSULTANTSCONSTITUTE A VALUABLEADDITION TO TERMA’S TEAM.

Terma is an international company headquartered in Den-

mark and with offices and subsidiaries around the globe.

With a strong presence in the aerospace, defense, and

security industries, Terma helps partners and customers

develop and manufacture mission-critical systems.

In doing this, a core value is to meet customers’ actual

needs and requirements, going beyond strong engineering

and manufacturing skills.

For Terma, growth and profit maximization are not abstract

disciplines, but a solution oriented process that requires

highly competent and flexible employees.

Mjølner’s consultants fit that description.

Mjølner’s consultants are a valuable addition to our team,

and have been so from the start. They are competent, quali-

fied and able to apply their skills to challenges within many

different areas.

– Mads Budde, VP of Research & Development, Terma

Strong Partnerships Mean Strong Solutions

Devotion to strong partnerships based on mutual trust is a

key value shared by Terma and Mjølner.

A strong partnership allows Mjølner to integrate closely

with our partner’s process because it ensures that we have

the knowledge and experience to choose the right people

with the right competencies for the specific organization.

This is also the case regarding our collaboration with Terma:

It is important to lay out a detailed and suitable blueprint

for a partnership of this caliber. Asking the right questions

and staying in close contact enables us to do just that.

Demo Facts

Implemented on NXP’s LPC4357, ARM Cortex-M4

core with LCD controller and DMA support.

Developed using TouchGFX and designed

and implemented by Mjølner.

The efficient MCU and revolutionary framework

enables high-end graphics on very cost effective

hardware.

NXP AND MJØLNER ARE INNOVATING THE HOME APPLIANCE EXPERIENCEBY COMBINING TouchGFX ANDNXP’S LPC4300 CORTEX-M4 MCU.

Mjølner’s widely recognized graphical user interface techno-

logy, TouchGFX, offers a range of possibilities for the home

appliance industry. As such, TouchGFX provides a strong

platform for our partnership with NXP Semiconductors.

The User Interfaces of Smart Ovens

The first output of our partnership is a demo of a smart

user interface for ovens. The combination of NXP’s MCU

and TouchGFX technology is a perfect match in the effort

to improve everyday interaction with home appliances, as

it constitues a cost effective solution.

Combining NXP and TouchGFX technology in this oven

controller provides the user with an intuitive and engaging

experience. Suddenly, we can offer the familiar quality feel

of a smartphone on limited hardware resources.

– Cristian Ionescu-Catrina, Application Marketing Manager,

White Goods, NXP

The demo oven controller is a combined hardware and soft-

ware solution applicable to a range of products and companies.

Getting Quickly from Idea to Product

The merging of NXP’s hardware and Mjølner’s software

enables us to provide the physical MCU, design, develop-

ment and implementation of a project. This boosts our

clients’ ability to rapidly go from idea to final product.

The new oven user interface is a manifestation of our ability

to bring ideas to life quickly, while maintaining the quality

and endurance that products need in today’s market.

NXP & TouchGFX:MAKING OVENS SMART

The oven user interface is a showcase of the possibilities NXP

and Mjølner bring to the table, both visually and technically.

From Traditional Ovens to Digital Gestures

To offer the most intuitive user experience possible, we

based the interaction on users’ experiences with the well-

known physical dials of traditional ovens, while keeping the

digital design simple and elegant.

The result is a revolutionary touch screen device where tem-

perature and timer are controlled by toggling dials on the

touch screen in a circular motion.

We knew that TouchGFX would bring new possibilities to our

microcontroller, but the quality and aesthetic appeal of the

final demo was overwhelming.

with over 600 employees. They offer IT solutions to an ar-

ray of Danish banks that also constitute the owners of the

organization.

The successful project of creating more than a dozen home

banking apps led to a strategic partnership between Bank-

data and Mjølner.

Mjølner knows our business well. This enables them to not

only solve the tasks we give them, but to help us explore new

areas that can lead to strategic benefits.

– Benny Kristensen, Head of Department, Bankdata

Making Money Transfers Even Easier

The latest result of the partnership is the implementation

of the new Swipp technology.

Swipp allows users to easily transfer up to 1500 DKK (200

EUR) a day in a way similar to text messaging.

Once you have connected your mobile phone number with

your bank account, you can transfer money on the fly!

Meeting a Crucial Deadline

Swipp is a joint venture between several banks. Mjølner

was contacted in February to help meet a short but crucial

deadline.

The release took place this month and was the result of an

efficient and lean process.
